Any pool now?

Unfortunately being a Sunday night, The new VPS will be set-up and available to me tomorrow. One of few disadvantages with using a smaller VPS provider.

Pools should be up tomorrow.

I do think I have enough Federation Credits to buy a small moon, hope the wife does not take that in a divorce.

I have set up block explorers for both UFC and KED.

They are being hosted on the beta test CCEIII platform.

The ABE based explorer would have required some re-working to use these coins. I am certainly not going to be modifying ABE at this point with the CCE3 project testing.

These coins also give me an unique testing stress that I needed. Because they are so young with low difficulty, there are plenty of orphans.

Orphans are one of the major things I am trying to test CCE3 logic with.

UFC:

KED::

http://cryptocoinexplorer3.com:9222/

The port addresses are needed until testing is over and I fully convert CryptoCoin Explorer over to CCE3 (which is based on Cherrypy rather then Apache)

Remember these are test explorers, so they may go offline or have bugs. Please report bugs to me.

The thread for the test phase of cce3 is:

I have purchased another VPS and will be starting a UFC and KED pool on it tonight.

I will post when they are ready.

Getting it on GitHub is not a problem.  but I fail to really see how it creates a massive advantage to just having the source somewhere else. Being a very new linux convert, maybe I am missing the point of GitHub. To me it's just one more username to remember!

But if you want it, sure we can arrange it.

Please do put it on github. It makes it much easier for people to grab your source and compile it and make changes and submit them if there are issues that need fixing, and makes the whole thing a lot more trustworthy.

Putting your source on github will increase the speed in which a pool can be made, since those are gonna run on linux machines Smiley

The reason for github is a matter of security.

It allows one to examine the source before downloading anything.

This also works in your favor because people can directly comment and report issues with the code.People can also directly offer solutions to issues they see with the code.

I like the idea.

I may even try to squeeze a block explorer onto CryptoCoinExplorer.com before the complete upgrade to CCEIII.

However, I will not download and there will be less acceptance in the Alt-coin community, until the source is published on Github or its equivalent.

Githhub is free, so there is really no reason not publish the source there.  Smiley

Now all we need is a Dr. Who themed coin......Hmmm  Grin

That would be cool for a block explorer!

Does anyone want to make a Pool that should be our next target!

And anyone have good ideas for bounties ?

Also we have purchased the 2 domains,  darsek.org and federationcredits.org.  If anyone is interested in hosting a domain we can point the nameservers to your host.  I was thinking of running a small bounty for domains.

Nope, I just meant that "themed" coins are hit and miss with some communities. I thought the nerds of caching would like the GeoCoins, instead they cried, "confusing" and "keylogger." C'est la vie.

Ah, I follow.

I think it's just difficult in general to get the non-cryptocurrency community into crypto unless they can directly do something with the currency  (i.e. if you could purchase star trek memorabilia with FederationCredits, it would be an easier sell to that kind of community). Plus it is difficult to setup / requires a lot of trust in random executables downloaded from the internet, so I can definitely understand the trepidation.

That being said, GeoCoin could be amazing, if the currency could somehow be embedded into caches (and people understood how to use it). For example, if they find a cache, inside is a piece of paper with an url and special code that they could redeem for 50 GeoCoins, and then the next code to put into the cache. Definitely potential there.

In terms of Star Trek coins, I think 'credits' makes a lot of sense with how cryptocurrency is used. I think some well designed mobile apps showing credits and allowing instant transfer would make it feel like future money Cheesy

This is exactly what direction I'm going--QR Code support was the beginning of that. I want to be able to do easy offline paper wallets redeemeable in GE; they can be QR'd from inside a cache and redeemed at home Cheesy
