While waiting... I've a new idea for Crypto world.

Just got the return calls from both,  data recovery Gillware and my insurance company.
The drives were severe damage. All chipset affected beyond retrievable. Except one. Some may work. I will be inform by Monday noon. I contacted my insurance company to keep them update. The surprise feedback was: we will cover the HardDive recovery costs however data in the drives not. Especially Crypto currencies.....on and on explanations...

After cool down, sudden hit my mind. What if someone start an insurance business to insure anything to do with Crypto currencies? Fantastic idea isn't it? I am so sure no one has thought before.

Cheer!!!

wouldn't work, insurance rate would have to be really high or they'd lose money. Plus how do you verify claims

That's right imo too. There are so much scam claims around with real world properties. But... who knows, maybe we'll see such service. I guess, this service should be coin traffic gateway, repository as well. The insurance for failed hard drives are out of question. Such kind insurance should be for something like happened with C2.

Don't be so quick to judge.

On a personal level perhaps this would not work, but what if you offered it to business who met security and data recording standards and or the same for exchanges. Then this would work very, very well.

Just an idea in draft mode. lol. Never let the unfortunate event beaten you, turn it into inspiration. Smiley
Let says, create a policy let the new coin Dev insure with certain percentage in order to be listed. As insurance company, will provide audit the product security, infrastuture of the infant start-up coin..etc.
Insurance company then resell the accepted policy to investors to hedge against other coins or Bitcoin... Etc.
Hmmm!  I am talking about create a Crypto derivative instrument to get insurance company stay afloat. lol..

Am I desperately losing my mind or what? lol

Now we've at least couple options on the table to help solve the problems which is great and sign off Coin2 community is getting the interest of talented people. This is not just good or great news but more than an excellent news.

Let's focus on step 1, diagnose the block chain to attempt retake the node that suspicious to be the cause.
If this option not working, then go for  UdjinM6 & Freddag agreed on proposed solution. How's that sound? The worst case scenario is adopt the proposed update NC2 wallet before the swap?
I also consider the presence of new talents in the community as an excellent news.

Many thanks to UdjinM6 and Freddag for their help, diagnostic and proposals.

Quick update:
Kalisto is currently digging to find the block chain problem.

I know I will be annoying with my query... I apologise for that in advance!

In the last posts there was discussed, how to release coin swapping, but no information about code update.

Could board members please give as some hints how far the code is developed and/or is it brewed so the swapping is the last thing to do. I admit that things move quite slowly and strongly in behind-the-scene manner.

Yes, and some words from Joel would be grateful. His last post is about how close he is to quit... That makes nervous not only me, taking into account recent problems with unconfirmed transactions.
The Dev team is working hard and the new wallet is going to be coated in the silk. This is why we already think about the next stage.

We added some extra features like a punching ball allowing the users to let off steam when everything goes wrong.

It was important for us to take some (good) time to evaluate the situation and the alternatives before development.

We apologize for the delay and we understand very well your concerns.

You will get new coin specification and answers very soon.  Wink

As old saying, the harder you fell, the stronger you'll become.
The more you hurt, the tougher you get.

Just be patience. Current facing is not simply fix it but rather fix it good and resolve multi fronts problem solving. Coin2 will harvest bitter sweet in time to come.

hey King Arbin, any ideas why a deposit to bittrex has no confirmations an hour and a half later?

Cause the network is kinda gone to hell atm.. just wait, i have received word from the exchanges that they have your unconfirmed so things will still be ok during the conversion, but just do like FredDag was saying and try to rescan your blockchain or redownload it. We are gonna have to manually convert peoples coins by having them send their wallet.dats to us AFTER everyone has the new wallet so they have a new address to tell us where to send their coins.

Well, sending wallet.dat is not that great idea imho  Undecided

I already said it before (many pages back) - the way for someone to prove he owns the address is to make small transaction - it seems more safe and easier to make.

The process could be something like that:
1. You (dev) announce "change address" (so you can easily track it)
2. You ask everyone to send you PM with their new and old addresses
3. You reply to every person who sent you that kind of pm with some small random number, let's say below 1 NC2 like 0.32451
4. This person have to make transaction with exactly that number of NC2 from his old addresses to that "change address". So he should do few steps in his wallet console (backing up wallet.dat first of course)
* repair wallet (just in case he have already sent the whole amount and it stuck in unconfirmed state, should help but I'm not sure about that)
Code:
repairwallet
* for every account name listed in his wallet
Code:
sendfrom
5. Once you have transactions from his old addresses you send amount of new coins equal to his old balances sum to his new address.
6. ....
7. PROFIT!!!  Grin

I guess this should work even when network is almost dead and transactions are not confirmed.

The only problem I see here - scammers - you have to make sure:
- it's not his 2nd/3rd/and_so_on pm and you didn't sent him coins already
- address he sent from match the one he claims to be his own exactly (he can send from another address to fool you)
But blockchain explorer and some kind of address list would help to solve this issues Wink

ps. King, check your PMs plz

repairwallet command in console brought coins back into my wallet from limbo.   Smiley
