A peg leg full of booze just wouldn't cut it. I'd need a 30mm cannon or a flame thrower or something... Then a look of contempt grew over my face. Not for my leg, but for myself; knowing that I was too much of a pussy to cut it off right now and fix this pathetic single-use bi-pedal ambulatory schism that genetics had been foolish enough with which to curse me... Fuckin' leg, all it's good for is walking around... Stupid thing... If I weren't such a sissy, I'd replace it with a 30mm cannon... Forced to cut it off? I don't deserve to call myself a man, sitting here, not cutting it off voluntarily... Damn I suck.

So 3 peers is a better solution but if there are still more improvements to come, by all means.
I wasn't suggesting a rest-on-laurels approach. A pro-active fix is better than waiting for it to happen, agreed, no argument.

The attack vectors mentioned were all theoretical and would require a considerable amount of laboratory-level control to even prove possible.It's theoretical until someone actually performs it. Consider the following scenario: A competitor coin just runs 3-4 clients of Darkcoin to "provide" a lot of mixing peers for various denominations, over the duration of a single day. They pay their transaction costs and all, and by the end of the day they mapped 70-80-90% of mixings for a cost of X DRKs through a customized script that creates "maps", similar to those on KA's paper.
They then go out and issue a whitepaper about how they mapped DRK's transactions for a single day with a cost of X DRKs / Y USDs and how a far more capable adversary that would be willing to pay the costs for 24/7/365 monitoring through fake mixing peers, could Sybil-monitor the transactions.
So 3 peers is a better solution but if there are still more improvements to come, by all means.
