It won't help (much). These trolls and professional FUD spreaders will (and are already doing this, Litecoin-Forum is full of it) tell you the devs sold the coins to themselves.

I don't get why devs having their own coin should be demonized. They didn't premine it. And when you make a coin, it's intrinsically a worthless coin until you, as a dev, give it value. Unless you do that, you are generating 0 and 1's that nobody wants to pay for, as there are tons of shitcoins.

There's too much fud regarding dev's holdings. There is both "uncertainty" and "doubt" because you can't prove a negative (that you don't have something). But claiming stuff like 2mn is self-defeating even for trolls.

Devs should have something like 100-200k in early february, the equivalent of 2x-4x of what "large" buyers bought back then at batches of 50k for a few BTCs. What happened next, I've no idea. Some could have been sold at the ccex spike of 0.008 (if they had sell orders), some could have been sold at 0.0012-0.002 the next two months, some could have been bought at 0.0011-0.0012 or sold at 0.003+ to 0.028... who knows.

Invested dev = good for the community as the quality of the coin affects his pocket as well. And he is not some sketchy dude hiding behind a "shitcoin" nickname. That's a huge plus.

If you're wondering if you should be buying, this lot have been buying shit loads of DRK with shit loads of money, at prices that are much, much, much higher than when the coins were worth pennies.

Some people will sell and then cry for DRK's unfair distribution at the top and that masternodes are for the filthy rich. A month ago a masternode cost 1.2 BTC... everyone was warned by Evan, when discussing the 1000 DRK requirement and if it'll change in the future, where he analyzed the mechanism of the price feedback loop, that it'll become expensive and more expensive until it reaches insanely expensive...

Wow, we have a Quark PoW/PoS clone with 5 hashes, instead of a PoW X11 coin. LOL.

I compiled a decent amount of posts made by the Dev's only(Eddufield and Interape) of them selling Darkcoin and giving it away. There are also countless posts of regular early miners selling darkcoin and giving it away(feel free to add it to my collection thanks) This list practically shows tens of thousands of DRK being given/sold by the Devs, you can also check the Blockchain as well. So the arguement that those trolls/fudsters were using can now be laid to rest )

Here they are, a bit disorganized but you get the point.

I will sell:
 20,000 DRK/XCO for 0.45BTC
 10,000 DRK/XCO for 0.25BTC
  5,000 DRK/XCO for 0.15BTC

PM me if interested.

I have sold all that i am willing to sell now.

Last week i was selling DRK for $0.02 each, now its about to hit $0.10 each.

Its a good/bad thing... Lets hope it keeps going up...

And now, how about collecting a good hefty bounty for a working effective GPU miner? I'd put down up to 1000 DRK - not much but if many people donate it'll build up.

If more people are interested I could work on GPU miner for a bounty. I already have something more or less working (pools are accepting shares, also solo-mined one block this night with it), but it's still very slow (nearly 2 MH/s on Radeon R9 290). Unfortunately I can't promise it will get much faster, still working on possible optimizations.

FYI

I'll put up 1000DRK, but I want the code you have now, to prove that it is getting at least what you say.

I'll match his 1000DRK

Thats 3000DRK @ $0.35 thats ~$1000

Official fundraiser for Darkcoin marketing & branding

Since Darkcoin was 0% premined, we will be doing this the old fashioned way, with a fundraiser. Many people in the community have expressed an interest in pushing our marketing effort along. We wanted to make sure the time was right, while Evan sorted out the kinks in the Darksend code. But we are nearly ready to show Darkcoin and Darksend to the world, so let's get this moving.

I will release a list of bounties for marketing & branding in the next day or so when I have a bit of spare time. For now, you may donate to the official fundraising wallet (anonymously if you like!). You can also PM me with your donation details and I'll keep some accounting, if only for the sake of making sure your donation is accounted for and spent appropriately.

As always, you are a fantastic community and we appreciate your support!

ps, this bounty is extended to anyone who can get a GPU miner up and running with a reasonable amount of efficiency .

I'm glad the miner works for you, hopefully I'll get paid for the bounty soon. For everyone playing with command line options here are the settings I use for R9 290: -I 18 -g 4 -w 128. I have not tested it on NVidia yet, will do that today, but do not expect wonders. If there are any serious bugs you can report them on eduffield's github.

Expressions of gratitude for the miner shall go this way: XjzvkWNMu5MNk1gNVykJ6CK1u3pAm47oha

I just sent you a payment for 3404.99, thanks!

Want to get Darkcoin listed on cryptorush.in? They've contacted us and they require a fee for listing of 300DRK.

Please donate to get us listed! XxBh3RnSza7dftvMX2JZmNd6ipaTi7KGKx

Why would we pay them to be on their exchange?
There will be a time they beg us to be on their exchange  Cool

I'm fine with that too, I had the same thought  Grin . Should we just tell them nevermind, you'll do it later for free anyway...

