i'm having problems setting up google 2fa on exmo.
tried several times yesterday and today with no luck. scanned the bar code several times and typed in the code manually but no worky. Cry

"Error 10418: Incorrect password"

just sent them a support ticket.
anyone else had this issue?
GhostPlayer had an issue, but it got fixed. They'll help you.
ok cool.
just got a response but it is not in English. hmmm

I thought that too the first time I used support. Keep going down the e-mail, and you will see the English response. This is definitely something they can improve on.

yep, they are helping me right now. best response time from any exchange I've ever dealt with and i have dealt with a lot of them.

Definitely one for the "WTF?" category! Good for you guys, maybe we can call a truce to all of this trolling and both projects can focus on our tasks at hand...
i've gone back and forth with fp on reddit and btctalk a few times and he is "usually" pretty pleasant, for a monero guy  Wink

Why is the XMR blockchain so bloated?

It's about 2-3 GB, which I don't consider bloated. The main reason it is even that large was a bug in the early pool software, long since fixed (blocks temporarily got very large around block 100K).

Because due to the insanity of default anonymity

There has been no default anonymity and won't be for another month or so, so obviously this has nothing to do with it. For better or worse about 80% of the transactions have been done without mixing (rough figure, the exact number has changed over time).

the only way to prevent double-spending is to keep track of every freaking spent key image, thus creating basically a second blockchain within the blockchain.

The spent key images are tiny, so no, that isn't a large part it at all.

In addition, Darksend transactions are relatively large as well. Therefore, if such a thing gets enforced at the protocol level (and thus mandatory) the DASH blockchain will "bloat" too.

(the instant "mixing" on the monero network)
instant???
a monero guy did a test a while back and he said it took him around 10 minutes to mix just a few dollars worth of monero. how long to mix a few hundred worth of monero? how about a few thousand?

The relevant question for this thread is: How long will it take to mix 100 DASH with two rounds of Darksend?

It takes days I think.
nay, my last test took a few hours.

How many coins you are sending (with or without ring signature "mixing") makes no difference to how long the transaction takes.

If you are a target, the attacker can just create some mixing transactions and mix them with you. The masternode will do the actual mixing, but the sybil attacker knows his own mixing transactions and thus can deanonymize you fairly easily. This is certainly true when the liquidity/activity (e.g. only a few Darksend transactions per hour) in the DASH mixing network is low. Liquidity providers don't really help, because when they are spied upon (or forced by a TLA to give them a backdoor), the spy (or TLA) can see all the mixing logs and can connect the dots trivially. I want to mention here that a lot of masternodes are hosted on cloudhosting servers. Therefore, the OPSEC is in the hands of the cloudhosting companies. In addition, as far as I know the liquidity providers are known figures from the DASH community which also makes it easier to connect thet dots.

Wildly implausible scenario. Your entire argument hinges on the fact that the attacker must know exactly when I'm about to mix (which they don't) and have access to every hosting provider with every Masternode because they can impossibly know which Masternodes are going to be used for the mixing process. Just one node off their radars and they can kiss their attack goodbye. You expect anyone to believe that an attacker, even nation states, can get access to every hoster in the world with Masternodes on them? What about people running private Masternodes at home? As I said, your attack scenario has nothing to do with reality.

Also more important differences.
Can they de-anonymize anything after the fact in Dash? No, because it happened off-chain.
How about Monero? Yes, retroactive exposure will always remain possible.

Why is the XMR blockchain so bloated? Because due to the insanity of default anonymity the only way to prevent double-spending is to keep track of every freaking spent key image, thus creating basically a second blockchain within the blockchain.

I said it in the past and I'll say it again:
Optional Anonymity >> Mandatory Blindness
Retroactive-proof Off-Chain mixing >> In eternity vulnerable on-chain mixing
