TEAM NOTES OCTOBER 18, 2015

Syscoin 1.6 "Shade" Wallet Release and Hard Fork
  • Changed version number from 1.5.2 to 1.6 due to increased scope of functionality being delivered in this release
  • Internal testing of 1.6 Shade release completed, public testing started Oct 16, 2015
  • Second iteration of public beta (1.6b2-shade) released Oct 17, 2015 and is current version (locked to cakenet Syscoin's test network)
  • Shade release uses same diff algo as Bitcoin now so as to allow for maximum portability between existing tools; remediates bug found in initial SYS diff algo based on KGW
  • Working on adding additional "nice to have" features to Shade release while its in public testing
  • Looking at possible ways to encrypt buyer message using merchant pub key so that only merchant can see buyer note contents. Still investigating.
  • New feature: In third iteration of shade public beta the wallet will now automatically read the offer description and if there is an image anywhere in the body it will display that image on offerlookup.
  • Installer will need to be updated to support SSL urls as well as possibly OSX build
  • Working on peg-updater script to keep pegging alias up to date guarding offers against market volatility. Initial params: +/- 5% for +30min (configurable).
  • Starting to reach out to major pools and exchanges to notify them of upcoming harfork / mandatory update.
  • Target release to mainnet (subject to public testing results) Nov 7 or sometime in November
  • Use #bugs Slack channel for bugs, or create Github issues

SYS2 Development
  • Name has been settled on as Forge, new domain will be forge.cx
  • Researching how to implement dividend bearing assets
  • Researching which language is best to use in terms of developing a dividend bearing asset and the portfolio of apps on top of that asset w/ETH
  • Jag & Coderboo to set meeting to sync up on research as coderboo has been doing research while Jag works on Shade

Marketing/Communication
  • SYS roadmap being updated today
  • Will have smaller press release for public beta testing announcement
  • Planning press release for Shade mainnet release that we'll put more resources behind
  • Will have stand alone landing page for Shade release that includes info on Shade features, use cases, and advantages over competition
  • Will be closing Millionaires Club in order to drive more discussion to the #general room
  • Planning larger marketing release/strategy around Shade mainnet release and how it leads into Forge Presale/SYS conversion opportunity ( details still TBD as we complete Shade development )- marketing team planning call for Monday evening
  • Planning on attending upcoming ETH conference in November
  • Keyare going to crypto meetup this Wednesday primarily focused ETH
  • Discussed SyscoinMarketplace twitter account and the the twitter bot will tweet every new item listed to the Shade market
  • Will use market.syscoin.org promotion features as revenue stream for team development
  • Step by step guide to setting up the public beta wallet on windows http://syscoin.org/b-a-part-of-decentralization-history/

Syscoin- Changing the way people do business.
So will there be another currency? Will syscoin no longer be the fuel to your main developments (shade)
I dont entirely understand what shade/sys2 /... is? Do i have to take action as a sys holder?

I think Keyare's reply here answer's a lot of your questions- https://www.reddit.com/r/SysCoin/comments/3k0qem/team_call_notes_sept_6_2015/cutwgnl. We're focusing on the Shade release and then Blockmarket after that and once the release cycle on those is nearer to completion we will have more specific information on the effort we've referred to as SYS2.

The best is still to come with shade.. Ive been making tons of pushes last few weeks.. Tons of features not in any other decentralized marketplace including:
1) ability to resell someones offer for a commission
2) ability to block resells and use a whitelist to control
3) use whitelist to apply discounts to people on list
4) use certificates in whitelist which are transferable and controlled by your private key
5) ability to have customer rebates by applying discounts to individuals and sending them the h
Whitelist certificate
6) dynamic pegged pricing and fees ability to list things in fiat, btc or any other one we see fit in the future without forking. Offer fees for example are pegged at $0.001usd max regardless of syscoin price.
7) wallet gui for all these features

been watching this thread for a while,,, now  i dont realy get it,,, why are u guys making SYS2?  is SYS gonna be abandoned  or what?

We are certainly not abandoning Syscoin as a project, it's more of a rebranding and shift in tech. The Shade release will soon come and we will be pushing the ease-of-use of our marketplace. We will, however be moving on to new technology.. The Syscoin blockchain was revolutionary in 2014 but with the launch of Ethereum, their blockchain has completely changed the way writing decentralized applications is done and brings incredible usecases that a Bitcoin-based blockchain does not (at least not without having to fork the blockchain constantly which is not good for any Crypto).

