works for me - windows 7
1.I backup-ed wallet.dat
2.deleted completely
3.synced with new wallet
4.replaced new wallet with old wallet.dat
5.had coins missing
6.made shortcut on desktop with extra: -rescan

}new wallet,, synced with I guess supernova,,but coins were missing.. old synced wallet had synced ok symbol but was on 23482 something - 500 +- block behind supernova
so I erased zebra folder in roaming (wallet back up on a stick)
made shortcut from in wallet folder (after it synced) on desktop and name target with extra -rescan,, beacuse coins were missing ,, soo now its also with synced ok mark with all coins missing back
