I've already made a nice profit from my AM shares, so I don't really care. For me, it's a long term investment, not a get-rich quick scheme. How much profit have you made from mining on Spondoolies equipment?

Thx Bobsag3 - If you dont mind answering - how many units do you have per cabinet? and do you use any special/customized way to extract the hot air (toom.im style)? or do you use normal datacenter closed-circuit air-conditioning system?

Have about ~75 units running 23/71 front/back @ 220, max volts upped to .76

I thought the Tubes are using the same BE200 chips that FC/AM is selling. I also thought that it's logical that if chips don't sell good considering there are so many distributors, manufacturers and an open source project the miner called Tube which uses the same chips will not sell good.


Canary as a distributor sold less units than what I had in my SP30 GB. I wouldn't brag with that number if I were him.

Also being on a third batch means nothing if you don't know how big are the batches. SP-Tech had 1k SP30 units in August and more in September. If Canary sold 100 units then the total number of the Tubes in the wild must be less than 1000. Not that much of a performance.

For those ones who have SP30 hosted on datacenters what is the temperature you are getting on the back? Did anyone got any issues with the rooms with so much hot air?
Did you faced any issues with air flow/temperature when the back door of the rack/cabinet is closed?

Probably not worth a reply, but nevertheless.
Our firmware had the heartbleed bug, due to the use of OpenSSL. I gave an example why we decided early on not to give access not through separates VLANs, in order to prevent rogue miner from taking control of the entire DC.
Change "solved" to "patched".

My cellar project, a long time in the making, is finally complete now.

I can finally say: This facility is now fully operational.

Here's the video: 2x Spondoolies-Tech SP30 Yukon miners operating inside a quiet rack cabinet

Note 1:
I don't recommend running more than one SP30 in this quiet rack cabinet... the cabinet fans can't exhaust the heat quick enough, and the SP30s are thermally limited.
The cabinet can handle one SP30 plus one CoinCraft Desk 1TH/s unit - so a total of about 4kW, both units running at maximum hashrate. It may be able to handle a bit more heat, but I haven't tested that.

With two SP30s at just under 6kW the heat buildup inside means that the SP30s limit themselves thermally. If I run each SP30 by itself I get the full 4.5 TH/s. Together, I get around 8.2 TH/s, which means each machine is limiting itself by about 400 GH/s.
I haven't got any ideas at this stage on how to fix this, so I have accepted it. The SP30s still give the same excellent efficiency, the lower hashrate also equates to a lower power draw.

It is difficult to run these server-grade units at home. When I look at the perfect thermal environment that the Toomim Bros have created for their bitcoin miners, I have to take my hat off and admit: sometimes it's best to leave it to the pros.

Note 2:
Why did I buy this cabinet if it thermally limits miners?
The answer is that I started my cellar project earlier this year. The cabinet took about 3 months to get shipped from the UK. I purchased it before Spondoolies-Tech announced themselves to the bitcoin mining scene. Previous bitcoin mining equipment was much less dense in terms of kW per RU (rack unit), and so at the time the cabinet made sense.
I would recommend this cabinet for regular server gear, it does an amazing job of cutting out the noise.
I don't recommend it for bitcoin mining, it is not designed for the heat load. (Unless you only plan to run about 4kW of gear).

ckolivas' quote still holds - the latest Hammer ASIC (i.e. SP10) driver changes are in cgminer.

The SP10 doesn't need the latest version of cgminer unless there are security vulnerabilities that need fixing. (Are there some?)

Only on their current/new hardware. My SP10 has an old 4.4.1 version still and that's the latest firmware. So that statement isn't entirely true. It runs just fine, I just thought that comment was a little off.
