If I do not have any btcz wallet or other currencies, the BZEDGE wallet does not work for me?

BTCZ fork was successful, but old chain remained active and unmaintained, so a group of developers and crypto enthusiasts adopted it and name it BZEdge.
At block 200.000 BZEdge implemented another fork and changed the POW algorithm to Zhash in order to maintain ASIC resistance. At the same time, block time was reduced from 2.5 minutes to 1 minute to allow for faster transactions. This fork was not revealed to the public in order to prevent a repeat of the severe equihash attacks that happened when the first batches of ASIC miners wreaked havoc on many chains.

This was the only reason to hide this info from public ?

There are several reasons but that was the main one leading to this delay. To name a few other reasons: development and testing of Zhash and LWMA difficulty algo, main infrastructure ready.

This wasn't completely hidden, it was made public in BTCZ discord for a short time. We didn't knew if we were ready for tons of miners jumping in.

the wallet does not open me in windows

Here are some instructions on how to start the wallet.

This is a pre-release.
You will need to install Java Runtime environment to run the Graphical user interface wallet.
https://java.com/en/download/

Zcash Parameters
================
You will need to install the cash-parameters on your computer.

If you have run daemon wallets for other coins listed below, you wil likely already have this installed.:
BitcoinZ
Zcash
ZEN
SnowGem
ZEL
Zclassic
BitcoinPrivate
SAFEcoin

If you haven't run any of these before, then download the following:

http://downloads.bzedge.org/sprout-proving.key
http://downloads.bzedge.org/sprout-verifying.key

Open a command prompt type cmd at start menu. This will open a black window with white text.
Assuming you have downloaded to your downloads folder. then copy and paste each of these three
lines one at a time into the cmd window, pressing return after each.

mkdir "%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\ZcashParams"
move “%HOMEPATH%\Downloads\sprout-proving.key” “%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\ZcashParams”
move “%HOMEPATH%\Downloads\sprout-verifying.key” “%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\ZcashParams

Setting up BZEdge conf
======================
When you have your proving keys, paste the following into your cmd window:

mkdir "%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\BZEdge"
notepad "%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\BZEdge\bzedge.conf"

Notepad will open. Put the following in the file then save. You should change the rpcuser and rpcpassword.

daemon=1
showmetrics=0
rpcuser=something
rpcpassword=secure

Now double click on your BZEdgeWallet.jar. It will take a while to synchronise. The progress will be shown in the
lower right hand corner. As of July 2018, it will need to download about 2.1Gb of blockchain.

Keep up to date
===============
The BZedge daemon is in rapid development, and needs to be updated approximately fortnightly until late August 2018.
This most likely only needs the bzedged.exe file swapped for the latest.

The success of a community-driven concept is really tough. I wonder how you will handle such disadvantages - slow progress because of relying from your community, also decisions are made slow because you need to attain the consensus from your community, and so on...So why did you decide this project to be community-driven?

Thank you for posting your concerns. Community thoughts are more like an advice to the people leading the project than a deciding factor. For high importance subjects and tasks the lead have the last word to say.

Of course, we keep in mind how our community wants to be lead in this project, but we will not let this slow us down on deciding factors.

A short guide made by a community member on How To claim BZE coins

How to claim your Bitcoinz for Bzedge
Taking in consideration the fact that BZedge was born from Bitcoinz, when they have forked from
equihash to zhash, the old Bitcoinz chain got protected against the double spending attack and later in
time BZedge forked too from equihash towards zhash in order to keep the ASIC resistant standard.
If you have previously mined BitcoinZ, before they forked to zhash and you want to claim your BTCZ coins
as BZedge coins, then read below:
1. If you still have your wallet.dat file placed inside “%AppData%/Roaming/BitcoinZ” then after you
finish setting up your BZedge wallet, you can overwrite your BZE wallet.dat (the one from
“%Appdata%/Roaming/BZedge”) with the one you had from BTCZ wallet (the one from
“%AppData%/Roaming/Bitcoinz”)
After this has been done, let the wallet sync and you`ll be able to see your BTCZ in your BZE wallet.
2. If you have a Copay or Coinomi wallet and you wish to import your BZEdge funds into the Java
swing wallet, you will need to first obtain a private key for each address which held funds in 17th
June.
You may generate your private key from the pass phrase you used to generate the wallet.
a. In the Android/Copay wallet, you can click settings->wallet name. Click backup. Make a note
of the passphrase.
b. Go to: https://coinomi.com/recovery-phrase-tool.html and type your recovery phrase into
where it says "BIP39 recovery phrase".
c. Select coin BitcoinZ Under derivation path, select the BIP32 tab. Enter m/44'/0'/0'/0 into the
derivation path.
This will give you a long list of Address|Public Key| Private Key You can find out which addresses hold your
balance by going to settings -> wallet name -> More options -> Wallet addresses.
This will show you a list of addresses with balance.
If you have spent BTCz since 17th June, you may want to check your addresses on the block explorer, to
see which have a balance.
You can then lift those private keys which match your addresses with a balance. Those private keys may
then be imported into the java swing wallet in BZE in order to claim your previous BTCZ.
