Hello people,

We've made a bit of changes at Pool42 !

After having made a poll among our miners, it has been decided by the vast majority that the hashrate limit should be
increased from 300 KH/s to 600 KH/s in order to be able to have a larger share of the network hashrate.
Lol

Thank you for your constructive comment.

Hmm thought value would drop after exchanges are back online.
Well, the total supply newly mined after last month of not selling, is around 120.000 XMG.
See : https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/#!overview
At least 1000 people mined last month, meaning 120 XMG for everyone.
Most people expect price raise, so they don't sell, I guess.

Good news that so many people have great confidence with the Magi - great work and thanks for getting everything back Joe and 111 =)

Then i see this on trasmamod and i start to wonder did we just fork again?

2,086.57%

Hi. Don't worry. There is no fork.
What you refer to is that the pool is continously calculate/estimate how many shares it normally need to find a block. And due to that there has been a lot of changes in the network according hashrate and luck of finding the blocks, the pool will get "rare" estimate and real values of estimate share due to the adaption time of the new "PoW / PoS" blocks rule (because that the calculations use "old" data/values to estimate the future). After a while it will then start to show more correct.

BTW: TrasMaMod XMG pool will continoue to keep the limit of 300KH/s to create the posibility for everyone participating the pool to get a good part of the block reward, even for small miners.
Everyone is welcome to TrasMaMod XMG pool as long they respect the 300KH/s limit.

Anybody to contact Suprnova?
I like them because of the low transaction fee, so I can make small payouts. 0,1 on minerclaim is just to high compared to 0,01 on Suprnova.

You can try xmgpool with 0.01 auto and manual payout.

Found 3 blocks after wallet update. Latest found block is 1484921.

Welcome to join the NOMP pool with
port 3333 for Low range CPU, Starting Difficulty: 4,
port 3332 for Better range CPU, Starting Difficulty: 32
port 3256 for High range CPU, Fixed Difficulty: 256   (can be changed by request)

Happy mining!

Hi.

Low range CPU: kh/s?
Better range CPU: kh/s?
High range CPU: kh/s?

Another block found at 1485566 with 15xmg, really lucky comparing with other small pools! Welcome to shift some of your hashing power!

Just updated the port information:

Low range CPU: kh/s?                   5-100k                     port 3333  Diff  default 4, range 1-512
Better range CPU: kh/s?                100-1000k                port 3332  Diff  default 32, range 8-1024
High range CPU: kh/s?                  1M-  ??M                   port 3256  Diff  default 256, range 120-4096

Good going community. I updated the chain and wallet Cheesy

had a question though: how long does it take to stake. My wallet keeps saying i dont have enough weight and last time it was open for a week at least.

Cheers

Best to have at least 50-100 coins in your wallet to stake (better >1000) - also if your coins have been in your wallet for too long they may be too old to stake (weight reduces with age), if you send your coins back to yourself you'll reset the age. From then it should take around 8 hours. The more blocks you have to stake, the higher chance you have of a block being picked which is why I recommend around 1000XMG.

Hope that helps.

Nice. i had no idea if they are too old they dont stake. Thats a great tip. I have sent it to a new address. Lets see how it goes Smiley

Cheers for your help

Your welcome - by the way - you can send the coins back to your own address - you dont need to make a new one - also the stakesplitthreshold and stakecombinethreshold should help with keeping the block age young.

There are a few raised concern regarding the new wallet, but I'll keep a rely to all here.

The big rewards does sound coming out the way that appears uncommon. Following my prior post about overhash things, additionally I do need to reassure we're going the right direction. We need a reasonable hashrate estimate, and the PoW / PoS rule has been going the way affecting how difficulty is being adjusted. I'll need a better handling, or put it the way being trivial to the block time.

At this moment I wouldn't agree with the conclusion based on what we thought; there are no special things that rule out the smaller pools except this first thing came out with the big rewards. Anyways, let me give updates on the correct network hashrate calculation and how to take actions on correcting the block reward likely in this weekend (need get my work stuffs sorted out as the first high priority).

Here what we have regarding the mining; the pools with higher hashrate have the higher probability of finding blocks, or can find more blocks than the smaller scale pools; those blocks found include those accepted and rejected (PoW general rule). This means when smaller pool gets blocks rejected; the big pools should get even more blocks rejected; doesn't make sense the other way around.

There are causes like the big miners coming along that would lead to difficulties in finding blocks; this can be reasonable since the block reward gets high, and also we get back on normal functions with more open pools (like zpool is up but not in the maintenance mode).

Edit: Just spotted the block rewards drop down to ~2 XMG; will check on the things anyways. I also suggest pools monitor the blocks to get some average values over days. Feel free to post here what you get.

Do still think something changed since last update. Running a pool with abt 1.5MH/s it has now been 3500 block since last block found.
It takes abt 15 seconds (sometimes 30) after the second PoS block generated for pools like Zpool or Minerclaim to take the next PoW block. Currently have like 550.000 share and still no block created.
Did create 1 orphan abt 14hrs ago. Rest I have 5 errors that block not accepted as it was in between PoS and PoW block rule.

I was in heaven there i mined 60 odd xmg yesterday then it dropped to 36 today  Shocked only splitting 550 KH/s over trasmamod and m-hash too

figured that wasnt going to last long! but the coins i sent to rex about a month ago magically appeared today when the wallet came back online over there so win win

Then i see this on trasmamod and i start to wonder did we just fork again?

Hello people,

We've made a bit of changes at Pool42 !

Quote from: Ra'Jiska on Pool42
Hello fellow miners !

These last days we've been asking you your opinion regarding the hashrate limit in place, if we should remove it or not.
After having discussed with you all who decided to take the poll with us, exchanging your ideas and eventually the pros and cons,
it appeared that most of you were not really in favor of a hashrate limit removal, but more about a hashrate limit increase.

This is the reason why the pool hashrate limit will now be increased from 300 KH/s to 600 KH/s this way allowing medium-end
miners to come in while keeping large botnets out of the pool. This way, we hope to be able to counterbalance large pools such
as Minerclaim & Zpool in an effort to extract a decent amount of blocks per day as we used to.

We thank you all for taking part in this poll, and thank you for the constructive exchanges we have been able to have with you.
The new limit is effective from now on. Please note the tolerance of 15% is still effective.

Happy mining,
Regards.

When you say 'too old' can you please provide an indicative number of days? I have never managed to stake.
(I think) Its more in confirmations than days - the age of a block is determined by when it was created in the chain.

You can check the age of all of your coin blocks by selecting Options > Display > Enable Coin Control Features

From there a new panel will be opened called Inputs... under 'Send', if you click on that, you'll see the number of confirmations of all of your blocks

I usually send them back to myself if they are older than 10,000 confirmations since the chances of them staking becomes less at around there in my experience - there is an algorithm for setting the likelihood of a block being staked - see the whitepaper in the OP for more details if you are interested

Also check that you have posii=1 enabled in your magi.conf and optionally have the split and combine thresholds set - there are examples of this in the conf folder in the zip file that Joe prepared

Be sure that you also unlock your wallet for staking (I guess you already tried this)
