For example, if a fan uses the "Brand Name" twitter feed for posting their own opinions etc...then of course it could damage the integrity of the brand. I had to unfollow darkcoin on twitter because it sounded like a p&d account.

Aren't you mistaking philosophy with promotion?
I think since the start darkcoins philosophy has been lightyears ahead of all the other coins.
It singlehandedly started the whole anonymous coin movement, and it remains the flag ship of cryptocurrencies that is sailing far out in uncharted waters.


Being subversive IS the only way to start building a new society. (sure ain't going to get there by complying with arbitrary government rules)
Bitcoin is not mainstream, it started everything.
Remember that the transparency of bitcoin (while bad for a currency) is extremely valuable for all kinds of other things: contracts, claims, etc.. (it's the blockchain, bitchez!)
this alone will start many additional revolutions (not just regarding money)

When has fan art ever hurt music or movies or books, etc?

I think that the problem is that people are heavily invested in darkcoin and expect a return on investment sooner than later, and so they get quite snippy and overreactive all the time (cue camosoul)


The percieved speed of development in crypto comes mainly from this giant "cambrian explosion" like outgrowth coming from all the latecomers, opportunists and scammers... who want a piece of the cake.
..but remember that bitcoin just silently, patiently sits there, and hasn't even gone out of beta phase yet. It's still Version 0.9.3 !
If you want to gauge the speed of crypto world, don't look at the altcoins, look at bitcoin!

And people will slowly start doing all that when the time is ripe.

Will every masternode get payment every %masternode_count% blocks? What does it mean "Each masternode can expect a payment every N blocks with a variance of about 10%." from announce? What is 10%?

There are people here that know what it takes to do it right so lets get it done right.

Georgem we have to tell the story, clearly and concisely. Just like when you write a resume or CV and apply for a job, you have to present credentials and attributes that will give the potential employer confidence you're going to be solid and deliver on the expectations being set. We already have a story on each of those attributes I've listed:

Trust: Darkcoin has an experienced and real-world identified dev with a very strong financial background. He has consistently delivered for the project;
Certainty: The project has reached many milestones, it is stable with a strong community that is very supportive and committed;
Backing: Many serious people are associated, again all real-world identified, the Foundation has structure, process and governance;
Credibility: The system works and has been verified by an external crypto expert. The masternode network with approx 1000 servers around the world is architecturally advanced, robust and economically well structured to lessen volatility;
Efficiency: Transactions are secure and confirmed by a healthy robust network, InstantX provides rapid confirmation as efficient as proprietary closed-source traditional credit card networks (but with a tiny fraction of the transaction costs);
Security: Vulnerabilities are addressed within hours, users identities are protected, the system is very secure;
Anonymity: Darksend guarantees transactions are untraceable; no real-world user identity metadata is needed to use Darkcoin;

It's all very well to talk about "darkcoin manages to really evolve into a true ecash" but without a solid marketing we'll never get there. You can't expect it to succeed through a "build it and they will come" process, nor will it get there if there are many hundreds of cottage industry style marketing attempts going on with hundreds of slants on what it is and what it does.

We need a core message and core positioning statement of what it's for, how it's supported and why people can trust in it. And we need that first....THEN we'll get more adoption...then it will be seen as "ecash for the Internet".

Solid messaging....increased interest....adoption....understanding of value.....ecash for the Internet.....Market cap dramatically increases.

It emphasizes what I wrote several days ago: The only problem I see with the Darkcoin at this moment in time is a lack of direction in its philosophy. Is it going to be a subversive element, a part of the shadow economy (20% of the world's economy is the shadow economy) or a tool for us to start building a new society free of oppression and tyranny or is it going to strive to become a mainstream coin in the vein of Bitcoin? Options are many but our plans, our direction, our philosophy are not. Thusly, we do not generate enough enthusiasm in the wider community of crypto enthusiasts; what is left seems to be only a bunch of nerds getting it and having some fun doing it, but no many others.

I still believe that #getintothedark & The Darkcoin Chameleon were (are) a nonsense that hurt because it had been perceived as not serious, while semi-official representative of the Darkcoin community, and as such is a spitting image of the key problem, outlined above in the red.

I don't believe we can wait for three years as that last article suggests, given the speed of development crypto world is witnessing. I wrote several suggestions on Darkcoin talk that I hope would not hurt to be repeated, in order to help this discusssion:

Visibility is everything, so say:

    - TanteStefana and / or David (a new writer) start from the start (articles about Darkcoin origins, DarkSend, "How to... " buy / trade / invest;
    - fernando or someone good with this creates a simple animation video, explaining the same in a more visual way;
    - another video, more sophisticated may be in place as well;

    - SYNDICATE all content (Twitter, FB, blog) and use all RSS feeds. Point in case, Review Outlaw has a video on mining Darkcoin here:

We're all enslaved by The Financial Crime Cartel and its shenanigans (crimes) and this could be the first real movement in human history that would liberate us from the institutionalized chains of death, destruction and debt, their modus operanda.

WEEKLY Q&A with Evan (and Ape and some other developer) - perhaps as a LIVE CHAT was the best idea thus far - sorry, but for a life in me at the moment I can't recall whose idea it was - so that could be an hour or so live transmissions with the community, investors, journalists, bloggers etc, participating (or just a host, one of the guys here, or from the Foundation) that would boost both the visibility and interest.

Bottom line. Spread the word as much as you can. And try to also focus on "influencers" like Max, David, Reggie...

And again, what Darkcoin wants to be, that is the question. What we want the Darkcoin to be?

All I am saying is: GO FOR IT!

I welcome every darkcoin video, no matter how it tries to look like.

I think the big difference is, that the video you are thinking about will cost quite some money, and will probably have to be funded by the community.
This needs careful consideration and must be well timed. (also, people might get pissed when it doesn't turn out the way they imagined)

At this point in time, I just look at all the fans who put their own time and money into creating their own darkcoin stuff.
Cheaper and more effective. It basically "can't go wrong" no matter how you put it.

Did you watch the videos I posted? I dont think there will be a single person here that doesnt like them and would love to see something in a similar vein for Darkcoin...that is what we should be aiming for. When I say aim, its fairly easily done when you go to a professional. We just need to get the bullet points fleshed out.

because the tool (that can be used for all that) will now actually EXIST and will be used.

Or we can just try to build an overblown image now that our software tries forever to chase after.
Especially strong words like "Certainty" and "Efficiency" can't just be claimed... you have to earn them.

Darkcoin isn't even 1 year old!
