Decentralize Everything
Why is it that every time there is positive news about DRK the Cryptsy DRk wallet is under maintenance?

Where's that beast Camosoul hiding these days ? I miss the hate, the cynicism and the intensity of his posts. I need my daily dose of australopithecus-like violence.

He just woke up (it is 9:13 am in the States) and is reading the Wired Magazine article, while sending his bitcoins to the exchnage to buy Darkcoin

I think it is safe to say nearly all (if not all) exchanges with actual volume have bots to some degree. Anytime you are seeing multiple micro orders, it most certainly is derived from bot activity. Sure, a person could manually enter and remove orders, but over the course of a day to try to manipulate price, not feasible.

what today it disappeared ?!
might just reboot or something !

but sure
we could totally boycott Exchanges into switching off Bots !
that could be an interesting experiment !!!

why not to use only the exchanges which are bot free?
bitfinex is one of them am I right? Wink

Sadly not: https://www.bitfinex.com/pages/api - you can bot away on Bitfinex all day long, although they might 'restrict' you to 60 hits/minute per bot IP.

I have been using bitfinex for a while now to buy my darks. Never experienced any issues but I will use them even more if they don't have any bots Smiley

p.s. US is just waking up now Wink Wired magazine news is gonna hit them and it is a weekday. I am expecting 0.0068 - 0.0075

I remember, the previous Wired magazine article, sent the price to the moon.

DASH is the future of crypto payments!
...but why not require pools to obtain compliance tokens from Masternodes first that are required for a block to be accepted?
+100 I like idea of token very much

DRK 2.0 with clearinghouse is radical. with InstantTX as well - you could run anonymous corporations, anonymous poker, anonymous whatever asset you like. Link them up to OpenBazaar and you change the definitions of e-commerce. Proof of Service becomes proof that MN holders are billionaires in the making.
+1000 I like the idea of it much more Wink but this needs more time to achieve.

I'm thinking price is being manipulated down so we can achive 2000 - 3000 masternodes then that will take 3 million coins of  the market then boom. Only my thoughts tho.  Huh

whow
now that is a conspiracy !!!

Can the community, especially whales and coin developers ask the exchanges not use/allow bots? Obviously exchanges have interest in running pots but if the community makes demands and threaten to leave exchnage if they allow bots then we might be able to change something.

edit: Not sure if it is a coincident but after Wired Magazine article, the Darkcoin bot on Cryptsy 'disappeared' Wink

is it possible to burn drk for drk 2.0 to get rid of old clients and start fresh?

its not a real proposal, just wondering if its technically possible.

Each protocol bump should kick everything else off the network, and thus be a fresh start.

This enforcement thing has been holding back development since May. The current mining architecture just isn't a good fit for what Darkcoin is trying to achieve.

I have proposed making mining via Masternodes mandatory many times, and just get called a 'Nazi' and a 'retarded fucking Jew' (by the same people... Roll Eyes) - the nearest I've had to a sensible argument against it is that pools need beefier hardware than Masternodes, but why not require pools to obtain compliance tokens from Masternodes first that are required for a block to be accepted?

There are lots of ways it could be done but nobody seems interested.

I am more and more coming to believe that PoW is a dead end. Centralised pools do not secure the network, they are a security liability. Nobody wants to talk about it. Mining costs do not translate into coin value. Nobody wants to admit it. For the last six months PoW has just held back development, it has done nothing whatsoever to add value.

Shifting block reward in favour of Proof of Service is a good move, but the timeframe is too long and it's meaningless if PoW can still fuck things up.

PoW has been a spanner in the works for half a year now, my fear is that it is also going to make InstanTX unworkable as well

Here you go again.  Get over it, PoW is here to stay, better get used to it.

Oh, I'm getting used to it, we're all getting very used to it. Round peg + square hole = does not work. As has been shown. Repeatedly. For the last 6 months.  Kiss

Let's juts totally get rid of rhe miners then. We will have a revolution and will be big or we will die. The price is dropping since may anyway. One way or another. Radical change!

Fucking hell, we should have that already. Poker rooms, casinos, email services,  messaging, forums,  all decentralized based on our masternode infrastructure, which is out there waiting to be used.
Instead of that we are begging fucking pools to update and cooperate, strugling and forking since fucking May!
Evan should spend that time coding the good stuff, not fighting bad actors. Ridiculous.
Masternode infrastructure possibilities are endless. We should be at $50 by now.
I was against it before but admit I was wrong.  Let's fucking go for it.

Small and big owners keep dumping

The price keep on dropping, what's the deal?

Whats the reason for Bots to keep pushing down price ? , yes they can get more MN if they want
but there is the risk of more and more people getting disinterest in DRK , then what , they are stuck with MN that keeps getting less valuable ?
They are creating a small group of People with a lot of MN ? , Mining is ( and will not ) be interesting anymore , end of game.
Believe it is not smart to keep pushing down but there must probably be a reason why it is interesting for them.

this is happening on a lot of markets. bots are constantly pulling down prices.

Twitter is blowing up on this WIRED darkcoin article. Amazing PR for darkcoin. Expecting this to create upward price pressure.

a WIRED article about darkcoin!!!

http://www.wired.com/2014/11/darkcoin-and-online-drug-dealers/

Quote
The underlying demand for more financial anonymity means darkcoin may soon be adopted by more of the dozens of small marketplaces that now compete in the crypto-economy, says cryptocurrency consultant and privacy advocate Kristov Atlas, who recently performed an audit of darkcoin.

Who the hell are all these people tweeting the article link? It's kind of on fire right now on twitter!

Edit: about 70 tweets in the last 20 minutes. This seems big.