I think it's fine to just leave it out there and let folks donate if they see fit, we don't want to look smug by being dismissive, but I agree that ~300USD is too much to be listed on an exchange. The volume on the existing exchanges should be sign enough that this is going places.

It's 300DRK (which is still close to 100$ though!). What kind of volume do these guys even have? I hope asking for fees in exchange of being listed isn't a standard practice, because that seems in line with zynga/king/ea type of business practice. I wouldn't mind being dark being on there but it does seem greedy, they'll be making money of transactions too.

That was essentially exactly what I wrote to them in my first reply.

Oh, in that case, maybe a few dozen pages back(if you look), youll see a list of posts someone acquired from evan and internetape's post history of them, selling their darkcoins, and buying darkcoins because they sold theirs.

Evan is holding 2 million DRK that were accidently insta-mined, right?
Wrong, he actually holds 4 million.
Who can confirm this?

Me, obviously.
I think it might even be 5 million, he instamined coins that don't exist.

I thought it to be closer to 9 million....

Its actually 1,000,000,000.

Like zerocash, he put a back door in there. He'll be spending Darkcoins on his 150th birthday.

Fact of that matter is that once the fork happens and masternode payments go live(and are proven to work), and darksend code is released and poked at for a week or two, all the dark markets will start accepting it, and i seem to recall something like that happening before to some upstart digital coin.

A few other coins out there have actual innovation(nxt's platform implementing colored coins is one that comes to mind), but this coin has essentially a whole budding tor relay network behind it(masternodes) in a self sustained matrix.  The best part is that once dark markets start accepting it as a standard, and the price goes up?  The feds will just have to buy a bunch too(if they havent already) to set up their own masternodes to spy on the network, which will just make it go higher.  Im sure coinmixing between nodes can just be scaled to deal with it too.

Bitcoin has sort of done what it was supposed to do;  introduce the concept of a blockchain, a magical ledger that no one has control over and anyone could see, and its fantastic for that purpose.  Now its being incorporated into government and banking, and is really a gold standard gateway into any other coin.  Its changed along the way but itll do just fine.

Regardless of how people are playing the markets day to day, and how many bollucks ripcoins there are, well executed concepts with real purpose is what this next generation of coins(and technology, and nature) is all about, just like the last generation.

If evans code holds up under open scrutiny, and people continue to support the growing infrastructure of the network(why wouldnt they the incentives are brill), this is going to be an important network, and i cant think of a better coin to be hodling.
Excellent post, thank you for the contribution.

I don't think most understand just how much innovation the masternodes are going to bring to the drk network and how this will influence the value of DRK over time.  I know I can't grasp the full magnitude of it, but the ideas I can think of have me quite excited for the future of this coin and network.

No p2pool updates ?

 https://bitbucket.org/dstorm/p2pool-drk

P2pool need Hard-Fork to dstorm's Masternode payment enabled p2pool-drk.

New worker port, indentifier..

Old one should die completely.
(p2pool node tracker will be changed too)

Two python scripts prepared for hard fork.

Bump.

I'm gonna checkout the P2pool

@Chaeplin

Are you not planning to keep your project updated anymore?

@tifozi

I will use dstorm's p2pool-drk for my nodes Grin

99% of early miners sold off their coins, check the blockchain for proof. Go back to your troll ditch.
I am no troll. I just wanted to know the truth, without hours of checking blockexplorers.
This is a discussion forum, I just asked a question.

I was confused because of all the FUD spreaded by real trolls and professional bag holders of other coins.

Oh, in that case, maybe a few dozen pages back(if you look), youll see a list of posts someone acquired from evan and internetape's post history of them, selling their darkcoins, and buying darkcoins because they sold theirs.

Youll also see many many complaints of early miners/people who bought and were mad because they sold early instead of holding...If you read through this thread, youll see how all those trolls are just spreading lies..

If you want further proof, you can check the blockchain, start with the first accounts to gain drk and watch the amount of drk transferred out of them, and now watch the balance, almost nothing...

That's why anyone who bothered to read/check for themselves would say the same thing, Most of those early mined coins have been spread out pretty well

DarkSend being closed-source is a HUGE problem to anyone holding DRK.

How does one know that the devs aren't double spending their stash or just adding to their total stash and selling them?

If it is closed source this is then possible.

Hence why such a pump could happen.

Having a public-ledger that bitcoin and litecoin has is important to verify where coins came from. Otherwise what is the point of anonymity? Anyone can just send coins and then claim they never sent them to sell on an exchange? lol...how retarded is that?

I'm pretty sure the sender and received can see the transaction if I remember right?
