Thread said "starting shipping in 7 days" It has now been 7 days. Hope you are still on track.

We are very happy to announce that the first units have rolled off the assembly line today! The units are now on their way to the burn-in tests.

So roughly one day late. Not too bad.

If that guy is trying to keep hairs out of the electronics, he's gonna need a bigger hat.

Please don't make quotes so big. Thank you.

Our COO, the amazing mr. Kobi Levin has taken a few photos of the assembly line. We wanted to share our excitement with you.

The assembly process:

Congratulations to those who were quick and ordered first. We hope you enjoy the early access batch!

My ISP is UPC (Dutch cable company).

This member issue appears to be resolved, if anyone else unable to reach http://spminer.io, you are most welcome to PM me with your ISP details.

It's down again for me. But you gave me the right direction, it seems to be a DNS issue. So for everyone who has problems visiting the site, try using the Google DNS (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4), that worked for me.

I expect that an LCD display would see only fairly modest use, after spending many years working for an network equipment maker that shipped LCDs on its products I can only think of a couple incidents where I'm aware that it was actually useful beyond displaying the device name— but a network triggerable "identify unit" light would be insanely useful (along with lights for power and 'actively mining', of course).  I think, in general, most people would prefer more cost optimization over a fancier display. If an LCD doesn't make it on, I hope at least a set of indicator LEDs does.

Question to the community:
For SP30 it's too late (we're too deep into the design) but for future miners, is LCD with Hashrate / Temperature / IP / other status desirable ?
If so, what data to display ?

As seriouscoin said:

Please focus on 3 things:
1) price (as its a full on race compared to other vendors)
2) efficiency & cooling & design form factor (you're on a right track, altho i prefer abit better in cooling)
3) FW and management software

Only after you are very very satisfied with those 3 then you can start thinking about the LCD even if i think that a LED version is easier and much cheaper than the LCD. When considering a LCD first you need to not burden the miner in any way. And for stats i find that Hashrate / Temperature / IP are enough for me.(i assume you will see 0 hashrate if internet is down so we got that covered there and for temperature maybe 2-5 points of measure are better than just a single temperature).

I think LCD is not necessary, as long as data from webinterface is traceable to a specific miner (I don't think people will really use it, it's more a gimmick). What could be good though, is a bright red flashing led for when the miner is not performing as it should. This way you have a warning sign even when you just walk by the miners. Like many servers have for things like HDD failure.

No it isnt.....

Most miners dont stare at their miners. They're usually in a room or hosting facility where the webpanel control is being used 100% of the time.

I think LCD is just a gimmick.... waste of time and labour to build.

Hashrate/%HW/%Rejects
Temperature of each board
psu temp/load
IP/internet status up/down

Would it drop efficiency?

If not then things to display would be everything in cgminer + temps

  • a bigger PSU,
A 1KW 1U PSU is already rather insane, 1.2KW is the max they can go up to but its a long wait.

There are a few 12v fixed or adjustable voltage 1600 and 2500 W 1U PSUs.

Sunpower even makes a 3600 W 1U horrifyingly enough (RKP-6K1U-12).

Its not true 1U though as its full depth, still nightmareish: http://www.sunpower-uk.com/public/ranges/pdfs%5Cr1662%5Cr1662_1.pdf
