I tried looking around to see if any other coin devs talked about this yet but I haven't found anything (it's hard to search on a phone though, if you've heard anything a link would be appreciated!)

You ain't joking right ? What if you turn on your computer and do your part of work ?
TIPS dev team better give good signs soon. It's becoming really long. No trust in them anymore.

We all got full time jobs, we all have real life responsibilities.  If you want the price to go up you should be evangelizing.  Plenty of opportunity to spread the word on  reddit / irc / bitcointalk.  This community needs doers right now.  Multipools are still dumping and we need to recruit more hashpower to keep the miners sights off of us.  Even with Kimoto G-Well we're still facing an onslaught of sell-offs.  We increase hash, we increase diff.  If we increase diff we reduce our coin profitability, and the multipools will stay away.  They stay away, our price can go back up.

The reason the price of TiPS went up to 150 litoshi before was because the strip miners removed the coin from their software.  Without the massive selloffs, our coin was actually able to grow.  3 days.  In 3 days we were able to skyrocket.

Invisibel, this is obviously a concern, but the biggest threat right now is multipools.  Would you please consider an additional tweak to the difficulty algorithm so that multipools cannot target anymore?
I think。。Difficulty retargets every block

I totally agree. Too much dumpers. I am mining Fedora for long term.

Don't worry , 2 weeks left ,and price will increase step by step  Wink
Huge accumulation in past weeks, like $ 5-6 million, it is only a matter of time, TIPS capitalize very different values...

Ditch the Fedora name COMPLETELY, guys. More proof that keeping any reference to "fedora" is a negative to us:

From carlishio2 on reddit:

"About a week ago i didn't even know dogecoin was a real thing, i thought it was just a joke like fedora tips"

We most certainly aren't a joke, and I think a lot of people are forgetting about that joke tip bot that tips euphoria on reddit that a lot of people may confuse with TiPS. We NEED to remove fedora from the name altogether. Get a new URL, don't even reference it on the coin.

How concerned should we be?  Does this apply to TiPs or all coins?

Unfortunately all coins... He is looking for a solution.

How concerned should we be?  Is this more of a concern for TiPS than other coins?

Hey guys, sorry again for my lack of communication recently, this family get-together has lasted a lot longer than I thought!

I'm not sure if you've heard but a side-channel attack for ECDSA has been published, to be specific the ECDSA variant used in Bitcoin/Litecoin/TiPS/etccoin.

It allows an attacker to recover the private key for a given address/publickey, but only under certain circumstances. (in non-techie terms, it allows someone to make a wallet key mold from your wallet lock and unlock your wallet with it)

I tried looking around to see if any other coin devs talked about this yet but I haven't found anything (it's hard to search on a phone though, if you've heard anything a link would be appreciated!)

Maybe it's just not a priority to them, seeing as the attack depends on the factors below (might be incorrect, based on what I could understand from the paper and what others have said):
Code:
- Attacker knows target address/publickey
- Attacker can execute code on the same machine as the target (eg. attacker owns a VPS on the same machine as the targets VPS)
- Target has signed 200+ transaction/inputs from the target address

If all of these conditions are met then recovering the targets private key is only a matter of time, and while the probability of all of these being met is pretty slim it still leaves a possibility.

Maybe other coin developers already have it marked down as WONTFIX, but I won't stand by and allow the coin I develop to contain any public exploits.

A mitigation technique (aka: semi-fix) is already described in the paper, although it sounds like it might take some work to implement. I'll start looking into it as soon as I get back but that might not be until March 9th or so.

PS. sorry if this post reads a bit weird, had to rewrite it because my phone randomly skipped back a page and I lost the post before I could send it -.-

Thanks for the info! Great to hear from you Smiley

hi FWA!
can you tell us about the rebranding that is going to take place? I read on reddit I guess that it's coming. Will the orange FedoraCoin with the shield be used? will the design by Fayens and also the simplified versions of it not be considered?
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5344369

(we also need to discuss a couple if interesting things that came up through the previous weeks, I intend to compose a post when I get more time and list what I collected. but I hope we can get the discussions here going again to get the creative machine oiled and running again Wink)

Any progress being made to use TiPS for tipping on Social Media?  I saw Redcoin is already doing this.

All respect to withfedoraco.in, but TIPS should also be integrated with Coinpayments.
