Wow, I'm not happy at all.
libdb changes have destroyed all of my wallet.dat files. I have no DRK.
Ran into the issue before. Use -salvagewallet Should repair it. Then tranfer all to new wallet.
Make sure your using libdb 4.8
--salvagewallet fails and creates a wallet.[timestamp].bak file.
apt seems to think I have no berkley libdb installed at all... Other wallet.dat files work fine...
I can't deal with this shit now. Nothing but bad news all week. It's actually LESS of a problem to write DRK off as a loss than deal with this right now. There's no reason for it.
dpkg -l "libdb" then purge them.
I'm way too stressed out before this happened. I don't trust myself. About zero brain function. Fuck it.
Don't play with money when stressed or tired, just leave it alone and come back later.
All DRKs lost. No hope of recovery.
Are you serious? Don't you literally have thousands of coins, and you don't have a backup or the keys printed out? I can't believe that.
The backups were destroyed, too. It's fucking unbelievable. It's like wallet.dat files were targeted on a drive that wasn't even powered up. External USB drive, encrypted. Everything on it is intact, except the backups of my wallet.dat files.
HOW CAN SOMETHING DESTROY MY wallet.dat if its on PAPER/CD/DVD/USBdrive/ONLINE/OFFLINE...etc
Aliens? lol camo what are you doing?
As things become more clear...
I was dealing with multiple problems that appeared to be related but were not.
The original file that was mysteriously corrupted for no reason was discovered as I was checking the veracity of my backups. Of which I had 2. One on a magnetic drive, and another on a micro SD. I discovered the backups were corrupted. So, I went to the original. It was corrupted. I made backups of a file that was no good in the first place.
But, as this was happening, I started getting random failures of the client to open ANY of the backups and ANY of the originals. This came and went for no discernible reason while the contents of the rest of the drive was intact. Even on other machines.
I was able to get the coming-and-going files to load one at a time and sent the DRK to Mintpal. I have no fucking idea why.
The original corrupted file is still corrupted. I wiped the drive of the laptop and tried a fresh install of xubuntu, and pumped through the various libdb versions to no avail. Ran extundelete on the original source drive, found a bunch of stuff, but not the key I needed. Somehow the file became corrupt between it's creation, and the very first time I made a backup copy. extundelete at least showed me several iterations of it from my attempts to recover from the backups, but the very first original was gone before I even realized I should be looking for it.
If the funds are to be recovered, it'll have to come out of the file Propulsion has. I'm not holding my breath. If he cracks it, I'm not even sure I want it back... I'm so disgusted about it I'm willing to let it go. I offered to post it publicly to see if anyone could recover it and keep it for themselves, but then people started trolling about a virus so they ruined that one.
