But at what price would Litecoin mining be so unprofitable that it might actually kill the coin?

i cant remember if i read it on the wallobserver-thread,
or if there was a segment on letstalkbitcoin,
(i think it was ltb ... )

about that topic but i cant remember the figures.

but what i didnt thought about:

-> price drops
-> mining becomes heavily unprofitable
-> miners pull out (massive)

-> -> the difficulty is so high that the rest of the network cant solve blocks "at all"
-> it takes month/weeks till the difficulty-adjustment happens

-> coin gets useless in the meantime (transactions take forever)
-> -> coin is dead.

// there where some examples. (coins)
// and they predicted LTC to die exactly that death.

///// i dont think that the BTC-price matters that much. its more about ltc´s own "value" than it is about the price of the "reserve currency" (btc)

yeah LTC is going down fast...
but it still has a 42K buy order at 00601 (LTC)

I think thats just people in the US still asleep who, when they were last awake, set their orders way below the current trading price. They're going to get a shock when they wake up.

The thing is, if you've been monitoring BTCe trollbox for the last year you'll know that there are loyal LTC afficionadoes who are convinced there's a huge pump coming like the one of November 2013. The problem with that is that back then, LTC was THE number 2 crypto in lots of ways. But now it doesn't have a lot going for it fundamentally and it hasn't had the traction that Bitcoin has had during the last year in terms of adoption, service infrastructure, PR etc.

So that pump may never come and many are starting to realise it. The price has now dropped below 2013's low point where the pump started and the dumping's only accelerating. Every small rise is just being used as a cushion for exits.

This is going to get very interesting.

The very long term moving averages are now turning negative. It would take a Warren Buffet LTC sugar daddy who wants to blow half his holdings to turn this around I think.

wow! This must be the best Anniversary Present for Darkcoin by the crypto-community! Cheesy

BTW:
the numbers of cmc are not correct at the moment.
the site compares numbers that are one week old (changing the feed back and forth, due to bitstamp i guess)

only the price is correct, the percentages are wrong.

If bitcoin goes down to 150$ range, there is no doubt that Litecoin will drop proportionally. But at what price would Litecoin mining be so unprofitable that it might actually kill the coin?

WHOW !
1st time ever !!

If Darkcoin price manages to reach 0.011 then in the coinmarket cap we will be #3 right below Litecoin (filtering non-mineables) but our price will be higher than LTC Cheesy  This price rise however has to happen naturally. I don't think a coordinated pump can be sustainable.

LTC has 35m supply. The sell side is actually relatively small compared to the total volume.

The issue is lack of buyers. Most of the coins are held in bags. If you are going to bag hold, might as well introduce master nodes and make those bags useful.

 Dont have access to my cold wallets today. Do we need to 'masternode start' for v.26 ?

No, I don't believe so. I just did the update on my VPS without needing to do a masternode restart in the wallet. Grep shows all working fine.
