I'm trying to think of ways to use ATs for some sort of automatic CoinJoin, or perhaps an anonymous lottery where the winning account is unknown to any of the participants other than the winner. Has anyone thought about how ATs might solve these problems?

Thanks for the interest in AT and hopefully it will be a core feature that a lot of other very useful things can be built on top of.

As AT cannot keep secrets I think a very simple version of what you are wanting is not really going to be possible, however, I can think of one approach that might make it very hard for anyone to "follow the funds" and that is to make a variation of the current "atomic cross-chain transfer" use case (http://ciyam.org/at/at_atomic.html) in which the hash published in the initial AT is not the same as what is used in the other AT (which is created on another blockchain).

The idea would be that the second AT would have a hash that is a function of the first hash (rather than just the secret itself - you'd therefore have to calculate the relevant hash to feed the second AT offline). Although when there are very few ATs in existence it would still be easy to track the funds when there are thousands or more of such ATs it would become very hard to work out which transaction matches which (thus starting to approach the plausible deny-ability of CoinJoin assuming the function you used is sufficiently complex enough to not be discovered).

I'm pretty excited about the prospect of Automatic Transactions getting added into Burst. I've been reading up on them, and I'm trying to wrap my head around everything they're capable of. One big question I have is, is possible to use ATs to achieve unlinkability between accounts? (i.e, is it possible to use ATs as a way to increase privacy and anonymity?)

Is there a plot optimizer for Windows? I can only find the one for Linux.

10 seconds Googling for "burst plot optimizer":
Plot Optimizer v1.6 - j6jq @ https://burstforum.com/index.php?threads/plot-optimizer-v1-6-j6jq.268/

However, bitshare.com is lame - PM me if you can't download the file and i'll get you v1.5.

you need just to read OP

dcct's plot tools(faster generator, plot optimizer, c miner): https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8879760

Hm, why did I think dcct's tools were only for linux..

Thanks for the info.

I just tested Windows 10 tech. preview 64bit, on one of my boxes. The burstcoin wallet and the burstcoin reference miner (the original one, and wallet was 1.1.5) works just fine.

it all works straight away, i didn't have to change anything after upgrading. I upgraded in-place so i could keep settings and stuff.

one noticable difference is that RAM usage was much improved, the windows 7 bug where you suddenly either have exhausted all physical RAM, or is left with a 100GB pagefile and a pretty unresponsive and crashing system is totally gone.  I tried to throw 11 drives at it, totalling i don't know, maybe 30TB or so.  CPU gets maxed out just after a block starts, but that's not really a surpise given more than half of the drives are external USB ones, which utilizes CPU when transferring.

mining speed is comparable to windows 7, when win7 is not going memory berzerk.

Tech. preview is free until end of apr. but of course sort of alpha software so no guarantees that it won't be upgraded the next day and blow up spectacularily.

With increasing difficulty its impossible to make enough money out of it

The the least effective miners will use their disks for something else, and the difficulty will come down to a more reasonable level.

Or perhaps, if these miners think burst is coming up nearterm, they will keep mining, expecting to break even by holding the BURST while it appreciates.

the free markets will take care of things and distribute efforts to where they are most productive.

Can anyone tell me the proper syntax for the plot_optimizer_1.5 or 1.6?  I basically have
Optimizer.exe <> 12G <> ..it keeps outputting to a folder titled "12G".  I have tried a few different methods, kind of sick of looking.

Working on an all-in-one script for BURST mining.... Smiley

Yep, just got it fixed, thanks for pointing that out!

Dev, can you please vouch and add my Windows GUI miner to the OP please?

Thank you

Probably a virus!

Hmm.. there was a certain funbot or funcoin.. something like that that scammed the Nxt community.  Yeah, be careful downloading any software, particularly in the cryptocurrency field.  It's a great way for scammers to go after your passwords/wallets.

Burst, a cryptocurrency minable with your hard drive!

I wrote this article today on my blog, it gives an intro to Burst, I tried to keep things as simple as possible I did not go into any technical details just a very basic overview of how burst works and why burst is cool! If i missed anything let me know.

Donations are welcome: Smiley BURST-9EPG-BGGS-N5G8-HVFRK

Hi!

