I'm thinking about approaching Sea Gate or WesternDigital or some similar company about sponsoring Burst Coin, what do you think?

Think about it, Bitcoin miners have probably sold $1/2 billion in ASICs?  Ask a hard drive manufacturer if he's willing to spend maybe $100,000 a year in order to be called our official sponsor and get an ad on the homepage, which will help us get this coin seriously off the ground, and drive hard drive sales his way.. you may be able to convince one or two.  We've already got ~ 1 million dollars worth of hard-drives mining for the network... now imagine we had a little bit of money.

Or would the crypto currency community be turned off by sponsorship?  I think worth it to get that money and try to hire a few full time developers with it. We could help them set up a mining pool as well or something.

What do you guys think? Should I write a letter to either Western Digital or Seagate?  Anyone want to help me write it?

Anything that particularly needs to be cleaned up before being ready to show to them?

i need burst tagline for our burst web wallet lockscreen at https://burstcoin.io

it seems that "an energy efficient cryptocurrency" is not really fit, because PoS coins actually use less energy, and "HDD mined cryptocurrency" is too technical, i believe burst innovation is more than HDD mined, its a lot more, we need a tagline that describe its uniqness, features, technologies to target not only technical people but all cryptofinance user

if you have any idea please post on this thread...

It is Energy efficient.. once set-up, we barely use any more energy than PoS.  Especially if we could get one small addition to the code that I assume doesn't exist now.  If using an external, or non-primary hard drive to mine, allow switching it off when not in use.  Then what each miner turns on a couple times a day for a few seconds, mines, determines the next deadline, then turns off until approximately that time?  Seems quite energy efficient to me.

I think the advantages are:
Energy Efficient
ASIC resistant
Blockchain Trimmable  (this to me is the huge advantage over Nxt.. the one developer claims he's figured out how.. I say it's impossible though. Of course he's claiming he may add Proof of Work to the equation to do this.. and there goes their energy efficiency. Maybe best to implement this first before bragging about it though)

Uray, is the burstcoin.io web wallet as secure to use remotely as my local web wallet is?  I would love to check my wallet while on the road away from my local computer with this but I never saw a solid answer to whether this is secure enough for my wallet password.

Thanks...
BURST still alive ?
long time not to check here.

Wow, bro, neever been more alive!!! 250k market cap!!
thanks, it seems right for me not to sell it.

It's less secure than using a local wallet, even if you trust website owner and SSL is setup properly etc. The website can be hacked, and it's more likely to become a target of hackers once becoming popular. If you only want to check the balance, this can be done without submitting the passphrase.

I'm thinking of mining Burst. I have a 4tb WD cloud network drive. Can this drive be used, or do I need a regular HDD right off the MB?
I've tried searching, but 748 pages is a long read.
Thanks Smiley

It doesn't matter where the files are stored if they can be read fast enough. For 4 tb you'll need to read approximately 1 gb per block.
If read speed is 10 mb/s, files will be read in ~100 s. As many blocks are found faster than that, miner will be able to use only part of plotted space on these short blocks.

Would be nice to have an FAQ on the website, and this would be a good question to add to it!

should we use uservoice.com or answerhub.com for burst ? it has question and answer like stackoverflow.com

I have latest version installed 1.1.5 Getting following error

Warning: You are most likely on a fork (you have forged the last 10 blocks).

I'm finally making progress after a few hiccups!

But I have a question regarding plots in several locations,
should they all be part of one continual sequence?

C:\plots\0-1000
C:\plots1\1001-2000, 2001-3000
D:\plots2\3001-4000

or can they be

C:\plots\0-1000
C:\plots1\0-1000
D:\plots2\0-1000

Plots need to be done from end number seprate  where c drive is you need to do say 0 to 1000 then for 2nd plot 1001 and so on d is fine

As I understand it they should be sequential i.e. 0-1000, 1001-2000 otherwise you will be doubling up on the same work.  I also presume your plot files aren't that small are they?  Cheesy

Wow 200 sat its going up again.

I know I asked already but I dont get an answer. I want to know which miner gains more profit. The java miner or the C miner? THX

i think it is most important pool than miner for profittability...

@mmmaybe THX I will test them.

