My point is that i don't see a long-term success sroty for darkcoin BECAUSE of the darksend feature. i can imagine a future where it will be delisted BECAUSE of it's potential for anonymous transactions, i can understand many worldwide agencies which would want to shut it down because of this, even if it's optional.

my question was what is the "sister" coin to DRK, and it was answered HIRO, which *seems* to be the next leading X11 coin, that's all i want, is a coin that uses X11 that won't melt my apartment down with the summer heat incoming. That's it.

believe it or not, i don't give a shit about the darksend feature, and you'd probably be surprized at how many people feel the same way, DRK is in a bubble right now because of X11, not darksend. X11 is what everyone's moving their GPUs to, that's why DRK has caught so much attention.

trust me, just watch. if you could launder money easy as pie with darksend, do you NOT think that there are many people in this world who would take notice? there's a reason i stick with currencies which can be tracked aka bitcoin/litecoin. cause they're not in danger of being shutdown, delisted, destroyed like coins trying to become anonymous. shit even a dollar bill has a serial number on it, you don't think that no tracking, no serial number, no way of see money change hands isn't a huge liability in this world? you're kidding yourself.

I think you'll find some people in Langley, for a start, who would just love to be able shift a lot of money around instantly, cheaply, and untraceably. Wink

ROFL! fair enough. i mean there's many facets out there that would like a darksend feature, not all of them benevolent. and the moment the public sector starts getting wind, there will be press. probably not good press for all of crypto. "New Bitcoin clone supports terrorism!" etc. you can only imagine how people will roll with it. it's that inevitability that has be thinking this isn't the best long-term investment, enjoy it now though, this is the honeymoon period. i can't see it lasting forever.

Side note. I have a mess load of masternodes to setup. Wondering what others here are doing. How is the price with AWS? Or digitalOcean? Anyone getting billed extra for data or other things? Basically wondering what's best experience so far. I think tantestefana locked down an aws?

Did you see my post erlyer? also on darkcoin talk. We have a VPS service provider accepting Darkcoins (also some otherones)

I was billed on AWS for excess data outbound (> 15GB) and so I moved to DigitalOcean. I think that for now the 1TB traffic included is enough  Smiley

This excess traffic was with older versions of the daemon and Evan said there were some reductions in bandwidth so.... well that's my 0.02 DRK
Awesome! Thanks for your .02 drk. Appreciate it!

I imagine it will rise a whole lot from here with greater adoption... 0.02 Mb/s is about 6.4GB/month I think? I can see 100GB being required pretty soon, and 1TB not very long after if all goes the way we hope it will.

I don't think I can follow you with bits and bytes here, please spell these out.

Looks to me like they are all hovering around 0.02Megabits/second, (Amazon scale is bytes, not bits)

Multiply 0.02 Mb/s by 2592000 (seconds in 30 days) = 51840 Mbits/month = 6480 Mbytes/month = 6.4GB/month

My arithmetic is crap though, and these are very rough numbers...  Tongue

Thank you. Mbps usually means Megabits and GB is often Gigabyte but you might never know. Smiley

can someone please tell me if there is a darkcoin sistercoin which does not use the darksend feature? i happen to think that an anonymizing feature like this is actually not a selling point, and infact a point of contention for future adoption. bitcoin and litecoin have openly rejected any ideas to implement such a feature.

i really like the x11 algorithm, but i want to just use it on a normal coin, is there a list of available x11 coins out there? or a consensus on what the #2 x11 coin is? ie. one that's already on real exchanges etc?

anyone?>

DRK with DarkSend turned off...

If you hate your privacy so much, why not just stick with BitCoin/LiteCoin/DogeCoin/HiroCoin/PeerCoin/AnyOldAltCoin?

I don't get it...

first, it's not that i hate my privacy, but nice hyperbolic way to put me on the defensive before i even speak, i hear fox news is hiring. btw, i also "hate freedom" too Wink

And someone dos'es the node for an hour = 500GB.
Huh, here's me thinking I only got charged for outbound traffic? Of which there will be none when being DDOS'd.
Well you could probably contact amazon and say that you were DDOS'd. Else hosting wouldn't be feasible like that.
You could talk with them about a masternode.

My guys been doing this for the past few days:

     ------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
      05/09/14    346.34 MiB |  569.44 MiB|  915.78 MiB |  86.83 kbit/s

      05/11/14    593.07 MiB |    1.30 GiB  |    1.88 GiB   |  182.10 kbit/s
      05/12/14    878.42 MiB |    2.15 GiB  |    3.01 GiB   |  292.27 kbit/s
      05/13/14    478.18 MiB |    1.32 GiB  |    1.78 GiB   |  268.31 kbit/s
     ------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------

I only started monitoring it halfway through the 9th so that day's incomplete. No idea if this is normal or not, I was going to watch it for a while.

Cloning DarkCoin without it's best features won't yield another DarkCoin but a generic shitcoin like all the rest in the clone pack (with the exception of a very very few which seem to be successful, for now).
You're actually right. That would just yield another copycoin with X11, rendering it useless.

Drive space is looking pretty weak, but it's better than nothing...

Any idea how much is needed ?

Space 6gb and bandwith 25gb is that not enough ?

I see you don't have a copy of the Bitcoin blockchain. Grin
DRK is <200Mb but BTC is around 20Gb right now.

Where can one monitor that on EC2? still cant find it, as well as total hours used per month!!

Surely traffic cant be that high?? And regarding blockchains size, what are we looking at with Dark?

Bandwidth from three of my masternodes, two Amazon, bottom one DO. This look about comparable to anyone else's?

Joe's Data Center, $6/mo, 700GB pipe, 30GB disk. I win there all the time.
