Anyone knows how the platform protects against abuse? Sounds like it would be difficult to know if I just starts a video stream and leaves the phone on the table.
Yeah easy...you would get a few bad reviews and get kicked out from network.
How would they know? On what basis would someone get a bad review? You can't know if someone is streaming videos and really watching them. Maybe a small quiz at the end would help

Well I mean how far could you go with that kind of "abuse"? It's not like someone would buy a 1000 phones and start some stream on them just to make money.
Probably the fees for just watching a stream would not be so big to make that kind of abuse worth while.

I don't think they can. But that person would still have to share the content and pay for that content, and I don't think that it would be worth to them in the end. The media creator would still get something out of it.
I was looking through their web page and found something that might be related to this question in their FAQ segment under 'How do you remove any chances of users gaming or abusing the system to continually earn tokens?'.

Maybe with paid ads? Paid ads for content providers? I think they want to eliminate the in content ads YT has.
Definitely a different approach on marketing. Definitely paid ads, but tailored and only related to the topic at hand and probably because you watched the whole ad you will get rewarded for it.
