I don't think the market realises that Drk has functional anonymity now.

I will wait for RC5 or better RC6, before I use Darksend, just to be on the safe side.

Functional anonymity is not enough... I want highly proficient anonymity.
Darkcoin will be there soon. It's an evolution.

I want this baby jesus to save the world, not just "be functional"...
Cheesy  The pathway is clear. But your caution is also wise.

It had functional anonymity before RC4 and RC3. RC4 is implementation of DS+ improving the set.

RC4 needs to be regression utilized, all scenarios vetted in mainnet, any and all bugs squashed over the next few days. 10s of people put 100s of hours in testnet, so it is upto users to get it going now on mainnet.

I know Evan will never confess to it in the open, but the sneaky release was needed to not give pump and dumpers any chance to manipulate which they did with announcements for RC3 and all other wannabe anon coins.

You will see the buys coming in slowly over the next few days though with media hype, KA's code review and what not. But then again whales may also sneak in anytime they want. You never know what and how they play games.

make a backup of your wallet.dat

delete everything in the folder where it was

run latest qt

wait for new chain

close client when new chain full

move backup wallet over the one that the qt just created

launch qt with --salvagewallet option

just doing the --salvagewallet option won't do it. It's probably something in chainstate that needs killed, but it's easier to just wipe the whole folder and MAKE SURE YOUR BACKUP IS NOT IN THERE WHEN YOU WIPE IT!

This fixed my issue as well. Thanks again.

It's started denominating just fine for me, now......... Leaving out the part where I shut it off and it did it anyway...

If Propulsion can't take care of it, send me the physical drive Wink No such thing as non-recoverable and no I don't work for NSA.
It's a multi-sipher encrypted 4TB drive... And my password is nearly impossible to type even when you know what it is... But I'm willing to give it a try if you really want to dedicate the time.

It's a lot like when my TDI was killed by an incompetent mechanic... I felt the loss, but the whole world was a sadder place for that badass work of art under the hood being gone... 3500DRK lost makes the world shitty.

My TDI was murdered almost 3 months ago now... I'm not even close to getting over it. That thing brought the pain to more ferraris and lamborghins than I can remember... Damn shame.

The cult of Evan feels even more so... We have so many denominations it's like picking a church... :-p

I guess there's new hope in RC5?  Grin

Eternally keeping you guessing and hoping, that's also similar to a cult/religion.

jk, I am just happy to have plain DRK at the moment, I don't dare running them thru darksend yet, maybe in 2015, when RC12 has resolved all the problems of mankind.

something happens to your wallet.dat backups.
Yeah, this...

Or the original gets corrupted for no reason and you get a backup of a corrupted original before you even get a chance <-- me.
Check the HDD. Smiley
I took Evans info on inode versioning, etc... Problem being I had restored the backup to the ~/.darkcoin folder before I realized what had happened, so when I pulled the extundelete, it found me a whole bunch more corrupted files, but the original was hopelessly lost. The corrupted file is in Propulsion's hands now... Either there's blood in that turnip, or there's not.

Edit: And stay away from Ubuntu 14.04.  I stick with 12.04 and 12.10. Libdb is a known problem.

It seems like these scares almost always get resolved. The only way to really lose coins is if you send them to the wrong place or something happens to your wallet.dat backups.

This bag saved by the glorious and magnificent tifozi

The other half is in Propulsion's hands, and is a whole different ball of wax.
How?
Hop on IRC Freenode #darkcoin I've made a mess of the thread enough as it is.

Great news man congratulations!

So long as there is no forking (which there isn't) you are right that coins can be lost. Evan did say something about not selecting "no preference" when sending....

Wow, he said that? Maybe next time he should post that on the wallet download page so people don't lose a grand like I may have.

I think JGCMiner meant to say "So long as there is no forking (which there isn't) you are right that coins CAN'T be lost" to be in agreeance. JGC, am I correct?

Yes, I meant to say "no preference" can cause problems, but not coins cannot be lost.  Camo has already gotten his back so that is proof.

Yes but can't he told us what he (or Tifozi) did?
Someone with the same problem is waiting the answer..

I edited my post. Seems they went to IRC, but I agree the solution should be posted here as well.
