I'll go ahead and re-post my submission, now re-purposed for the NYC Subway campaign.  I won't even demand royalties for using my likeness.

Ladies...

Haha, I like it!

No, I mean I don't like it, I... ah you know what I mean .  Tongue

 Hahah!
Anyone want to contact a NewYork Subway ad agency and find out how much it costs to make a bunch of these posters and put them up in the subways?  We could crowd source the funding for it.  Regular people should be using Darkcoin to pay their rent, and everything else.  It's so easy and convenient to send money and pay for things, everyone should have a Darkcoin wallet.

What would be ideal is if we could get CNBC talking about Darkcoin.  Even if it was just some joe behind the fastmoney team on the street with a large Darkcoin posterboard saying "DARKCOIN, send money to anyone in the world, instantly and privately."  Or "Screw Paypal!  Only Darkcoin can send money anywhere safely and privately, for free!"
Quote
Yes! Great idea. To throw something out there as well, perhaps western union also would be a good target. There are a lot of people who wire money around the world at a huge premium. Screw paypal is awesome. I use paypal and all the fees to explain bitcoin and darkcoin to people who want the short and curlies on the matter.
Yep, the Mexican and central American communities get robbed daily by Western Union which charges massive fees just to send money to their families in Mexico.  The entire theme would be "SCREW WESTERN UNION!  Manda Dinero a tu familia usando Darkcoin para gratis!"

Problem with this is the current BTC-DRK-fiat bottleneck. With merchant adoption, ie, when you can actually buy (more) stuff direct with crypto, then yes, paypal, WU etc. are well and truly screwed.

p2p darkmarkets with DRK as the currency of choice can and hopefully will do a lot for DRK. People will actually be able to use it.

Everybody hates ebay/paypal. Big opportunity there for DRK.

DASH is the future of crypto payments!
I have a question about using the DarkCoin wallet. Say I send my coins to my wallet (DarkCoin qt (latest version v0.10.6.3-unk-beta)) on my home PC.  I then encrypt the wallet.  Can I just make copies of wallet.dat and put them on my USB sticks, other computers, etc.?  Then will any one of the wallet.dat files be able to get me back to my wallet (using any of the upcoming DarkCoin qt wallet releases)?

yes

who made the darkcoin wallet ?

darkcoin wallet = the wallet of darkcoin

dark wallet = a web-based bitcoin mixer that is unrelated to darkcoin

If you have sync issues with darkcoin wallet, dowload the latest darkcoin wallet.

I can't find any reference to the source code yet.

Is DarkCoin still closed source even as this thread approaches 1,000 pages?

If so, this is problematic for adoption and integration.  I'm working on a number of projects and having to trust binaries means that darkcoin simply won't be included in just about all of them.

Anyone heard of an ETA on the release of source?  Thanks.

Here's the new schedule for development:

- RC2 (masternode payments, DGW3) : May 14th
- RC3 (1000 DRK limit and denominated change) : May 21st
- After this, I'll find someone to vet the code and open source.
- RC4 (Bugs, security issues)
- Testing, then opensource

Cool, thanks chaeplin.  Hopefully end of month or so then it seems.

Actually, Darkcoin itself is opensourced. For now DarkSend implementation is closed.

While sniffing around, I see that the blackcoin multipool (pays out in blackcoin) can now mine X11 coins.

I'm pretty sure that they won't be mining darkcoin with it's high difficulty, but for those of us who want to mine x11 rather than scrypt, it could be an option to use that, then sell the blackcoin for drk?  I can't find any stats or metrics for the x11 mutlipool, so I'm not sure if it would be a more profitable way to get drk than mining directly..

Doge has their own nascar now fuuu.
Guys we need to sponsor something big Tongue
Doge's Nascar race did nothing to help the price..
If you want to advertising in that category(expensive), then having billboards for Darkcoin in Times Square would be great.

That looks perfect, especially since most people use phones and/or google, that should gauge their interest to find out what Darkcoin is after seeing that billboard. NYC alone has 9million people, with Manhattan/Times Square being the busiest area.
A ton of tourists mostly. As well as the people who work in the area. Also a ton of theater goers.  If you live in New York, you tend to stay far away from times square. (Disclaimer: Long time resident) Most immediate impact would be the media hoping all over it. This sort of happened with this Venmo ad they had running in the subway. It was a picture of a guy with VENMO and a small blurb.

It turned into a miserable fail, however, the media was all over it. The media also jumped all over the joey harrington ad in times square(former football player promoted by Oregon? for the Heisman trophy). I think this is the most logical next step, get the media horny.
(Disclosure: I

Even those ads in the train stations could work, millions of new yorkers, tourists, etc ride the trains everyday.
If we do it right. Venmo took those ads down as it did nothing for them or their brand. People were actually negatively affected by the ads. I agree that if we do get ads in the subway, millions would be reached, but it has to be done correctly. That is far beyond my scope. Beyond just people, the media can be a huge driving force. Think of all the reported 'viral marketing stories' that get reported. Staten Island creepy clown. Nathan for you and the starbucks stunt or the animal park one. Baby satan rolling around nyc, or even the fake murder in an elevator. While reaching people is awesome, if the media jumps on, it gets supercharged.
