the network hash rate is verry low this days, everyone can mine even with an old pc Smiley

Really?

It's not even worth mining on my Ryzen at the current hash.
The gpu miners and halving, have killed this coin.
How's about updating the algo to make it less worth while for the gpu miners?

Sorry to be harsh, cos i love this coin, but its def a gpu coin now.
J

I agree it doesn't seem very viable as a cpu coin. And having a rare cpu coin was kind of the selling point here. As a gpu, it seems less special.

URX Community Security

URX is going well but . . .

. . . our project founder has been missing for a few weeks.

What does this mean?  Well, we’re not sure where Uranium-X is, but his absence reminds us that community projects depend on the community to decentralize and advance.

So what we need to do is: decentralize.

It’s not easy to do this without the founder, but we’re up for it and  these are the steps we’re taking:

Notifying exchanges. We don’t want to create any panic so we’ve let the exchanges know that our founder has been MIA.  They’re good with it --- so long as there’s a plan from the community to move forward (that’s what this is).
Fork GitHub repository.  We don’t have the Github password so we’re forking it and creating a separate repository. If we move to this repository it will still require consensus of the community, but it’ll give us access to a code set for future work.  We’ll also distribute passwords among key members so the same centralized problem doesn’t happen in the future.
Migrate Android Wallet. We’re moving the Android wallet over to a community server(s) sponsored by wildraven@ and papacabeza@.
Migrate Seed Node(s). We’ll need to set up Seed Nodes on new, decentralized infrastructure.  For this, a fork will be required, so this will require collaboration and consensus with the community.

On the wallet: Apparently the server that hosts the wallet currently has an unpaid bill so the Android wallet service may go down at any time. As a security measure, we would like to advise the community to please withdraw their funds. We did not realize that the wallet is closed-source and we are currently working with the wallet developer barrystyle@ to obtain the code as well as passwords for migration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does this mean we’re in a fight with the founder, Uranium-X?
Not at all, we would welcome him back anytime. We wish him well and hope that his absence is only for good reasons.

Q: But what about the code and the magic sauce of URX?
The project is based on Bitcoin and in fact, the founder contracted the project to a third-party developer.  It was always the founder’s hope to hand off this work to the community --- maybe he’s sending the message to us indirectly that now is the time. Smiley
Q: So who is in charge now?
You are! Easier said than done but the reality is that URX is a community project with no premine, no ownership, no centralized control.  It’s future depends on the will of the community, and it’s facilitated by the founder.

Q: Are you guys going to start forking and going off on your own?
Well no, there is no “us” vs “them” there’s just the community now. Basically, we’re saying: Bueller’s been out of the building for a while, let’s start and assume Bueller may not come back.  We’re putting things in place for that but the community will need to decide by consensus.

Q: Should I sell my coins? Or HODL?
We’re not giving any financial advice here.  We’re HODL’ing and if you choose to sell, we understand (some of us see turmoil as buying opportunities for optimists).

We have had two users this week report that their URX has transferred without their authorisation. When you have an encrypted wallet, each time you initiate the action to send funds, you have to enter your password to temporarily unlock the wallet. Its good security practice with any coin and wallet file. Stay safe and lets keep the URX trading volume going to the moon!

someone had cold feet yesterday and dumped 1436 urx but that can be seen as a good thing becouse
the coins are now in many pockets not in just one and the buyers got lucky and bought cheap urx

They gotta dump smaller man... this speed I can't keep putting up buy orders (1400 URX)

That said, go have blind trust again people! You're free to buy part of my latest buy order (profit will be moved to cold) so I can refill the buy order soon Smiley So far, with how active Safe.Trade is improving, communicating and monitoring trades for security, it's great! Shit to hear someone got their wallet stolen, but great to hear the hacker only managed to send them in a nice circle Cheesy
