you need to run the sp20's in the 1200gh area.

Thanks for this great reply. I'm luckily in a place where power and cooling are being provided for free for the next year, so I'm not sure I'm going to underclock this first batch.
I am in winter myself hard to beat free to cheap cooling. Winter keeps the SP20's very cold. I still love them no regrets at all with buying them.
To reach anywhere near max performance (1.7TH +/- 10%) they need to be somewhere very cool (sub 10°C) and have the fans running at min 80 speed, just make sure you can keep them somewhere where noise isn't an issue
You can run them at 1.5TH with 40-50% fans at 20-25°C ambient and they are tolerable in say a separate room.
Or you can replace the fans and underclock them and keep them under your bed
