lol, comparing the name to washing deterigent is as stupid as comparing Apple to the fruit. It's the product(s) and service(s) underneath the brand that actually matter.

Well, for English native speakers, "apple" the fruit and "Apple" the company might sound the same, but the washing detergent is called "Dash" globally. Also notice the capitalization: Dash the washing detergent and Dash the currency vs. apple the fruit and Apple the company

Apple is called Apple globally, what's your argument?

He means, I think, for example, Apple in french is "pomme" or in portuguese its "maça" ... not apple. I think, 'cos his second sentence makes no sense to me.

Dash will be infringing on a companies name that already exist globally... if you think they wont attack or come after you for using their name then you dont understand how business work and have another thing coming

No its not ! I speak a few languages and none, even in English, have I never heard that. Like "let me Google that " instead of "let me go on a search engine", never with Dash. I do believe somewhere it is, not doubting you.

But it really is funny how well it fits  Grin

 hahaha brilliant!!

But vertoe is ultimately right. Its a case of direction. Niche vs mass adoption. We can be DASH or something else and still have Darkcoin. Though right now I can't see how.

As I said before the brand Dash is like an empty container that we will fill with the ideals of the product, it is more flexible, so we can take it in the direction we choose too.

This is a good property of the name as it is not explicit like Darkcoin, in time Dash will acquire its own meaning, a meaning that better reflects the vision we are building.

At this point in time is hard to see that, precisely because it is a blank canvas it does not suggest any particular meaning, just like Google or Nike would not really be anything without the products and marketing behind them. There is no need to name a shoe company Darkshoe or Bitshoe, Adidas is just fine, brands reside in the mind of people and they need to be built, a name is not enough, we will do well with Dash.

It is a monosyllable and we can use the full name as the ticker: DASH

Dash is such a stupid fucking name..... prediction worse out come then sticking to darkcoin..Lets all face it nothings topping bitcoin there is to much money, man power, and developers behind it for some alt to ever top it..If you think some other alt is going to top bitcoin right now then you need to get your head out of the sand . Dark is a well established brand name and its absurd to jump ship when it has brought the coin so far and will continue to gain more attention... And to who ever referenced google and nike having no meaning behind it till they established, what a crappy point because they also didn't change names once they began getting brand recognition from a marketing stand point its absolutely idiotic Undecided

keeping the drk ticker symbol is important, call it anything on top but keep the darkcore under the bonnet. People wont even know what drk stands for anyway.

I agree that the Darkcoin name is not mainstream-compatible, but Dash really seems kind of eighties. Plus, it lends itself to all kinds of stupid wordplay (a dash of lemon, anyone?), and then there is this washing powder that was already mentioned..

So how's about D-Cash (with DC as a symbol)? It has the exact same meaning, but is less cryptic. Plus, as an added bonus, oldschoolers can still read the "D" as "Dark" :-)

Or they just went up in value Smiley

Gone retro chic already, could be a worth fortune like Andy Warhol, as no longer in production.

I'd really hope we are sticking to the D-names to allow keeping the existing coin logo and D logo for exposure purposes. No reason then those paintings can't already represent the new name if we're sticking to the existing logos and the likes.
