Hi Everybody, We want to present a little post mortem on the launch of our latest beta 0.5 which was done to complete milestone 4. The milestone was quite ambitious, we had to comply to our commitments such as: 100+ levels, 150 cards, guild creation and level editor. We made important changes to the backend as well as the game architecture, specifically the way we store blockchain and off-chain cards. We also developed tools to allow the game to balance and analyze cards. We promised a release on the 6th of June and we did deliver the same day, however not without some significant glitches. The update was intended to be huge but in the end there were too many new features in our new technical architecture that were not tested enough. What we did wrong I take responsibility for this “half baked” launch, we tried to build too many things at once. Learning from this experience we are now working on test procedures to be carefully followed before each beta release going forward. Of course, that is common sense you might say… Thus in our case, because of the speed of releases and updates, we need to create shorter review cycles. Going forward we will not change architecture and implement big changes at the same time. We will make sure to thoroughly test each release before going live for as long as it takes to find all major bugs. Seen that we are still in beta minor bugs will still be the norm and our team will be there fixing them as they come. Overall progress I’m very satisfied with the game progress so far. We now have everything we need to make SoG a big hit:
At EverdreamSoft we have previous experience with several product launches. This is the first time where we do a continuous integration by developing the game while the community is testing it. It’s exciting because we get a lot of feedback and we see how people are playing from the very beginning. It does really feel like a product made by the community! We also feel the pressure since we are not quietly developing off the radar, people have expectations from us even though we are still in the production phase. Nevertheless this has been a very good lesson not only for us but for anyone working on blockchain-based and community-driven games in the future. We are moving to an ecosystem where the crowd is part of every step of the process. A big thank you goes to everyone who is following us in this adventure for making us all more efficient, effective and stronger by the day. |
Nice honest update dev, as long as you real to your community this will make things better in the long run. I hope to see big things come for this coin, both in tech, gaming and price. Good you can learn from any mistakes and come back bigger and better! (unlike START COIN idiots lol). BCY should be on the way.
Exactly.... I love truth and honesty and I love ambitious people that are always shooting for big things.... getting more amp'd about this company.
