I agree, and I like the colors. Just a thought, I don't have one in front of me, Roll Eyes but what about employing the colors and cryptic references to the new $100 bill? Cool

Like morse code the word DARK instead of DASH?

I think that is exactly why Evan HAD to buy the rights to Dashcoin, to prove "previous use of the name" to the patents office, or trademark office.... idk, picking up the pieces and no law background, only sciences.

Being crypto based, who knows? If those few "dash payment systems" co-exist, why not us too?

Anyway, from what I gathered this was more of an experiment of procedures, than procedures themselves, but JUST LIKE ALL THE MOTHERF*CKN' .... sorry ... FORK .... we had in the past, this can very well be yet another blessing in disguise!

I love what is happening, especially the community playfully jammin' along. This is cool, revealing and magical.

What we're currently doing with DASH is just for fun and games. There is nothing official, except loads of hard work to get the job done right, whatever the name!

Can we move forward?
Eduffield Fernando Minotaur what is DASHs next move? Are we taking the testing again...whats the plan?
We need a clear path to follow.

Sorry to labour this point about "digital" vs "cash". I'll just post this last remark and then shut up about it.

Check this scene where Morgan Sturlock asks the merchant "what's the upside of bitcoin for you".

The merchant is categorical about the distinction with "credit card" (i.e. digital) money - i.e. that bitcoin is like cash. He gets it immediately (the money that is, not the concept).

I agree with you. It's important to understand these subtle nuances which could make or break how it's perceived.

(BTW - just worked out from the figures the shopkeeper mentions to the customer about his purchase that BTC was at $637 when this video was made. How things have changed!)

But your point is well taken--any new name will need to be vetted.

..."Darkcoin" simply isn't appropriate and doesn't appeal to a wider audience or user base...

Cool, agree!

Just want to copy my post from DCT:

The funniest thing is... DarkMarkets also don't want to use anonymous coin with "Dark" name!  Grin Grin Grin
They do not want to attract unwanted attention.

They want anonymous digital cash with "white" name and with lots of legal users - so they can safely lost among them!
+1 alex-ru very true too. Cheesy

Digital Cash has intrinsic meaning, but is a mouthful.

I'm just thinking about it from a merchant's point of view. A merchant is only interested in knowing if it's "credit money" (which to them is digital) or "cash money" (which is immediate). If you say "digital cash" to a merchant thats like saying "credit-cash" and loads it with ambiguity.

i.e. To a merchant the word "digital" equals PDQ machines and that means fees, adverse chargebacks and all. So it has negative conotations.

To make it unambiguous (for the merchant) I think it should be cash. Private-Instant-Cash.

Us - "Hey there, how about you start accepting DASH? "
Merchant - " DASH? what on earth is that? "
Us - "Well, essentially, its digital cash"
Merchant "Oh ... ok... I dont get it, isn't VISA digital? or Paypal"
US - "Well... not really, its really more like cash, here's why...

Whatever the outcome, forever in his mind Dash is implanted in his brain as digital cash. Instant phonetic association.

Now read that again, but with Darkcoin.

Long time lurker and hodler here - bought the first DRK in early March 2014. Also am a happy owner of several masternodes that are running without any issues for weeks now.

This is my first post and might get a bit long - so please bare with me and be nice Smiley

Overall, I'm quite happy with the idea of the rebranding finally going to be implemented - after reading about it for almost a year.
Now, I'm not a native speaker and I can only speak for myself: DASH sounds just fine to me.
It has always been difficult for me talking to friends about cryptocurrencies in general. Bitcoin is still just some kind of weird internet money for most of them, used by geeks to buy illegal stuff. So I never even actually tried to talk about or explain Darkcoin - mostly  because of the name and the implications associated with it.

...snip...

All of these innovations and efforts could be summed up in just one simple value proposition: Make it more usable!
And in that case, "Darkcoin" simply isn't appropriate and doesn't appeal to a wider audience or userbase.

IMHO, it simply isn't the right name anymore to capture the spirit, believes and ideas of what Evan, all other devs, the foundation and community members are working on and trying to achieve.

Just my two duffs, though…
+1 Well put, and glad to have you aboard! Grin Grin Grin

okay

did more research and I'm in for DASH

I retract previous statements

BUT

this is getting a little to "busy"

K.I.S.S.

I like the Morse Code better

I think it was the white text making it look a little busy, so I changed it blue and changed the angles of the dashes a little because they weren't at the same angle as the larger letters after squashing the logo down. I also made the dashes a little taller. It would probably look better with the slogan underneath, but I'm done playing around for now. Here is an Inkscape SVG if anyone wants to take the ball and run with it: https://mega.co.nz/#!pYpwBA7K!NU9spvx44-TxdRaDUCtIJ5rDXWQ0UX4gT3n7n9o-JVk. Last effort:
