I recently received a used SP20. I know that it works, and can hash. When I received it, it had Firmware 2.5.61 installed. Virtually everything I have seen posted here for a recent version is 2.6.x. So I went down the route of "Upgrading the firmware". I went and let it choose the "latest firmware", and the result appears to be 2.6.1. I am virtually certain that many folks have 2.6.7 or possibly 2.6.14? I then tried the auto update again, and it says "I am current with the latest". I then looked into a "Manual Selection", and said that 2.5.12 was the only one I could choose from. That just didn't look right, so I decided to seek advice here before I try and advance beyond 2.6.1.

1) I am truly confused by the firmware version numbering scheme.

2) How do I get beyond 2.6.1 to something that's got better control of the fan?

If there is a discussion of this somewhere in the past 500 pages, please point me at it.

Thanks very much!!!

Select the firmware upgrade manually. 2.6.7 is currently shown as a test version but it works.

I've ordered today!
That's like getting into mining for the first time again  Grin.

Hopefully ASIC mining will be fun as GPU mining was.

Good for you! You are able to get free electricity, right?

Yes, I Can run them on free electricity. But only up to 6 units. That is enough for me though. Doing it as a Hobby with a bit of cashflow 😊.
Hopefully I will receive them this week

... why need free to make the sp20 worth it?

Without cheap electricity its hard to reach ROI on an SP20 to be honest at current BTC prices.

Because most of the guys complaining here are used to get things for free.
You see, replacing their own brain-power with easy bought/rented one should hurt ...

Has anyone been able to get the WiFi to work on the SP20? I have the dongle plugged in but it even after multiple re-scans, nothing shows up for networks. Am I missing a step? I am on 2.6.7

'The right to privacy matters'
I just tried to purchase an SP20, was re-directed to a shopify(?).com for bitcoin payment and it said the site was down. I guess I will be buying an S5 instead. I really wanted an SP20, though.

I have 9 of them in house.  I am in New Jersey, USA.  If you are USA send me a pm.

I have had seasonic 660 760 and  860 platinum  psus never any issues even when over  loading them  10-15% over.  But then  again only  pulling 200-210 watts per connector.

what does an sp20 pull per connector?

If they are pulling around 1200 watts and there are only 4 inputs in the back then 300 watts per connector.  Kinda iffy if you dont have 16 awg wires.

the other unit he has on hand for the 2nd psu needed is below

SeaSonic Platinum SS-860XP2 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready
80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply  Haswell Ready.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151111

I don't know about the other model but I have melted 5 of these SeaSonic Platinum 860W PSUs at the modular connectors by drawing over 250W per PCI-e cable over an extended period of time. This was with various miners.

Ack! ..... hmmm this is not good ......could a guy use Y cables the good 16awg type? ......that was knc's solution to this kinda thing....
hopefully it is not an issue and sponddoolies will reply here

but on a side note ..perhaps they can also answer if 16awg Y cables are a good idea as well just to be safe with 2 psu's (or not)

No way the guy imho is gonna get an sp20 and 2 new psu's with the other 2  he has on hand now from whenever....anyway await replie(s)
perhaps someone on here is using the above seasonic 660w (the seasonic 860w I'm not so concerned about that should work?)
