The following are for test only (NOT for regular use).

Prior post regarding the situation: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.26644910

In case one wants to continue a test, here is instruction:

http://m-core.org/bin/block-chain/test-chain/instructions.txt

And binaries are here:

http://m-core.org/bin/block-chain/test-chain

There were some tests going on today. When we don't see unusual particularly, we will make a formal release.

Thanks all.

p.s., there is a channel "dev" on slack, report issues there; we'll check over.

I just started mining Magi Coin a few weeks ago.  I have a wallet installed on one of my machines, with coins in it.  Is there anything I can do ahead of time to be ready for the 'new' Magi Coin?  Will I have to install a new wallet?  Will my coin appear in it, or will simething need to be done?  How do I switch my miners over to it, will the pool I am in handle that?
Basically, is there some guide to what needs to happen?
Thanks

Nice to wake up to see XMG trending upwards this morning on Bittrex.

Volume up; price trending up atm and up 16% in the past 24 hours. Slightly off it's high...

I'm tend to not weigh technicals when analyzing altcoins (comparatively to stocks/commodities); but I'm surprised more traders haven't jumped in on XMG, it seems to have flown under the radar a bit in terms of valuation, current price point, how small the float is on the sell side, the order book on the buy side has doubled in the past 2 days in terms of BTC orders on the books, so support is growing (and sell orders have been bought up, 14% down in terms of available XMG on the ticker).

Will be taking a look at the Beta Release which was posted yesterday and give my feedback.

Cheers!

Hi guys, another newbie here.

I've just installing configuring my magi wallet and my magi miner when I saw the notice about the hardfork.

Yesterday I've configured the wallet using latest version available on Github (compiling it from sources) and I've attached the current blockchain available.

I understand that at this moment I can't run my wallet locally with the current blockchain data, isn't it? When the hard fork occurs what modifications will be required over the wallet?

Sorry in advance if my questions are very basic, these are my first steps using cryptocurrencies and I haven't found information about it.

Thanks in advance.

Awesome will be taking a look at these right away and congrats to the entire XMG Magi Team for hitting the mark and being right on time!

Magi is starting to really ramp up on Bittrex. Been watching closely now since 12/20. The amount of MAGI for sale has dropped by 15% (less people selling); and the the amount of buy orders has increased 50%!

In addition; the buy count of XMG vs sell count was roughly 1:1 for about a full week; and now buy XMG is at a 2.7 : 1 ratio - much higher demand!

Looking forward to seeing what's to come with MAGI!

Cheers!

Great to hear - thanks for the info - Lets see how Magi performs over the next few weeks - things are looking positive

I'm still trying to get my head around this notion of not mining too fast or you'll get less.

I have a Ryzen TR 1950x as well as a 1700.  They do very well at m7m.  I also have my media PC (Core i7) and my bedroom media PC (Core i5) that does decently.  I've also got a few low-mid-end CPUs scattered around the house (Core 2 Quad, Pentium Gxxx, and Core i5 Sandybridge).

In total, a little over a 1 MH/s.  Is that considered too fast?

Not sure if I'm understanding this, buy why have a "speed limit"?  To prevent fraud or a botnet?

PS: Was mining at zPool.  Waiting for m7m to be available for mining again.

Bitcoin is rapidly reaching an energy threshold where the only people able to really make money from it are individuals throwing thousands and thousands of dollars worth of electricity at it. Not to mention the environmental impact that has. But, this leaves average people out in the cold.

Magi is founded on leveling the playing field for miners, as well as saving energy. The speed limit prevent bot nets and large mining operations from swooping in and gobbling up all the proceeds, thus controlling the coin and it's value. The slower speeds needed to maximize payout spreads out the energy impact over years versus months like bitcoin.

The only issue I see with it is that there is no hard limit placed within the system, meaning a single individual with a server farm can tank the payout for everyone. When this happens there is no method to stop them other than just asking them to stop (Pool owners can manual block miners, but I haven't seen this happen at all thus far), which can be a problem for people keeping the speed "sweet spot" in mind. Large miners will still get the bulk of whatever a block pays out, even if it is a small amount. In theory, this low payout isn't profitable for them, and they eventually leave. But it still has a major impact for the other players over time, especially when XMG gets some attention. There have been times I have literally gone from mining 1-1.2 XMG per day to <.10 XMG a day simply due to some kH whale entering the mining network. I am going to wager a guess that this will be the case when the HF is released soon

Thanks for the explanation.  Very thorough.  So what is this "sweet spot"?

Just what I needed, thank you!!!

Hello,

I'm new here and trying to get the m-wallet to run on my MacBook Pro. However, its not currently "Synchronizing with the network". I also dont know where to locate the magi.conf file after copying the m-wallet to my Applications folder. Can anyone here help point me in the right direction or link to older posts that may answer my questions?

Here is a write up I did on reddit's magicoin subreddit. It should explain everything.

There should be an option in the wallet itself to go directly to the conf file, If I remember right it is a button. Hope this helps.
