The idea could be interesting but I see a lot of problems also with verification of work. There will be a lot of contractual details in advance to make sure that it's clearly defined what someone pays for.
You're absolutely right. This is one of the challenges that we will face as we scale this project.
In fact, today, we're our own first use case - we are building Quidli on the basis that we offer all contributors equity in exchange for their labor. In terms of quality control, we're highly centralized as it's the core team who makes determinations on what is acceptable and what's not. I think it will be up to each project/company to determine the rules for evaluating deliverables.
One method we're considering is a DAO structure where the community can be called for arbitration. We will explore governance tools such as DAOstack to see how it could fit with our protocol.

A DAO solution could be the right one if the community is large enough. That way the community represents some type of average expectation. If somebody presents the case it is important to not have a one-sided opinion even among the community. The whole arbitration process will be the absolute key ingredient for your project.
Sure, we definitely need to reach a scale in terms of community in order to justify a shift towards a DAO. This is our long-term vision.
As stated, today we're working on a centralized basis and will have to continue to do so for the short-term. Accordingly, each contribution will need to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

That's a reasonable plan for now. Semi-automated arbitration through a highly scaled DAO is an interesting concept that so far nobody could really implement or achieve. It's exciting to one day see how such a system could work in reality.
