Ok I've been quiet mostly for a few days thinking about this, don't know what the rest of the board thinks really, but its my opinion mintpal does have some kinda responsibility to this. Wouldn't if the network was getting attacked, mintpal should have noticed on day #1. Instead, they ignored it or knew about it, and it went on for 3 days. I've been a little out of it a few days so I picked up bits and pieces of what went down, mintpal doesn't really affect me as I have nothing there and wasn't excited about them to begin with. Now thought from what I hear, we were attacked, and now they are holding your C2 until they are compensated, saying they aren't held responsible for what happened that someone attacked and the devs are...

So we have a dev whose commitment is wobbling and a board that don't speak to each other.

This isn't an attack on any individual in particular but somebody really needs to get their hands around this thing. People need to start communicating with each other.

A board is supposed to have meetings and come to a consensus.

Does this ever or has this ever happened?

If not why not?

We talk all day every day.

Fair enough. I misinterpreted the gist of the comment then. My bad.

Of course you misinterpreted the gist of the comment, you have been here saying the same thing over and over and over again the same exact thing.

then you bold a tiny bit of text, completely take it out of its context and then argue the same point you have been arguing for days. just because that single half sentence is related to the message you are "trying" to get across

say what? LOL! Wink

Then glen decided that out of all that paragraph , to only use "don't know what the rest of the board thinks really" to base his whole conclusion and arguement. it was based off of 10 words of the whole paragraph. He didn't misinterpret he flat out ignored everything except those 10 words and drew his own conclusion from that

Actually thats where your wrong, I am committed 100%, no where in my comment do I say I lose trust in C2, my comment is towards mintpal holding the communities coins for ransom. That is definately not the right solution when it was their lack of making the coins take longer to confirm on their end, but we could make them take longer on our end as well.. don't know if joel would agree or not, but longer confirm times would allow time for the attackers coins to null out since the coins would be on a separate block chain. I wish I could do the code for this, but I can't.

Fortunately, our coins are mostly spread among the exchanges except few in. backup.

I wonder why not destroy those excess 40 million coins in separate 2 wallet to prevent temptation or being hacked in the future? That way, nobody able to access it and no one could do another over spending hacked.

Unless I misunderstood it's technical suppose to...

If the addresses with the 40 million coins were rendered inaccessible then they would be unstakeable and have no part in securing the network.

So wait you want the people who were staking (myself) and who are generally longer term recoup the loses made by mintpal and sorry if I offend anyone but traders who most probably sell anyway. I know some people just sit their coins on an exchange but most are there to...buy and sell.  Some might have got caught in the cross hairs.

....I choose no.

Or MintPal could simply increase trading fees to 1% to cover the loss.
....

As Dev team member and C2 holder I agree to cooperate with MintPal.

I agree with you. First of all we have to get some report from mintpal to understand what happened exactly and how huge the damage actually was.

yes.
let devs to work with mintpal and give detailed calculation.
if we can not separate, we can simply make 500,000 as a limit. all holders with more than 500,000 coins on mintpal and top100 are required to cover   up certain percentage of the loss.

all we need to do is ask ppl to stand out and contribute in such a crisis.

And that's where I disagree.

I'm in top100 too but why are we speaking of top100 only? I was staking every coin I have - moved to local wallet just few minutes after I bought and still keep it open all the time. And some guys could be trading all day long at the same time. So they actually caused the loss not staking some, not me, and why would I have to pay for them while they will pay nothing? Securing the network is everyone's responsibility but this lesson will never be learned by them then.

We can't expect our holders to pay for Mintpals lack of security.
this also ^^^

But once again, first things first - we need that report from mintpal. That should be a starting point of whatever decision we are going to come to.

what ever it is, we have to cooperate with mintpal. otherwise we are in a impasse.

i am among top100. i do not risk my investment.

i keep faith in the dev team and also want this rising platform.

i am willing to sacrifice if we have no other solution.

just make it quick and same amount.

if we can sort it out, C2 will give more confidence to potential development.

together we will survive and thrive.

so please, devs.

avoid war, we want smooth solution. ask other guys among top100.

i hope they can understand and all for this proposal.

Did I just misunderstand what I had just read? There's no way I would support such Robin hood proposal.

If Mintpal wants,  they could increase the fees to recoup their lost. I rather use my set aside coin2 as faucet, donations, or bounties for projects than irresponsible corporate ignorance...

sorry. that suggestion just pop out of my mind.

i don't know if it can work or not. i am also worried about my investment.

i think going that way is almost like a donation to those ppl buying from double spend or attacker.

i just hope we can go back to exchanges and let devs do their development.

UPDATE: I AM GOING TO FINISH UP THE NEW CODE AND WE WILL THEN START EXCHANGING OLD COINS.

INSTRUCTION.

IF YOUR COINS ARE ON AN EXCHANGE, LEAVE THEM THERE!  THE EXCHANGE WILL SWITCH THEM OVER.

IF YOUR COINS ARE IN YOUR WALLET, READ BELOW.

1. Send a screenshot of your wallet including date and time.
2. Include a copy/paste of your old wallet address and copy/paste of new wallet address.  ( Obviously as soon as you have the new wallet.)

I will notify everyone when the new wallet is ready.  Thank you.

New coin supply will be 90 mil.  30 mil will be on 2 publicly view able addresses, and will never be spent.  They are the safety coins to prevent this from happening again.

can't we just send our local coins to an exchange like last time?

for example.

if the lost is 20million.

20-1.6=18.4 million

1. mintpal cover 5 million
2. 13.4 million shall be covered by top100. as you said total supply around 61 million, so every top100 contribute around 20% for coin revival. (top100 only allowed to swap coins on mintpal)

maybe we lost 20% now, but we can get back on track and with all developing projects.

total supply still remain the same number as before.

C2 will get stronger if we agree to sacrifice.

thanks sir.

i don't know if dev team is willing or not to sacrifice the reserve.

if you do, we top100 can lose less.

just need devs to negotiate with mintpal.

we do not want to annoy them. i think both mintpal and devs are nice persons in real world.

we are all learning in the wild west.

as i said, let devs and mintpal do the math.  i am willing to sacrifice certain part of my investment.

if you work out the solution, i will show you my address to prove it.

i do think this is a quick solution.

just need c2 followers to stand out and say yes.

but before we go like this, we have to make sure:

1. make c2 attack proof
2. detailed instruction (do the top100 need to set up a new account on mintpal)
3. some mintpal account also has large amount of C2, how to kindly ask them also to sacrifice? i think those top100 with wallet are victims, because they are staking everyday.
