I'm a recent supporter of spreadcoin. I actually bought some after the dev went AWOL and the community started to gather together to take on the project. I also got some because the solo mining thing was effective against pools but was proved to be ineffective against private pools.

This is absolutely wrong, I run/ran a pool for SPR, the problem was/is that SPR was so ultra-cheap that noone invested the time to get "normal" pool software ported to SPR's special features. It is like adapting to a new algo.

The whole anti-pool thing is totally non-functioning in SPR and was always just a middle to feign some special feature and get "normal" people in to buy coins.

SPR is nothing but a 1:1 clone of an old darkcoin source with a few (!) mods making in incompatible with standard-stratum software...

However, master nodes are an untapped pit of opportunities and R&D in spreadcoin could identify one or two gems (got to use that word twice today

There is no need to regenerate new key. Just deposit fresh 1K, wait for 15 conf and do "masternode start". But if you really want to change masternodeprivkey you need to update it on both sides - local and remote.

Seems to be, trades are happening, haven't tried any DRK or other withdrawals as yet, but I expect that we'd've have heard if say the earlier allowed ones like NXT weren't going though OK

I did not try to lie. I only post my result of masternode count. Its now 2087.
To double check i did delete my peers.dat and did start the ./darkcoind again

If you call out for an delta between two numbers, make sure the two numbers are from the same source or you cant tell anything about a delta, because perhaps the numbers from different sources are messured diffferent!

So here again somone read about ~2300, and from another source about 2092, instead he bothers that the two sources could report false/different numbers, he just says hey the number is 200 mn lower.

That is like i go to my bank and change an euro for 1.10 dollar, then i go to an exchange on the airport where i get 1.05 dollar for an euro -> after i conclude, oh the dollar must have lost almost 5 % value in 5 mins. Does this sound like a useful conclusion? - i guess not!

i looked at the directions to set one up and i was just like holy god wtf is this shit. in my mind, i would send 1000 drk to a wallet and hit a button that says "masternode activation sequence begin" and then it would start to lottery coins every now and again.

A masternode is far more than just a wallet with a "masternode" check box and they've been designed to operate on proper data centre hosted kit. That typically means Linux via a VPS (Virtual Private Server) provided by one of the many VPS service providers.

I didn't know much at all about linux but was able to follow Tao's guide okay to set up my masternode. It takes a bit of focus and a preparedness to go through the steps. But what you'll be doing is adding to this incredibly robust and substantial Masternode network (i.e. not just the running of a wallet....these MNs do a lot of work now with Darksend and InstantX).
