I think most likely, it will top out at around 1000 MNs is my guess.

374 = 56% p.a.
500 = 42% p.a.
750 = 28% p.a.
1000 = 21% p.a.
1500 = 14% p.a.
2000 = 10.5% p.a.

At each point where new MNs are created, available coin supply will dry up. At 4000 MNs, representing over 90% of current coin supply, darkcoins would be rare as hen's teeth.  And you would still get a 5% ROI in Darks.

Guys,

A bit OT. What would be the best graphics card to mine DRK coin? There is a huge debate on Nvidia beating the Shit out of AMD recently. I was seriously thinking of getting an AMD, but now i am having second thoughts. In your opinion what would be the best graphics card to mine DRK (an indication of the hash rates would be the icing on the cake)? I am on a bit of a budget, so i am looking at graphics cards below $150 at this stage, but if the indicated hash rate is very high for some of the others, i may consider! The PSU on my system is 300W, so it will have to be a card that i can use without having to change over the PSU.

Thanks all!

Spend your money to buy Darks and setup a MN (or be part of one) because you will get a much better ROI. The difficulty is only going to keep rising for miners, whereas MNs will be getting 40 to 50% ROI, without any electricity running costs.

How do you figure that?  There will be thousands of masternodes, they may only get a payment once a month.  the more masternodes, the less the payments just like with mining.
At 2000 MNs, ROI is still 10%.  But also means 50% of coin will be tied up, which means coin value should go up. So win, win.

Yes, but with masternodes there is no real investment to recover because the coins are always there. You can stop it and sell them anytime... not that I would recommend that Smiley

Don't do it unless you are mining to help secure the network. I have 2 rig with a total of 12 gtx 750ti and it only making around .6 DRK a day. Total cost per rig is around 1500 USD

The network have a total of 160GH/s now and it keep increasing.

Best way to get dark IMO is: 1) invest in BC after it got dumped. 2) when you see it raise sharply in MintPal (2-3 large  bar in less than 6 hours) dump all. 3) buy dark with the profit. 4) Repeat 2 with your original BTC. BC is the best P&D coin. It's like it was made for that purpose Grin.

Btw if you want to buy a gtx 750ti and live in anywhere in usa I have one brand new unopened GTX 750TI and willing to sell it for 10.87 DRK or 0.25 BTC (including shipping). You can pm me your address and I'll send the card right after I receive the fund. will ship through usps priority mail.

750Ti Nvidia. Very low power consumption too - it's a killer combo (performance/consumption/price).

You're better off using the $150 to buy DRK.  You won't be able to mine any DRKs with a $150 GPU, sorry but that's the truth.

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies!

Want to put this out there, is mining DRK using a GPU better or just trading? Reason i ask is, i went down the mining route with BTC and have still not made back my investment. On the other hand, i traded BTC and have made more money which even kinda covered some part of my investment in Mining. I know that trading is best on the whole, but mining has its benefits too. I can put sell orders for whatever price if i mine, but with trading, it always has to be more than what i bought at minus transaction fees. Maybe this is just psychological but that's how my line of thought goes! BTW, i am getting the 750 ti for $150 or thereabouts, is it still better to trade? Wink

Oh thank you your input.
Then unbroadcated tx is preserved.
I have to clear this more.

Question.......................

Sent DRK out - but - was OFFLINE...

Closed out Wallet - restarted -

Still not showing on blockchain or a single confirmation

Will this resolve it's self or do I need to input a CMD-line to broadcast the transaction?

and if so - what would that CMD-line be?

Any other thoughts?

As far as I know, Since your are off line, tx transmitted to no where.
(Un broadcasted tx is lost when shutdown wallet or retry every 30 min ? I am not sure)
(It will not be included in a block, no coin loss)

Use listtransactions to check.

Thanks for the questions. It does seem like you're missing something. Although, it might not be your fault. The whitepaper is definitely out of date. We've done a lot of work at tweaking the trust model so that it can't be exploited. I'll try to explain how it works briefly, then hopefully if I get time I can revisit the whitepaper soon.

- Masternodes don't have any power over the transactions. They just coordinate the signing. All parties must sign in order for the transaction to be valid. So there's no way to cheat and take the money.
- Users submit collateral. At a later phase if a user doesn't provide the signature as agreed, the transaction will fail. Without colateral this could be done over and over bringing the system to a halt.
- Masternodes have the ability to take the collateral transaction if they wish, but it's paid to the bounty fund. So it doesn't benefit them, it just benefits the community. This removed the incentive to cheat and take the money.

There's no relying on pools at all anymore. Payments to masternodes are done with a voting system embedded into the blockchain. It would take 51% of the mining power to pay the wrong masternode, or another party (because the last few miners to solve blocks must agree on who should be paid)

Transaction currently require 3 parties to be created, so there's a short wait. There are no fake transactions to make that quicker, although this could be done. There's usually 5 or so transaction per 2.5 minutes, so the network should be able to function pretty efficiently under these requirements.

Hoping that helps . Thanks,

Evan

I was checking an old thread regarding QCs and Bitcoin

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/what-does-quantum-computing-mean-for-bitcoin-3008

...very interesting stuff.

Anyway, the workaround from having your wallet emptied by a QC is this: You send your money to an address that you do not use for spending. For example the #1 guy in the richlist is safe from QC cracking his private key because he hasn't published his public key for spending. It's all incoming transactions.

Essentially all addresses should be used once for spending and then they are useless against a QC. The change that remain unspent should be sent to new addresses for future spending / storage.

A guy notes:

Quote
People think  Bitcoin is this:
PUBLIC KEY
PRIVATE KEY

In reality it is this:
PUBLIC ADDRESS
PUBLIC KEY
PRIVATE KEY

Either Satoshi was the luckiest developer of all time or a genius from the future.

By using the PUBLIC ADDRESS which is a hash of the PUBLIC KEY Shor's algorithm is useless.  There is no known quantum algorithm for breaking hashes, either practical or theoretical.  If you don't know what you are attacking (PUBLIC KEY) then Short's algorithm is worthless.
