This is what UdjinM6's solution does for Liquidity Provider. It turbo charges Darksend without bloating the blockchain.
Mixing sits idle in the wallet, with engines in turbo mode, but only releases the brakes when someone else needs mixing.
At least, that's how I understood it. Sort of like this

do we see any evidence that this large mining entity which seems to be using hidden cryptominers to reach these insane high hashrates is dumping his mined Dash

It would explain the increase and if that's the case he has the incentive to not damage the coin/network... but this is just speculation.
He mines enough blocks to make a new MN every two days. The rate of growth of the MN network far outstrips that, so he isn't the cause. Not to say that he doesn't contribute, but we've been growing MUCH faster than 15 new MN's per month.
