I am not talking about any other coin since I don't trust any other coin but Bitcoin. I also did not say anything about anonymous transactions. Please don't tell me you invested into this coin because you ONLY want to have anonymous transactions becuase most of us here to make money. Ok my issue is here; if this coin ever gets big how do you think whales would come if we don't have the volume for them to come? & lets assume a whale came and bought 300,000 Darkcoin's and price shoots up to $20 "I assume people won't sell to get easy profits" or else it would be more like $15. So now we have even another problem more coins locked up and price will keep going down if this whale decides to add more MN's.

another problem how do you expect normal people who have no computer skills to take the trouble and make their own MN "Yes people would have problems setting up MN's".

Did I do something wrong with my calculations or assumptions?

Please don't ignore me it's in bold now

So you are assuming normal people also don't use cash because they are not "whales" (own 300.000 $, €, gold, whathever to play with) and they lack skills to have their own ATM (?) or something like that?

 Roll Eyes
The problem here is the word "normal." These are people who have down-averaged their IQ positions badly, and want to not call themselves stupid, so they say "normal" instead where they should be saying "stupid as fuck." The extreme degree of lazy, stupid, and entitled that has the fucking audacity to refer to itself as "normal people" is disgusting.

If that really is what normal has become, normal is fucked.

Okay so I've tried Bitfinex...meh Undecided
Don't really like design/layout of site. Why do people not like cryptsy?

I hate Bitfinex, the layout is horrid.

Maybe someone has already done a custom UI for it, their API is public right?

EDIT: This seems to be something of that nature, doesn't have DRK support, but it should probably be easy enough for him to add.

My only gamble is in DRK itself...
Why gamble a sure thing on a maybe? Doesn't really make sense to gamble with DRK...

my guess we have about 1100 MN by the end of october.

Is it just a guess or did you extrapolate the current curve of the master nodes count over time ?

By the way, is this graph available somewhere ? Thanks.

Yes, but in my browser it says "filter un-mineable fractional reserve shitcoins"   Grin

I don't think any of them are "fractional reserve".

I actually like POS. Think it's a great algo. I realise it's not to popular around here but I think markets are just as good a mechanism for distribution as POW is. In some cases (such as Bitcoin) better.

You should probably define "markets" better. What is your proposal for initial distribution? I do not think it can be "just as good" as POW, simply because there's essentially no new supply after initial distribution that *needs* a home; it already has a home.

To be fair, there are some darn well distributed (by current standards) POS-type coins. BTSX is one example, however that distribution was based on 4-ish months of POW as well as 2 months of crowd funding, if you will. NEM seems to have done OK as well, though it's not actually released yet.

Some others, like NXT, have atrocious distributions, or at least did initially.

For anyone who's interested, a sneak peak at the next release of Darkcoin:

TLDR:

- Next release will go out in the next two days probably, I'm going with the community and calling it "The Onyx Release"
- It features mandatory, non-exploitable Masternode payments.
- Masternode payments are completely predictable now. I.e., if there's 2000 masternodes you can expect 1 payment every 4 days (divide the amount of nodes by the blocks per day to get your ROI).
- Masternode payments will go to 25% one week from release (non-manditory)
- Afterwards I encourage the community to find the pools still paying 20% and contact them to make sure they update their stratum before it's too late
- Masternode payments beyond that will increase to 30% in November, 35% in December and continue on until we get at least 3000 masternodes.
- Huge security updates to Darksend. It's much more robust and can take a beating.

It's a true proof-of-service setup now. Each new node has a 1 in N (total number of masternodes) chance of receiving a payment each block. After a payment, they must wait N blocks to receive another one (give or take 10%). There's no room for gaming the system because it's using math based off of the proof-of-work to prove the node won, plus you'd have to wait 15 confirmations each time you moved money around and that takes from your profit too.

Will enforcement be turned on for future increase in block reward? or will this be goodwill based? this is not really clear to me cuz of the 'non-mandatory'

Great work otherwise

Greetz

With the new system reward increases and payee are enforced.

Is there a reason to aim for 3k Masternodes?

Any future plan that requires as many, or just decentralized objective?

security !

3000 mn >> faster instantX transaction time (my guess)

* Way more expensive to attack Darksend
* Capacity of InstantX and Darksend will be much higher
* Blockchain syncing, propagating and all other normal network functions will get quicker and have higher capacity
* DDOS the network is much harder (3000 vs 900 nodes to attack)

DRK to trade and use will become rare and what is rare is .... EXPENSIVE !
Rare and prohibited is even more expensive. Wink

Haha, one major country 'banning' DRK would make every MN op a millionnaire overnight.

to be honest, ripple was on my mind when i wrote that.

Right - I don't know much about Ripple but I've noticed it seems to be quite controversial on Bitcoin forums.

3k Masternodes needs 3k X 1,000 (3,000,000) DRK to run.

As it exists 4,700,000 DRK, it means 64% of the total supply of coins will be blocked in the master nodes.

DRK to trade and use will become rare and what is rare is .... EXPENSIVE !

If that happens, dude, prepare for a damn rise in the DRK price...  Grin

Moon, baby, moon !  Cool

Darkcoin is 11.40% up and continues

Ah ! Now I see how you're getting number 5.

You've got "Filter non-mineable" switched on.

"Filter non-mineable and pre-mined" gets rid of even more garbage.
