Hey every1!

Renting out 3TB of my harddrive, running it 24/7 on win10 for about 2 weeks now.
Made the portforwarding and increased networkspeed and cpu in config file...still only 60 GB is used.

My question is, is there anything else I can do to improve that my rental is chosen ?
Feel't like the first 10 GB went up fast then it got slower and slower...

Running it on my miningrig, but only mining on GPU's so a 2 Core AMD 3.9 Ghz should be enough?

Any advice is welcome!

Thanks

It does take a while to get some data, it's the same for everyone. When storage demand grows we will all get more data.
Also if some nodes go down their data will be re-distributed to nodes across the network.

With the latest version you can run 1 node per CPU core so if you have 2 cores mind how many nodes you run.
You can gather more info and speak to other farmers and Storj support reps on Rocket Chat at https://community.storj.io.

Would we receive extra fees for bandwidth of internet used?

What is the total number of copies exist for a single file?

Does Storj have it's own hard disks where it stores the files in case when there is a deficiency of storage available?

1. There are several variables that affect your payout, you can read more about it here:

http://blog.storj.io/post/156584576553/storj-payout-transparency

and here: https://gist.github.com/super3/a36a3d4967951ec678200f499364b81a

2. I think by default each shard is replicated at least 3 times. Files are shredded into small pieces (shards), encrypted locally, then distributed to different farmers on the network.

3. Storj is the AirBNB of cloud storage, the biggest decentralized cloud storage without owning any hard drives.
What I mean is there are over 19K farmer nodes on the network and the last I heard they had 5 Petabytes of storage available via farmers.
There is plenty of storage before it runs out and it can only grow further as things improve.
The idea is not strange and has been well attended to, most especially with terrific increase of information. The main concern is the security of everyones data, they should preach more on the security of stored data

- Between 6-20x copies are created on the network, this will eventually be lowered when Storj is more stable and Erasure + RS encoding works.
- You are also payed for upload bandwidth yes, even more than actually storing it: https://gist.github.com/super3/a36a3d4967951ec678200f499364b81a
- There is way more free space on the network that used-space so that is not a problem.

What's the difference between these two cryptocurrencies? Is conversion ratio one to one. What are applications of each one?

The primary difference is that SJCX is on the Counterparty which is on the Bitcoin block chain.  Bitcoin transaction volume is high, so Counterparty transactions are slow.

STORJ will be on the Ethereum block chain, which will make transactions faster, and offer the ability to use smart contracts.
so other things are same? do they have the same function?
Why would someone prefer SJCX is its on slower blockchain?

All SJCX tokens will be migrated 1:1 to the new ETH blockchain.

Will exchanges make the switch ?!

They will when they are ready to list STORJ, not sure if they will just migrate SJCX to STORJ on their platform directly so best to wait for Exchanges to announce it.

I share 100G space two days ,where i can check my pay?

you can't check the amount you will receive in advance yet, this will be implemented later, see https://github.com/Storj/bridge/issues/432

so the people who is build node can 't even how much pay they will get ?

Haven't got any payment since April 9th, which then I got 10SJCX for sharing about 5TB..

They announced on Rocket Chat that April and May payments will be bundled into one next month.
The April payment failed because of BTC backlog. They also said there will be new apps with new Ethereum payout address Wink

the farmers will be paid for the storage contracts, ie how much space is used by the Storj clients, not for the total space the farmers share/make available to the network.

set `maxOfferConcurrency` to `1` in the config file (for Pi only)

Some handy tips:

-  A farmers is only allowed to run 1x node per 1x CPU core.
- Each node requires at least 1GB of RAM
- To disable tunneling (which is not payed for) , set `max`, `min` and `maxTunnels` in the config file to `0`.
- For optimal performance and stability port forwarding is essential.
- payouts are once a month until micro-payments re implemented.
- Upload free tier limit is 3GB/h, 10GB/week and 25GB/month, one can add a billing option to app.storj.io to upload/download beyond the free tier limit.
