So long as there is no forking (which there isn't) you are right that coins can be lost. Evan did say something about not selecting "no preference" when sending....

Wow, he said that? Maybe next time he should post that on the wallet download page so people don't lose a grand like I may have.

I think JGCMiner meant to say "So long as there is no forking (which there isn't) you are right that coins CAN'T be lost" to be in agreeance. JGC, am I correct?

Yes, I meant to say "no preference" can cause problems, but not coins cannot be lost.  Camo has already gotten his back so that is proof.

Also, it would be nice to see the solution and correct usage behavior post here so that in the future we can warn future users about how to avoid this issue.

Maybe. There are no denominate/change addresses for them tho... Where'd they go? Can't come back, no addresses.

Coins can't be lost in a transaction... it's either in your side, or MPs side. If they haven't gone through the blockchain to MP, then they are at your side but the wallet acts like it sent them (while it actually has the money).

A double spend is a possibility.

A possibility that doubles the number of coins, not evaporates them.

True.  Embarrassed

Seems like an issue with the wallet as the transaction time is off.  So long as there is no forking (which there isn't) you are right that coins can be lost. Evan did say something about not selecting "no preference" when sending....

“No Preference”
This mode is available to users, but they should be aware that in certain circumstances it has the potential to unmask both their current and prior transactions, no matter how old the prior transactions, even if the prior transactions were made with anonymous funds. We strongly urge users to avoid using the “No Preference” option unless they have a very specific reason to do so and know exactly what they are doing. This option can also interrupt the darksend process by sending funds that are currently not finished anonymizing.

It's in the announcement here: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc4-launch.2033/

But the "don't use it" admonition relates to losing anonymity, not losing coins.

They can't loose coin if the Tx it's not on the BlockChain : impossible.

For both of you, why is the timestamp in the wallet off?  The most recent transaction is BEFORE the second most recent.
Yeah! I know! Retroactively, I say!

Hey guys,

Ok so the Tx it's not in the blockchain, but only on the client.
Some client got resendtx (or something like that)  but I don't find it in darkcoind but I found this :

erasetransaction

Help :
erasetransaction
Remove transaction from wallet.

Maybe can try this, but at your own risks as I never tested it.

Hope this can help, and should put back the DRK in wallet balance.

EDIT : oups didn't saw that OzieCoin has said exactly the same as me (own risk etc..) lol

Edit 2 : if it's not on the blockchain you didn't loose them.
There is another command I don't remember ( I had the same thing long ago with another shitConne) I have to search in my history.

Edit 3: found it but didn't exist in darkcoind : was repairwallet.

TX never made it to the blockchain, but my client says it's deducted...

This is not my day.
How long ago?
About an hour 40 minutes now...
Jesus you're having a bad day. I'm sorry man... I've had transactions take an hour before as they didn't get picked up for some reason. Hopefully that's all it is.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of today. Soo thumbs down...

Would being over 7000DRK make a difference for a TX not being picked up by a block?
Did you send from un-anonymized funds? I don't think the amount really makes a difference.
I have darksend turned off and selected from any available.
Well damn. So it's definitely not an issue with darksend. It would be like sending any other standard coin, not sure why it would be held up for so long and not appear on the chain.

Sin242 might be right, you might have memory issues. Do you get any BSODs ? I had memory issues in my last desktop build and I would be working in photoshop and would get random restarts and BSODs with seemingly random errors. I ran a memory test and found out 1 of my sticks was bad. Causes all sorts of strange issues, and varying types of BSODs.
Aside from these fuckups, the machine is rock solid. No BSODs, it's not Winblows... I'm having no problems with anything else. Uptime is several days...
Hmm ok, usually if you have memory issues you'll notice it from time to time. So if all is good, I'm not sure.
If it weren't happening to me, I wouldn't believe it.

It's very possible that linux is more resiliant than windows for small memory errors.  I don't use it extensively enough to say for sure but i do know that windows will topple if the wind
blows funny.  If it's possible (and if you haven't done so already) i would migrate to a temp system.  If that's not possible i'd suggest firing up memtest.  Mr. Occam and all that.

You may have accidentally double spent. You can do erase transaction command.

erasetransaction

Warning: use at your own risk. I have not tried this myself.

This is normal?

What I see is a couple "Payments to Self", which means the client was either splitting up large inputs or creating fee sized inputs, then a bunch of denomination transactions. It looks like the payments yourself got stuck, those will have whatever minimum fee you set or whatever the client thought was needed. If you don't have a minfee set and your client thought it'd pay 0.00000DRK, then you'll have to wait for a really nice miner to include them in a block for free. However, after that the other transactions (Denominations) will go really quick, because they pay miners really well.

I did see this in my research here. Maybe it has something to do with that. My default fee was set to 0 (since that IS the default) so maybe those were just coins that were sent normally, with no transfer fee. Even though I paid 0.007 DRK, it prompted me asking if that was okay like normal.

I have no idea. I fired it up and sent.

Did you send anonymous funds or normal funds or a mix?

I believe I selected no preference.
