"...people tired of scam coins...secure and good...and support team in their efforts."

Agree.

Steady as she goes.

When and if PoS has its day, the masses and whales will choose.

Blackcoin and Peercoin are less secure, due to their transparency, but they have been around awhile.

Lately, Peercoin has more than doubled in value, which gives hints about PoS resurgence.

Ethereum is trying to be the "world computer" and use PoS, as I understand it. Not using the K.I.S.S. formula. Not private.

If you run Google Trends, you can see that "Proof of Stake" is getting more hits lately, worldwide.

Cloakcoin could benefit, especially as India is eliminating cash and trying to regulate cryptocurrencies. If 90% of ATM's in your country ran out of cash, what would you do? What could you do in a country full of youthful computer geeks?

This whole issue of governments regulating money into repetitive devaluation cycles and controlling public PoW blockchains (bitcoin/litecoin etc.) could create a cascade effect.

It sure would be nice if Cloakcoin could be there when such an "effect" occurs.

But maybe the name and the original thoughts behind Cloakcoin turns some people off. Cloak and Dagger. Reminds one of something bad, but don't judge by the book cover.

Think instead of a "cloaking device."

I think main event will be code revealing, this will change everything. Why? Because people tired of scam coins and like to know if something is real secure and good. Everything else will be like cherry on the top. Till then we must be very calmed, and support team in their efforts.

I tell you what I think I can do to help cloak and many others in this thread can do for very cheap as well. For the foreseeable future I will be sending all minting rewards to the development fund. Also I will be sending them via enigma so that even the people new to cloak and can see and be rewarded in running the node. First I think this will help in a small way for development until a better solution is implemented. But second and more importantly, all the new people with their wallets open looking for rewards this will encourage them to stay on. People need to see enigma in action and its rewards. I ask everyone in this thread with some staking rewards to send them from now on to the donation address through enigma. Go Cloak
not a bad idea just need to get more people on board this volume is lowwwww

Fresh starts are iffy. Ripple had a falling out with one of their main devs and he started Stellar, but it took years. Both have different philosophies.

Ripple plays the game at hand. Stellar went non-profit. Both are centralized organizations.

Shadowcash, which I understand absorbed some of the early Cloakcoin devs, is trying a new route with a shopping network. A black-market. Witness as Shadowcash loses ground. I don't give a crap about a shopping network. I want a private coin -- functional money -- and I will decide where I will spend it.

The reason, IMO, cryptocurrencies work is because, generally, all the currency on earth is public manipulated crap. You are manipulated.

I used to like AEON and Monero, but is PoW really any good? By itself? Huge slow blockchains? Dinosaurs that don't yet know the asteroid is coming? The last gasp?

Even Gavin Andresen, if memory serves, felt that a PoW/PoS solution was a good idea. Early on, Cloak was PoW.

A name change, IMO, if the Cloakcoin Devs decided, should only be that. Let the code be. Skip the ICO's and taxes.

It's not about labels. It's about trust. Trust brings customers. Customers bring cash. Cash rewards the Devs and the improvements (updates) should then come naturally.

I like what one of the Cloakcoin Devs said. Even a bad reputation is better than no reputation.

Sorry for being so "positive" about Cloakcoin today, but I call them like I see them. In the past, I've made a few bucks predicting. We'll see what happens this time.

If you do go ahead with a fresh start, please do make sure the original cloakcoin community don't get burnt for less than 50cents per coin.

Actually, let me re-amend that too $1 per coin.

Personally I think a fresh start is a good idea, aslong as the time frame to do this isn't too long. Cloakcoin then to be exchanged to the new fresh start which IMHO should be just called "Cloak", drop the coin as it's been said many of times, it's unnecessary. Add a bonus for those who transfer cloakcoin to cloak, to support the original community.

I suggest updating the website to a paid/or customised wordpress theme which is clean, effective and attractive. Aswell as trying to buying something like cloak.org or something, with the ICO funds.

Cloakcoin has alot of potential, but personally I think it's just lingering from a revival which only has a low pulse.

If you do go ahead with a fresh start, please do make sure the original cloakcoin community don't get burnt for less than 50cents per coin.

My Easter Pep Talk...

Bittrex trade has been dropping over the last 24 hours, but prices are stabilizing -- and Livecoin trades are edging up.

If people were to do their homework; compare Cloakcoin to all of the others pulling down more trades, they might be pleasantly surprised.

I would love to see this coin jet up to number 7 on coinmarketcap.com. In the 300,000,000 USD or EUR range. On par with DASH prices.

If that happened, the gravitation would be difficult to resist. DASH Masternodes would probably begin to jump ship. Not to mention other investors and pumpers.

The GUI wallet functions fine for me. I've only been up for a few days, but actually PoS mine more coin than I did with PoW coins, as a small investor. And no machines buzzing away sucking down power. No configuring miners etc.

I had Cloak in the past, but sold them all. I'm beginning to think that was a big mistake now.

I had DASH when it was cheap. Sold out before the big pump. I felt that DASH had issues, too centralized, enforced bag holding (masternodes), a pre-mine, and a founder who had a questionable background.

I'll be buying in some more Cloak, gradually. Running my decentralized node.

But also I think, if the code will be published but Cloak not appears at Polo it will be not good.
So, the first, we have to secure some guarantees from Poloniex about this movement.

Poloniex only accepts open source
I think
yes they only accept coins with open code which is fine, there are plans to go open source sometime this year. when that time comes cloak will take the next step forward from there.

If Cloakcoin becomes popular, which I think it will, Poloniex will lose out. Greed will bring them calling.
How do you think Cloakcoin faster bocomes popular with Poloniex support or without it?
I think for now the fast way is the right way.

If Cloakcoin decides to keep their code proprietary and we know the developers, I thinks it's far better than publicizing the code and not knowing the developers, i.e., Monero.
And much more better is to know the developers and read the public code ))

But also I think, if the code will be published but Cloak not appears at Polo it will be not good.

@gri0

If Poloniex only accepts open source, then there might be a problem. If Cloakcoin becomes popular, which I think it will, Poloniex will lose out. Greed will bring them calling.

I'm not sure where I read it, but there was discussion about allowing some Cloakcoin source out, but obfuscating the critical parts.

Ultimately, even if Cloakcoin declines to publicize its code, they must like the bankers of old, earn the trust of their depositors. In that sense, posting their photographs online speaks volumes.

Monero has one public spokesman -- Ricardo -- but has now opened its code, as I understand it. And yet, Monero can change that code. There are also ways to remove "keys" from the code -- create very hard to find back doors etc.

So one critical issue is "trust."

If Cloakcoin decides to keep their code proprietary and we know the developers, I thinks it's far better than publicizing the code and not knowing the developers, i.e., Monero.