Introducing simple hazard game called:
GUESS SCOOP WIN BURST
(I was never good in naming things :-) )

See description of BURST-4BET-7D3W-ZMWX-D3W4J account.

Its about guessing the scoop number of every 5th block (blocks 37570, 37575, 37580,...) and its provably fair*.

Bet: 10 BURST
How to: Send 10 burst to address above (alias "scoopwin10" ) with unencrypted message containing number you guessing.

Your transaction must be in the block xxxx0-xxxx4 to be rewarded from the block xxxx5
(or xxxx5-xxxx9 to be rewarded from the block xxxx10)

Who guessed the closest number wins!

The guessing range is 0 to 4095 (if higher, its X mod 4096 )
Guessing range is "circle" - distance 4095 and 0 is 1

Invalid transactions (wrong amount of burst, no message, no number, encrypted message) are sent back (if amount is higher than 2 burst)

If there is only one guess in the round, there is postponed to next round.

Currently running "beta" before start with higher bets.

Bugreports, suggestions (and donations) at BURST-4WYN-ZUTY-EE89-9ZYP2

Fee is 0.5%

_____________
*
generation signature is shabal256(lastblock.generationsignate concat lastblock.miner)
scoop is chosen with shabal256(generationsignature concat blockheight) modulous 4096
number you guessing is choosen by you an you can check numbers of all other players (because are unencrypted)

For block 4 you know scoop of block 5, but your transaction will be included in block 5 ... and transaction included in the block 5 is heading to the scoop in block 10.

Interesting concept and every bit of activity around Burst can be of help.

Risking 10 Burst isnt too big of a deal, however the structure of the game does involve trust as you need to send the Burst back to the winners. Unless youre running a long con I guess we're ok Smiley

Thanks for this kind words.
I am not sure, if there is possibility how to do without sending burst to 3rd party. Even the original Satoshi Dice was based on sending BTC somewhere...

But, before sending Burst, you can check ( http://burstcoin.eu/address/13261835548395382169 ), if the game is still fair.
Currently there is one bet waiting for the "challenger" :-) And before it there were two transactions with guesses
1212 and 868 and the scoop was 3512

The 868 is closer to 3512 (over the zero, don't forget, its circle) and won.

About "long con" - only coins I can "stole" are from the current round - last 5 blocks. Not worth stealing.
From long run point of view, I will have income from fee (hopefully).

Don't be afraid of my honesty but my coding skill! :-D I hope I caught all bugs, but no one ever knows.
____
PS: for grammar nazi: I am not native speaker. ;-)
You might want to adjust the range it accepts guesses. The miner who mines block 4 will be able to include his own transaction in block 4 while knowing what scoop block 5 will require. I don't think anyone would bother doing that at this stakes, but just wanted to point out that the person who mines block 4 is able to cheat.

Thanks for pointing out!
I updated the ranges so for guessing scoop of block e.g. 30025 are used transactions in blocks 30019-30023.

Also I have suggestion how to improve trust to me.
We can use another BURST feature - Escrow.

I can create escrow transaction to one of faucet (or if there is some charity) account with 3-5 signers.
Signers will be members like
Burstcoin, uray, ...
(accepting suggestions who else Smiley )

Deadline - 7776000s (max)
Deadline action - refund.

If I run away with the bank, you can write to Signers to sign the the escrow
Signers will verify, if the request is legit and if is, they sign the escrow.

I am just not sure how much burst will be enough to make any fraud unprofitable.
Current bet is 10 burst.
There is cca 6000 active wallets.
One wallet can bet only once per round.
Assume, that there will never be more than half betting accounts in one round.
So... 30000 burst in escrow?

Summary:

Escrow 30000 Burst, 3 months
3-5 signers
1 recipient
recipient must not be signer
Signers sign the escrow if I disappear.
Its fair?

(on the end of period I can do another escrow transaction)

Also, I am looking for 10 beta testers
I'll send you 100 BURST and I want you to test BURST-4BET-6Q3W-P9JE-3H4PP (bet is 4 BURST)

Bump :-) Seems everything what scrolls out is forever forgotten, I got no reply last time. :-)
