[08-30] 2nd Testnet

Srry for the delay. Here are the 2nd testnet wallets:
http://cryptomagic.com/files/magi-release/
Just used new QT executable instead of the old one, no other files changed. Get his whe run:

Code:
itod@ubuntu:~/.magi$ ./ubuntu_14_magi-qt_v1.0.0.1
ubuntu_14_magi-qt_v1.0.0.1: src/kernel.cpp:487: unsigned int GetStakeModifierChecksum(const CBlockIndex*): Assertion `pindex->pprev || pindex->GetBlockHash() == (!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet)' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

This is due to unsuccessful assertion of genesis block; looks like you have the prior block data there; if so, delete the folder ~/.magi/testnet2 folder.

Would love to test Nvidia mining, but unable to run/sync wallet form above post(windows build). Getting..... assertion error: File :src\main.cpp , Line 2661.....if ignore...same but   Line 487.....if ignore "error loading block index"  then wallet crash/close
Please advise!!
Also completely deleted appdata folder(from previous test release) in an attempt to allow test wallet to load fresh, this is when I got Line 2661 fault, was already getting Line 487 fault

I just tried in my another windows 8 machine, everything looks normal. Try these:

1) delete prior block data: simply delete the %appdata%\magi\testnet2 folder (backup wallet.dat there if needed)
2) make sure conf file: magi.conf lies in %appdata%\magi (not under testnet2), and having the content: testnet=1

Run the wallet again, if you get any issues, post the errors from the %appdata%\magi\testnet2\debug.log (not the whole file)
Same thing.............

[08-30] 2nd Testnet

Srry for the delay. Here are the 2nd testnet wallets:

Check this thread or OP for instructions:

CPU & Nvidia miners:
https://github.com/magi-project
Some details:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8533387

Screen shot of magi-minerd:

Issues with the last test: PoS-II makes use of the value of moneysupply, seems like it was not well picked in the last test. In addition to that, revision was made to the block processing; processing PoS blocks is now delayed in order to avoid orphan blocks being counted.

Tasks:
# magi-cpuminer is not working well (will look into that; looks like memory issue). Cudaminer is never tested so we need your feedback on testing (any errors?). It won't be possible for me to test it out as I don't have Nvidia. I will get the miners for windows tomorrow.

# I will port djm's ccminer, also might be able to check out the AMD miner if time is allowed.

# Network sync.

# Need feedback on PoS-II mining. Again, I am very interested to know what you get.

Thanks for testing.

Good things take time. That's okay dev. The important thing is that the launch is successful.

I have held you so long time for the launch; I will let it happen as soon as I can; since it will be in the testnet, we're still safe in changing the code. I can assure you that the source code will be immediately available at the formal launch (after testnet).

No, I'm just like you, just waiting until the information comes from the developer of the relaunch.
But I found your comment funny. Grin Grin Wink
Relaunch? Relaunch testnet?

Running on vps with a few nodes connected. I will launch the test ASAP. Thanks waiting.

Quick enquiry to followers, if you are interested to this coin, seriously consider it as a long-term project, and feel like much better development, pls pm me, would love to have you in. As a team, we can make progress much faster than what it is right now.

Unable to sync to testnet......current nodes?? Was previously working ( few days ago )... Any help??

Pls don't use the wallet released previously. New wallet is under the way (hopefully next two days).
when will you release the coin actually (not the testnet one, what are your plan at that level)

The developer is working or is still asleep. This is due to a different time zone
I am answering or not, no matter what is your timezone  Grin
but can you explain me your comment in regard of my original question ?
(I never said he had 5min. to answer...  Roll Eyes)

edit: Are you the reincarnation of Schrodinger ?
edit2: actually Schrodinger would have said that it isn't possible to know if he is sleeping or working unless he posts a message  Grin

Hey djm, stay cool buddy  Wink

The testnet is to ensure everything goes smoothly so this will be very necessary (I figured out until someone suggested to do so). It would be getting tough if issues happen after formal launch, exchange suspending etc. Likely plan is the testnet this week, and formal launch next week.

Schrodinger will never know the results because he must go and check it out, while what he does affects what he gets. Options: #1 Schrodinger peers through the window to check if I am working or sleeping; #2 if I am sleeping I may pretend to sleep, Schrodinger may make a call: hey buddy are you awake, I wake up or I actually not sleeping, answer that, yea I am awake; #3 Schrodinger must go and check out, if that is the only approach he can take; contrast to that, I can tell Schrodinger in which time zone I live; #4 Schrodinger can check out all of my prior posts to get idea where I am; like people want to see djm's updates on ccminer, Smiley they may check out your profile and posts to get idea on the timing. 111magic is one of early magi followers, we've been in touch and he knows where I live. Smiley

The source code is mostly based on originally ppcoin, so you can see the work to be done is with changes to the hash function. Additionally, changes to the PoS are made too. Don't expect 'my expertise' on coding and creative coding revisions. I do have sort of 'expertise' in managing mathematic functions to adjust block rewards, interest etc (PoS-II too). Be honestly on these things, I won't be rushing out, and also somehow take my step being more 'experienced'. I've seen your keen anticipation on the code. I love that. While I have to apologize, I am not a quick coder and also have other things (research) to do.  Probably you can check back few days later.
