Just wanted to give some feedback about my results. After mining on the pool for ~12 hours, I noticed that my rate of blocks found/coins generated seemed to be 2x what I was actually getting in payout. Does it take longer than that for shares to catch up? Because I switched back to solo mining and am getting noticeably more coins per hour than on the pool. perhaps it is from latency? Cgminer reports ~500Mh/s faster per card when solomining.

  • pool mining = less risk better average
  • solo mining = more risk full reward

with low difficulty and a good working setup solo mining is better  Wink

I have about 50 BLC unconfirmed on the pool. ( they will get to me either way) But will switch to solo again I hope I don't disconnect and mine orphan blocks again. I don't have this issue on the pool.

check the timestamp on the blocks should be < 2hrs+ UTC/GMT time

I think so too because after saving and reloading the page, there was some number with many decimal places Cheesy

when I see kr105 online I will let him know  Smiley

In the pool, automatic payout can only be set to as low as ".1" not "0.01" as the description of that field says since it only allows input of 2 characters.

nice spotting I did not notice that, think it would just be a display issue in mpos front end?

finally gave up on the linux cgminer but got it working on windows for now. glad to see the pool is back up, thx. i look foward to mining blakecoin more, now that basic tools are all set up for blakecoin things should grow steadily from here on out Smiley i think it really could be a big thing. i am wondering if the source for the pool is/will be open source, since its always helpful for finding/fixing bugs and good to have several pools

Thanks to kr105 the pool software is available so I have put it on Github

you think it is not a blakecoin or cgminer256 issue?
i will try reaper although i don't like it at all Smiley
i haven't any issue of this kind with other coins in the past!

These are my real world results I know others have had better luck solo with cgminer but I can only test my rigs Wink

Blakecoin wallet + any cgminer using GPU has issues on my rigs was very difficult to get working 24/7
Blakecoin wallet + cgminer using more than 16 FPGA's per wallet has issues on my rigs, stable setting: 2x cgminer with 8 FPGA's each per wallet is stable 24/7
Blakecoin wallet + Reaper no issues it is very plain but I need to set the window properties for screen buffer width/window size width to 110 so it stops scrolling

0.8.9 was updated with the improvements from Bitcoin 0.8.6, I will look for ways to improve stability and compatibility it is just an ongoing process  Cool

Edit:
18 days is my longest run with reaper(closed due to wallet change)
3 days was my longest run with cgminer/GPU (just was not stable locking wallet or rig)
10 days with cgminer/FPGA(closed due to version update)

cgminer on the pool is stable more than the pool sometimes Wink

kramble's python FPGA miner is rock solid never had an issue with it

ok then. now the wallet has issues!
i am trying solo mining but wallet was stuck for over an hour without reporting new block,
i had to restart it in order to synchronize correctly with blockchain.
moreover, since i have several machines (NAT), sometimes cgminer256 (in various rigs) will not recognize the
wallet machine in order to mine! (this is random behavior)

reaper is the best at solo for me its more stable over a long period (win 7 x86/x64)

too many cgminer mining one wallet can have issues  Undecided

so, are you going to remove the fees for a while in order to compensate for the lost shares?

It is not my pool so I am not in control of things like that  Roll Eyes

I did report the issue many hours before it was fixed but considering the time of year and the fact that people need to sleep I think it was a quick fix  Cheesy

The issue with the pool was the clock on the server was not set to UTC/GMT(it was 4hrs+) and this resulted in a block timestamp too far in the future and was rejected by the other nodes/wallets on the network

from Blakecoin wallet log:
2013-12-26 14:41:04 received block 00000000000339c12f33eae41ed7038c60bb2aff768f26938921a71229e5e763
2013-12-26 14:41:04 ERROR: CheckBlock() : block timestamp too far in the future
2013-12-26 14:41:04 ERROR: ProcessBlock() : CheckBlock FAILED

it is also worth taking note that if you are solo mining and are getting orphans check your clock and the timestamp of the blocks you are creating make sure they are correct and close to UTC/GMT time https://github.com/BlueDragon747/Blakecoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L2149

this holds true for most coins that are based on Bitcoin not just Blakecoin!
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/0.8.6/src/main.cpp#L2109

The pool looks like it is working fine now with the correct block timestamp just waiting on the payout to be 100% sure Wink

Edit:
confirmed payouts are working

It should be working OK now, lets wait to the next block found and we will all make sure Smiley I had an issue with timezone settings and a syntax error on a cron job command.

I don't think it's ok.
My hashrate is way too high, I show no coins earned at all nothing but orphaned blocks in trasactions