@fastBeast Which is the best pool in your opinion? At the moment i'm mining on http://burst-pool2.cryptoport.io/

I'm using uray's SG. But in the last 3 day the reward.is going down.
I do not know if i continue to stay there

come give my pool a try @ http://burst.ga

Hi,

I know it's probably somewhere in the 700+ pages but can any tell me an easy way to send Burst to my wallet with the public key that's required for first time deposits?  I just stupidly transferred a fair amount from Poloniex and lost it!  I've looked around but can't seem to find any exchanges that allow you to include the public key for first transfers.

Also, just plotting 6TB at the moment with plenty of room for expansion.  What is the minimum TB suggested at present to give a good chance of finding blocks?

Come join us at http://burst.ga ! Smiley

I've setup for your site and I think it's working but where your instructions say wait for 4 blocks to confirm I have a webpage up http://localhost:8125/burst with a long line of text and that's it.  Will more lines appear with each block or have I done something wrong?

That's correct, it means your submission went through, now just wait for the four confirms and you're good to go! Send me your burst address and I will give you the 1500 burst I was giving to newcomers a while back Smiley

Thanks! BURST-JKNG-PNZA-SSTY-46H3B . It seems to be working the same signature as shown on your site so I guess all good.

Any way of checking my setup now it's been connected for some time?  Seems every time it submits shares I get an error submitting nonce or the standard error reading file which I would expect as I'm still plotting.  Are there any shares that have been submitted at all yet?  I can't see my address on burst.ga
Assuming you're trying to mine with that same address( BURST-JKNG-PNZA-SSTY-46H3B ) your reward recipient is not set. That's why you're getting the submitting nonce errors. The reward assignment will show up in your wallet as a transaction for 0 burst with a 1 burst fee after it has been set.

This is the two lines that appeared in my wallet when I set the reward assignment as per the site instructions :-

I'd also like to add that I can't seem to obtain a public key for my wallet.  I've tried sending messages, buying an alias and sending money but everything seems to take 1 burst and sits there with no confirms.  Also when I buy an alias it appears for a couple of seconds and then goes back to 'No aliases yet, register one!'

Did I need to start re-plotting again once I joined the pool as I was already plotting for my wallet?

The / at the end indicates that it hasn't been included in a block yet. Does the peers tab show you are connected to the network? What is the most recent block you see, and what wallet version are you using?

Lots of peers, Block 33217 and version 1.1.5
The only thing I can think of is if there is some transaction your client has which isn't validating for other users, so when you try to broadcast it, all your transactions are getting rejected, and your client temporarily blacklisted. First check if your clock is set correctly. If it is set too far in the future, it could cause this situation. If your clock is fine, try clearing unconfirmed transactions. There are 2 ways of doing this. The easy way is close the client, delete the burst_db folder, reopen it, and by the time it finishes syncing again the blacklisting will have worn off and you can try it again. The harder(but faster) way is to edit the .conf file in the /conf folder, setting "nxt.enableDebugAPI=true", restart the client, go to http://127.0.0.1:8125/test?requestTag=DEBUG in your web browser, click clearUnconfirmedTransactions, then submit. Wait at least 10 minute(for blacklisting to expire), then try the reward assignment again. Alternatively, this might fix itself if you wait long enough since the transactions will expire and disappear if they don't get into a block.

Awesome! I got blacklisted Smiley  OK, I've gone the easy way and it's all fired up again and downloading the blockchain.  Fingers crossed.  I'll report back.

OK, blockchain downloaded again and my coins are back Smiley  Problem though... I've set the reward recipient again to BURST-7CPJ-BW8N-U4XF-CWW3U and it's just sitting there with a '/' under confirms again.  Could I still be blacklisted?  Should I give up on this wallet and start another, possibly loosing my coins because I can't get them out?  I'd have to delete my plot files and start again but good opportunity to use a faster plotter.

How many tb's do you have? According to the pool op (uray) 10tb is too little for the SG pool. Correct address is http://pool2.burstcoin.io, btw.

I thought the old and the new address will work for the pool?

And I only got a few TB. I know its not much but I want to support this coin and I'm happy with a few $ in Burst.

With only a few TB you should use whatever pool you like, except uray's SG (http://pool2.burstcoin.io).

Thx so I will stay on my pool for a few more weeks.
