I must say, this project is really going great IMO.

Every milestone has been planned and negotiated with such a balanced degree of pioneering spirit and realistic pragmatism that it's difficult to look back and see how anything could have been done differently - even with the benefit of hindsight.

Despite that, there have been enough mistakes and challenges along the way for the progress to be real and not delusional.

Major congratulations to all involved for getting it so far in such a competitive and technically precarious sector.

The biggest issue we are having is the fact that DRK is a one-man team. I know the team is bigger than just Evan, but Evan is the only person that brings actual skills to the table (no offense to the other team members). He is really fast and he works really hard and he is a genius, but in the end, it is still just 1 person. If you look at some other projects, you will notice that not only they have tech improvements, but they also have nice websites (DRK's is really ugly and amateurish), good communications (could be better with DRK), beautiful wallets, good infographics and road maps, marketing, etc. The size of the team is the biggest threat this project is facing, Evan simply can't do it all. I'm hoping this will be dealt with as DRK gets more exposure and popularity.

Hoping testing starts in November for instantx and it can get pushed out to mainnet prior to year end. That way we can start 2015 fresh and focus on adoption and marketing.

To sum up recent events of the past 24 hours:

1) Leak of possible merge between DRK & SDC, discussed by the community, Evan pulled the plugs. (cancelled)

2) Rumor of OKCoin.com adding DRK on their (FIAT) exchange.

3) DRK featured on FOX 26 news (6-nov-2014):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YQnYpc52ks

4) DRK discussed on Bloomberg TV (6-nov-2014):
http://www.businessweek.com/videos/2014-11-06/can-bitcoin-stocks-hold-up-against-the-feds

5) Evas testing first InstantX (INSTANT) transaction successfully in ~2 SECONDS:
I just got multiple masternodes to form consensus, lock inputs, literally took 2 seconds to lock the transaction in place... then I tried to spend the same inputs for a higher fee. Works!

2014-11-07 01:13:18 ERROR: CTxMemPool::acceptableInputs()::InstantX : invalid transaction, conflicts with existing transaction lock CTxIn(COutPoint(365de7e2831dc8b85c2c94fef5f2b98e86a95e301879c5b3460db69df757deb9, 0), scriptSig=3046022100e2ca0a35ab1373)

Quote and add in case I missed something, please bump!

6) Enforcement on! Stable base for masternode growth and instant transactions!

Isnt really good to hear that evan was planning something with sdc. Cant understand why to merge with public known scam devs.

https://ounce.me/blog/the-current-state-scum-of-alt-coin-development/
Tbh only XC came out of that really badly. The other guy representing SDC was just kind of listening to what the XC scammer guy had to say.

Its just really sad to see that some altcoin devs buy coins from each other for coordinated pump and dump. The usecases behind blockchain technology is mind breaking... But not for those people...

Are you an idiot?  When DRK had it's huge pump a while back, it was coordinated between 5 pump groups.  How do you think pumps work exactly?  Every coin that pumps has "pump group/s" behind it.

I am a big stakeholder in SDC but I hope SDC can reach Dark's prices so I can switch out 50/50 and hedge my bets.

The idea there should be only one anon coin is foolhardy IMO, having multiple options is good not only because it doubles the work that the powers that be have to do to try and track down users of the currency, but it is also a safe hedge in the cataclysmic event that somehow either coin ends up being compromised.

Tor attack:
http://www.wired.com/2014/11/operation-onymous-dark-web-arrests/

As you can see, I'm still here posting away  Grin

THE SHEER NUMBER OF TOR-HOSTED SITES AFFECTED BY THE TAKEDOWN RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT WHETHER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS MAY HAVE FOUND NEW VULNERABILITIES IN TOR’S WELL-TESTED ANONYMITY SHIELD.

Things that make you go hmmmm....

Quote from: clueless
Just how law enforcement agents were able to locate the Dark Web sites despite their use of the Tor anonymity software remains a looming mystery.

Wonder if the fact that the NSA funds TOR and run most of the exit nodes might have something to do with it? Wink

Who exactly is Ryno? What's his name, address, real world track record, where are his references? Sticking some code on github under a pseudonym and making big promises about shit that hasn't happened yet doesn't remotely cut it when you're dealing with something this big.

from his linkedin:

It is a dangerous thing to recommend someone who works for you, especially when you want to keep him working for you. Ryno is one of those people. You do NOT want to lose him.

Ryno is a very good developer who now run his own company, which is why he had from start no intention of being hired by someone else ^^

I wish the best for DRK, DRK and SDC may be the POW and POS pair of the top Anonymous coins  Smiley

I have had the chance to have live conversations with most of the members of the Darkcoin team and active supporters, including Evan, and I can tell you everybody involved with DRK has real integrity. Evan is as honest and transparent as they come I think this whole situation only favors DRK as it shows how poor these other projects are, very unprofessional and they didn't even know how to technically make a merger happen, they were just trying to copy another idea from DRK and even use Evan's design to make it happen they are a joke.  I still think that conceptually the idea was good just not right the people or the right time in crypto.

Having followed the events of the last few days very closely, but not able to follow the last six or seven hours, I find myself reading 11 pages before this will post. I usually try not to respond when I am so many pages behind, but I have to say, Monitor, (ed. Minotaur) this is what will ultimately make DRK useful even if it is never "profitable." (And yes, I have seen the prices  Smiley ) I commend Evan, both for the bravery of pursuing such a noble and risky adventure, and the humility of submitting to the community.

A major corner has been turned. It is time to grow up. Childhood rants need to give way to respectful debate, and school yard fights will give way to war. If we are to succeed, let us do so virtuously with humble gratitude; if we are to die, let us do so with honor.

Peace to you all,

Strix

This is monumental! That was a big Damocles sword over our heads and the foundation of proof of service. For me this is the best news weve gotten this year. Now we can focus on MN features the incentives are ready and can be counted on.

A BIG milestone was just toppled! Thank you for the many months of work you and the rest of the team put in to get this right.
At this moment, I am a very satisfied investor.

Just wondering.... When can I expect my MN IP address to be hidden?   DRK is attracting a ton of attention right now and I would feel a bunch safer if the world (NSA) wasn't looking at my MN IP address.   I don't want to end up on some watch list somewhere........

That's the goal of the multi-path routing system. It's on the list.
Yes the sooner we get this the better.
