I am building a dedicated rig just for UFO mining. Thinking of getting 5 x R9 280x cards and using 2 750W PSU bridged with the Add2PSU. The motherboard will have space for 7 PCIE cards, 4GB of ram and a intel celeron processor. What do you think?

I really hope the price bounces back someday

It will when we see more miners coming.

I am have issues getting my wallet to sync up.  Its stuck at about 8069 block remaining?  Any ideas on how to get it sync?  Without changing address didnt realize it hadn't sync'd and had a bunch of coins set to this address.

did you put the latest ufo.conf under the right folder (depends on the os)?

http://ufocoin.co/wallets/ufo.conf

With that it syncs right away. Just let it run for a few minutes.

yes did that the day before posting,  its in my roaming folder under UFO.  Yes its the right roaming folder because its where I setup solomining other coins in that same folder. I redownloaded the main wallet again today and unzipped it to a different file ran it and it downloaded to the same spot.  Then stoped again.  Been trying to sync for about 2hrs stuck at same block.   Any other files I should delete?, or should I just screw the coins I set to that address and move on?

First backup for wallet.dat. Then erase all that ufo conf folder, start your wallet and then close it. Put ufo.conf again on ufo roaming folder. Start wallet again, let it run for a few minutes it will start downloading block chain again from block 1.

Also make sure you are downloading the wallet from the link of the first post here.

This one looks too good to be true.

https://www.flowertechnology.com/product/orchid/

$1900 for 10Mh/s the problem is that release date is Q3 2014. Maybe for that time we can get cheaper GPUs or new versions with double hash rate.

Mining UFOs at 10Mh/s just sounds delicious.

I live 11 minutes from the HQ of that company. I'll check them out tomorrow or Friday.

now see why they wont to buy them..
for me,, i still build rigs

look at what they ask of these cards... that is insane
It is ridiculous, 2 months ago they could be found for 350 average, retailers are jacking their prices through the roof to gouge us
Check out the ridiculous prices on the 290x's now, they are between 700-900 each

If you have an online retailer that will sell you 280x's for that price, please share the link, decent 280x value is rare at the moment

Prices are just ridiculous right now. The 280x MSRP is $299.99 and the R9 270 MSRP is $179.99.

Here is a R9 270 that makes 400kh/s cheaper than the Dual Asic Miner for $187.99 the only bad thing it's that you have to wait 2-4 weeks to get yours.

http://www.shopblt.com/item/asus-r9270-dc2oc-2gd5-radeon-r9-270-pcie/asus_r9270dc2oc2gd5.html

I think if that dual ASIC miner could make script 600 kh/s and cost around $250 would be good, but for only 300kh/s and 200kh/s in dual mode not so much. It's still no competition to GPUs, also it's not proven, will they burn in a month?

its now correct

still you can have same hash power with gpus/usd
3mhs gpu hash about 1500usd
Huh 3mh/s requires 4x280x, there is no where in North Americas these cards can be found for less then 450USD+tx's Ive been looking, here in Canada the cheapest I can find is $439+tx(14%) = 483 x4 = 1932, this doesnt include the system, which will also require at least 1 pcie riser cable, preferrably 4 as you dont want them all jammed in the same case, heat will get out of control

wow, they are expencive
there is 3mhs rig to sale 1350usd, i think i gonna buy it..
THe cheapest here that has them is stock is  Futureshop see link below
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/sapphire-sapphire-r9-280x-dual-x-model-3gb-gddr5-pci-e-video-card-11221-00-20g-11221-00-20g/10277993.aspx?path=809bea6f0ee7ba7c7da549c10069845aen02
will get around 700Mh/s
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/sapphire-sapphire-r9-280x-vapor-x-model-3gb-gddr5-pci-e-video-card-11221-02-40g-11221-02-40g/10277992.aspx?path=a44df958e711ce549f922ec6dd89cc1een02
will get around 750mh/s
edit as of current they are again out of stock
Newegg canada has their prices jacked right up as do most other online retailers at the moment, check out the links
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=-1&IsNodeId=1&Description=r9%20280x&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?keywords=r9+280x
The cheapest is below with stock, factor in shipping and 14% sales tax here though

The point of my discussion is not these devices, its the future devices months from now, prices come down hashing power goes up, this is going down the same road as Bitcoin did it seems

I have a feeling that within the next few months GPU mining scrypt will be non profitable, Ive been looking around and Script asics seem to be popping up everywhere. Check out the following:

http://bitcoinminingmachines.co.uk//index.php?route=product/category&path=65
http://www.bitcoinguru.com.au/gridseed-dual-miner-btcltc-mining-now-first-in-australia.html

I ordered one from http://bitcoinminingmachines.co.uk//index.php?route=product/category&path=65 hopefully have it in a few weeks, try mining some UFO with it and SHA256 coin at the same time.
Still worries me, makes me wonder if I should hold off investing in more GPU's especially considering how high vendors have jacked the prices

look at asics price, they will not run over gpus, them should not be called asics as btc have asics
best thing to now do is buy gpus to get them pay of fast
most asics promissed, at late this year, want to wait that?
less ming power than gpus / usd --- negative feedback
less power / hash --- positive feedback
we will see..

its still cheaper to build gpu rig, than buy so called scrypt asics
when this is over... no one buys your scrypt asics
gpu has allways some price to sell

Each USB device will use 60w of power and mine Scrypt at 300K and SHA at 8G
Price: £1,450.00

THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY MINE BOTH COINS THIS SPEED
Each GC3355 chip is capable of producing up to the following:
Scrypt only mode: 70 KH/S
SHA only mode: 2.25 GH/S
Sir you are incorrect on the price, that  £1,450.00 is for 10 of them. which is 3MH/s Scrypt and 80Gh/s Sha256, each device runs with 5 chips in it, and each sell for £165 the price you have there is for a batch order of 10. Also these devices are in hands as I type this, I should have the single i ordered for $330cdn by early march as batch one from this vendor already shipped out. To set up a rig running 3MH/s will require 4 280X's which currently run here for $550 after taxes, plus the rig itself, so you are looking at $2200 plus a conservative 300 for the rest of the system so lets say $2500 for a 3Mh/s GPU rig, also this GPU rig will burn 1500Watts of power while 10 of these devices dual mining burn 600watts, and Scrypt mining only mode burns under 100 watts.
