I still don't understand how my weight can be bigger than the network weight.

Who can explain this to me?

on test chain?
Nope, the real one!

Hi!

My first try here: Is there any Exchange where I can trade XMG? All those I tested either do not list it anymore (eg Poloniex) or do not let me create an adress I need (Novaexchange, Bittrex, Cryptopia)...
Without having the option to trade, it is almost useless to mine anymore... Huh

Any ideas? Thanks a lot!
You can read a few pages back.
We're testing new wallets. When they pass, exchanges will go back to working.

Will take a few days more, max

Thanks for your immediate response! Let's go on mining!

Welcome in our friendly Magi community.
Magi team requested the exchanges to put XMG wallets on maintenance mode until release of new wallets.
At the moment it looks like they (new wallets) are coming very soon.
Keep eyes here on the thread or other forums/social media.

Lol Edward0181 your respons was faster! 😃

Will let you know. Thanks Joe

Should we keep following with the only 104.128.225.215 node's chain (connect=104.128.225.215) or it's allowed to expand nodes list as regular (addnode etc)?
I ask because I've changed the "connect=104.128.225.215" to "addnode=104.128.225.215" and seems catch some strange behaviour

Coin of the Magi!
I have put a test chain on node 45.35.251.73. This is only for test; mining won't be valid:

Download the wallet and blockchain from the following:

http://coinmagi.org/bin/test/
(I'm away from my compiling setup so only 64bit binaries are available at the moment)

source: https://github.com/magi-project/magi/tree/v1.4.3-test

* v1.4.3.1
* v1.4.3.2: Updated protocol version so that prior version will be disconnected
* v1.4.3.3
Difficulty adjustment

Pls help the test (PoW & PoS mining). We'd see if this test comes out without forks.

The chain will proceed when PoS and PoW both are mined or in a pace of about 15minutes when block conditions aren't met. If you have coins in the official chain, you might be able to use that on the test chain for PoS minting (make sure backup wallet.dat).

Node:

Code:
addnode=45.35.251.73

I'd push another test wallet v1.4.3.3 which contains a difficulty adjustment. This is TEST, NOT the formal wallet.

The following likely changes are to be made to the final in addition to the fix:

1) Difficulty adjustment back to moving average of the last four blocks. In case of block checking (mixed PoW/PoS) not satisfied, difficulty remains unchanged.

2) The mixed PoW/PoS block checking rules:

In-between two PoW has least one PoS, or 10 min block time
Five PoS contains at least one PoW, or 3 min block time

It's likely better to have two PoS blocks minted than one between PoW blocks, however, this might get tricky as currently the block time of PoS and PoW is 1.5 and 3min. Therefore, I propose to change the PoW block time from 3 min to 4 min. Let me know.

Coin of the Magi!
So ordinary miners do not have protection from losing days?

XMG is not perfect. the profitability adjustment is what set XMG mining apart from any other POW. When it started maybe the reward system was optimal but of course miners would adjust and learn how to get more profit jumping in and out. Thats the game. So i believe it needs to be adjusted again but definitely the adjusting reward system should be kept. I suggested just a few days ago or maybe a week ago to incorporate a more random reward system. But dev thinks its not the way. Maybe he has another plan to tackle it.

Let us remember that the adjusting reward system was meant to prevent big farms from mining. Its meant to make the coin more centralized. Dev means well. unfortunately the flexible reward system is too straight forward so it can be exploited. And it is being exploited. Temporary or permanent reduction in max reward really wont solve anything in the long run as long as max is still profitable. Regular miners would suffer more than big farms. Big farms farm more than 1 type of coin thats why they jump in and out.

Unfortunately whatever reward you get is also same for everybody. Nobody has the upper hand. Just people with more resources.

I didn't yet give a deep thinking on the mining thing as I put all efforts into getting done fix first at this time. For that being said, I neither agree nor disagree randomness and I've mentioned this can be optional. This part must be clear.

Mostly it's the case that people make use of reward predication to mine, however, this is not a general case that is applicable to miners, like botnets. We've been through some old times, and had discussions with miner developers who believe chances are always there for some big miners despite how much small reward. They do care about profits for sure, however, they definitely mine the way differently from generic users. When we propose the randomness as one of the approaches, let's be clear the role of randomness in reducing miners.

This is the question I mentioned:

Randomness can be optional, while I'm wondering if randomness is mainly served to make block value guess be difficult? However, if we go patterning the average reward following a rule, I bet people can make use of the average rule.

It's for sure that there is bare chance we should go completely random blocks or we will make the small miners out of the scene, unless we have a strong reason

And yet, I wouldn't go complete random blocks at this point, as in the case big miners jump in who will actually control majority reward; the reward must make connections to parameter(s) that reflects the actual mining scene.

Put together, I would say randomness as additive can be considered, but we need to be clear its purpose and how it functions.

Let us remember that the adjusting reward system was meant to prevent big farms from mining. Its meant to make the coin more centralized. ..

I understand and appreciate the idea behind XMG and I don't see how you interpret what you just quoted to mean that a person will be protected from a losing day of mining, which is the comment of mine you were responding to.  What you quoted says that there will attempt to be a more fair distribution of coins regardless or hash-rate.  edit:  which i think is a good idea!

Anyone that has mined XMG, or any other cryptocurrency for that matter, can understand immediately that trying to guarantee such a thing as protection from a day of lost mining is completely impossible and misleading.  Right up there with promising a certain amount of overall return.  Thankfully, I have never seen anyone actually promise a miner such a thing and after following this thread for 3 years this is the first time i have even seen someone imply that they should have such protection.

Anyway I support XMG still and into the future.  But we cannot have miners thinking they are somehow protected form losses while mining XMG, that is totally disingenuous.
Thanks Jookly for your words. Appriciate your support!

Cool I think I understand what you all mean now.  It was worth clarification though just because of the phrase protection from losing days which I easily misinterpreted. XMG <3

Under protection, I do not mean any guarantees of a certain profit per day Smiley I really like the idea of this coin, and I want it to continue to develop;) I just would like to see fewer falls like today))))
