glad the focus is away from darktor/masternet etc, that would be just so far away in the future, devote as much time as possible to the core function, which is the best privacy a cryptocoin could provide.

There has been overwhelming support from the community about going with #2! So I think that is probably the direction we are taking. But chime in and give your opinion here:

The nr 1 point is exactly what i was very worried about in my post a few pages back:
Darknet is not a feature we need for Darkcoin,developers are doing the wrong thing,they should work more on the coin instead of creating a better Tor.
Darknet will only hurt us more then it would help,scammers that can hide on it,child porn,gun sellers,drug sellers etc,it's going to stain te legit coin in a very bad way!!
they should brand Darkcoin as a private coin like paying in cash,bitcoin in 2014 is moving away out of this negative things and then the developers are putting Darcoin in it's place,not good.
i dont want my Darkcoins to get a bad name but it will,the big public will only speak of the coin criminals use,how is that going to help us?
Criminals use the coin for doing criminal transactions you put yourself at risk when owning a masternode or even use the coin,i dont want the NSA or any goverment take this coin down or investor dont invest because they get stained with the stamp CRIMINAL on it.
I think Darkcoin is a great coin that keeps your spending private like cash does,but in these days when regulation is forming that will help crypto currency it's a very big risk of damaging this coin when you facilitate all the bad things the regulators dont want.
The regulation is needed so bussines can be run in the same legal matter as normal company's so big money investors will know there money is safe and can not be stolen and also consumers know they cant be ripped off.
The crypto industry can not grow large like we all want if no one can be put to court when stealing like what happend @ MTgox.
I am very sceptic about darknet in a way it's to close linked to Darkcoin now,they should finish RC5,help merchants adapoting it,do the marketing,Darknet should be a new bussines not related Darkcoin,get it's own brand,website and marketing.

Option 2 is the way to go if I had to choose. Focus on making darkcoin as anonymous and as good as possible so it can compete with other coins and getting darkcoin to be accepted by others/businesses etc. Total focus on the coin and anonimity.

DRK is number 1 volume on Mintpal.
Nearly 3 times the volume of its nearest competitor with almost 100 BTC.
Remember when we surpassed volume of LTC and were at 50-60% of Bitcoin? Those were great times for trading.

If anyone wants any DRK, better pick it up now (of the crumbs that are available that is) cos it aint' going any lower ever never. Nor are there likely to be many sellers from now on cos the coin's just had a right shake-out during the last few weeks of dumping. It has a whole different distribution that what it did during the pump & dump phase.

This coin will offer something Litecoin does not and it realy IS the number 2 coin for now,i realy think you should focus on number 2 of your post,get the word out this coin is incredible and needs real world use,help merchants adopting it,market the coin you can pay in private like cash does,make profesionel video's on Youtube(make own channel) showing how the coin works ,make a manual,do marketing etc,introduce your team and what this coin realy makes it so special compared to Bitcoin,make people excited about this coin so they want it!
Dont put it too much at risk,regulation of crypto is in the works and just be safe,if this coin gets a bad reputation all your hard work will be for nothing!

Development has been going great and the last few things must be done on testnet.
RC5 includes these items so far:
- Darksend queue improvements : Matching should be much faster and more accurate
- Progress indication on creating a new wallet, shows up on the splash screen
- CLI help has been updated to show new commands
- Masternode payments reverted back to RC3 version (I'll do enforcement later after opensourcing)
- Collateral turned back on
- Darksend simple configuration screen on startup
- Darksend transaction filters
- When sending to yourself, n/a appeared instead of the address
- Large wallets wouldn't begin darksending
- New overview for Darksend info

So the guy who sold celeb photos for bitcoin, he should really have used darkcoin...
Why? Bitcoin is as secure as Darkcoin, if he wanted real anonymity he would have used Monero.
I can't imagine someone with your amount of history would be so ill informed? Darkcoin is quite anonymous. Have you even read how it works? It's my own implementation of coinjoin that is much more anonymous than anything offered on the bitcoin network, plus it's not vulnerable to any of the coinjoin attacks (coinjoin sudoku). It's decentralized, secure, timing-attack resistant and it works on mainnet, right now.
I'm going to just guess that you haven't actually done any reading about Darksend and show you how it works:

Here's an example transaction:

So the gist is if you put 550DRK into the pool, it'll be broken down into 100DRK*5, 10DRK*5 and paired with the same denominations from another user. So after that transaction, no one can tell who is paying for what.
It's also very low bloat compared to monero /bytecoin because it only happens when it's needed. The whole blockchain is 346MB right now. Monero is not even close to as old and already is many times that size.
Isn't the issue here that Dark is an active coin? What I mean is that the user has to actively want to mix their coins and this can create a low anonymity set. (hence the small blockchain)
As I understand it, the Monero chain is larger because every single payment is passively anonymous. (There are exceptions right now due to 0 mixin, but this will be removed soon)
The strength of the anonymity set in Monero is so grand that it makes no sense to use something inferior if you actually need an anonymous currency.

Of course it is. It's of very importance for the Developer to keep interacting with the community from time to time.Many people here are either: a) misinformed; 2) ignorant.
Stating that Darkcoin is either: 1) not anonymous; 2) not anonymous enough due to CoinJoin is just wrong.

Ok, I think I've got an explanation. But mind that I'm not an Economist, so It's the layman's understanding.
I guess you are referring to DRK volume in exchanges. I didn't even bother to go there check your allegation, but I can quite understand this hypothetical situation when I think about my behaviour towards Darkcoin:
What I mean is that I am one to be blamed for the lack of DRK volume in exchanges. This is so just because ALL the darkcoins I have managed to buy or mine are safe in my wallets/MasterNode, and I have got no intention to send them to any exchange (obviously because I have got no intention to sell any of it).
But I am not the worst devil for causing this lack ov DRK volume in exchanges, because I do try to stimulate some more volume there, by regularly sending all the BTCs I can manage to get, in order to try to BUY more and more DRK... But, unfortunatelly, it seems that most of the Darkcoin holders nowadays are not willing to sell me enough of their DRKs (so I guess that they are also contributing to make this low volume you talk about).
TLDR:If the volume is low IN EXCHANGES is because the Darkcoin holders love their DRKs so much that they don't want to exchange it at all...

That's just a ridiculous statement. Because a shitcoin gets pumped does not mean drk is dying.
