Well while bittrex is pretty aggressive in adding coins they weekly delist up to a dozen or so depending on trade volume, this is how they run their business.
I think it a better alternative than exchanges that demand huge ransoms be paid in bitcoin to be listed
I think in upcoming months the whole scene of mining and exchanges are going to evolve and I see the trends now.
I was looking yesterday at the weekly stats for wafflepool and middlecoin and the amounts of scrypt 1024 hash power to make .01 btc a day are really high. Waffle pool has mention they are looking at an x11 switching pool however soon things will be right back to where the are now. Soon people are going to have VERY few choices in what they can mine if the only reason they are mining the coin is to exchange it quickly into bitcoin.
If nothing is 'profitable' (using the exchange rate to bitcoin as a metric) to mine I think some people will switch off.
Now enter the Blake 256 family which provides a strong blockchain for security and the ability to merge mine multiple coins.
A true viable alternative system.
I know bluedragon has long term plans for blake coin and I am in discussion for some plans to use Photon in an online site that might be described at this stage as 'gambling style entertainment' but a little more than just dice.....
Since I am in the early stages of discussion I don't want to say too much or promise that this will be built anytime soon or ever since it is still just an idea I am tossing around with some contacts I have on twitter.
Atomic has certainly supported the Blake 256 family and also has a lot of cool features, without demanding the 'votes' in bitcoin to list a market.
Personally I think it is still pretty early and all in the family except Blake Coin are still really new coins. Photon was only launched in February.
I realize things in the alt coin scene are changing very quickly and most people are quite impatient.
Look how long it took bitcoin to get to where it is now and it was the first.
I am trying to take a patient, level headed approach. Even if Photon were not part of the merged mining and I was running it all on my own I would want it to be running stable and steady for at several months or a year or so before expanding it's footprint.
A little over a month ago I downloaded the development tools to make android wallets for bitcoin and litecoin with the idea of making the changes to build one for Photon and Blake Coin but then I thought to myself.....ok suppose I complete this , it holds up from a security standpoint (which is an issue for many mobile wallets) then what ? So what ? I realized I was probably barking up the wrong tree.
When we have things that the Blake Coin family can actually be used for by 'normal users' , a large online video game where there are thousands of people playing and the money is blake coin--- that would be cool
A casino where you can 'enter' and online play roulette, or other casino games with photon. Might be cool to 'enter' and gamble a million photon on a bet !!
These are examples of things that will help the development of the Blake 256 family over the long haul.
I welcome intelligent feedback from everyone.
it just feels odd that it's not on atomic.