Our goal after Shade release and plugins, will be to leverage the next-generation blockchain that Ethereum provides by writing DApps(decentralized applications. We will be bringing our investors with us (if they choose to do so) by providing them with a portion of our new crowdsale (details TBD) and thus, we are certainly not abandoning it and will also be maintaining Syscoin as a currency to ensure that it's purpose continues. Syscoin itself's main goal was to enable it's features in a user-friendly way, this will be completely accomplished with the Shade release and as any decentralized cryptocurrency, anyone is welcome to update it via consensus.

Team Call Notes - Oct 4, 2015

https://www.reddit.com/r/SysCoin/comments/3nhvyl/team_call_notes_oct_4_2015/

Team notes from the google hangout on reddit.

Syscoin 1.5.2 "shade" Wallet Release and Hard Fork

  • Discussed expanding the functionality of offers by leveraging an enhanced implementation of certificates (currently used to control reselling) to provide users with a publicly audit-able offer/accept cycle (as in real-estate) without having to use SYS for the actual payment but rather using the service backbone as public ledger for the offer history against a given item.
  • > There is an opportunity to do this inside of SYS but the discussion leaned towards pushing this functionality into SYS2
  • Team has been testing the new wallet for some time, issues listed in github are being addressed- ETA to opening up testing with Millionaires Club is sometime this week
  • Danno/Seb1234 to put together test case document w/set of test cases
  • Windows build issues have been fixed, enabling more of the team to test the GUI
  • Only ONE non-aesthetic issue identified so far in Shade testing; Jag plans on fixing all issues in short order.
  • Danno to move on to Sys-Price-Peg updater once testing is complete / open to MC
  • Marketing team members are working with actual merchants, discussing getting them on the Shade marketplace ASAP, discussing benefits of the Syscoin with these merchants and the ability for them to get back to fiat (if desired) using the SYS marketplace- making sure to consider how market liquidity and such impact these plans.
  • Jag worked with SNET team this week to make any updates/changes in the Shade release so that Syscoin can be fully supported by the forthcoming SNET product releases!

SYS2 Development

  • Sebastian (coderboo) has been working with DApps for over a month now and is ready to start developing the SYS2 DApp code
  • Code team reviewed the current design docs around SYS2, dividend-distribution to SYS2 asset holder being investigated for initial implementation
  • Code team has followup call scheduled for Tuesday to discuss first actual DApp code around SYS2 platform

Marketing/Communication

  • SYS Shade roadmap published to MC, will be made public on website this week ASAP (Danno behind on this one, sorry!)
  • New SYS2 logo and name have been circulated through MC- getting positive feedback on the new logo, will be finalized and made fully public shortly
  • Social channels for Syscoin will be reused in the context of the new SYS2 entity; will rename our existing properties to the new name and in situation where that is not possible we will leverage some alternative strategy (tbd)
  • SHADE marketing- splash page on SYS page or should it be on new site? Plan is to have a standalone page for the SHADE release which is indicative of Shade being an interim step towards SYS2. The shade landing page will be updated in 3 steps - 1) release of shade wallet; 2) release of blockmarket; 3) release of Shade APIs
  • Discussing consumer-education around SYS/Shade/SYS2 and how the evolution of Syscoin to SYS2 will not mean Syscoin is dead but SYS2 development will actually continue to contribute to the value primarily of SYS2 but also to the value of SYS.
  • Discussed fund-management in relationship to the new ICO, and how we will be changing tasking and funding moving forward with the new funds; we will be using a much more disciplined system to create and assign tasks (JIRA) as well as a professional level support desk solution to provide business-level support to entities leveraging the DApps we provide. We will of course be using these funds to hire full time developers and convert some of our existing part-time team to full time developers. There will also be hourly-work available for the existing team members who cannot convert to fulltime for one reason or another and/or for external entities to contribute towards development/marketing/admin.
General

  • Dan was out on dayjob biz travel all last week, impacted ability to test/communicate, tried to hop on after-hours as much as possible. Back now.
  • Andy busy with personal items over past week; personal items should be mostly wrapping up over this week.
  • Sebastian (coderboo) is almost fully healed from his car accident, diving deep in DApp coding / back in team discussions/planning/calls
  • Jon on leave for the time being for personal/financial reasons

I just want to know can syscoin convert to syscoin2?

ok, Please don't let the syscoin holder disappointed。

Considering that in the team, we hold a large amount individually, we certainly would not want to do that at all!
