Well there goes all my money...

Don't worry - it'll stabilise and does in fact appear to be stabilising. DRK is nothing else if not resilient in the face of many shocks that would've killed any other coin. I hope and expect eduffield to clear things up and keep things on track.

I have a sizeable amount of coins I bought at all prices. I will promise you this I will dump them if these changes keep being made. I couldn't care less about the mistakes in the first few days. Every coin goes through issues. And those who got them early and want to cash out will. Is that some sort of a revelation??? I'm dumbfounded that this is even being seriously considered.

I love this coin technologically but the dev's enthusiasm for fundamental distribution changes is highly problematic. And somewhat ironic. Why does cryptocurrency even exist? Because central banks and governments arbitrarily mess with money supply. But that's exactly what's happening here. I'm not even as libertarian as most people here, let alone Austrain or anarchist, but I just don't like this. Just finalize it. Please. Announce and stick to your word.

+1

Just don't change fundementals. Improving DarkSend, adding features, etc. - all fine.
Money supply has to be rock solid, otherwise it'll scare investors.

Would I buy more knowing it's solid? Yes and I will if that's the case.

Would I buy more knowing there'll be an airdrop or more coins through other reward change? NO

Jeez  - add another vote for dumping the airdop idea for the reasons stated and the obvious example of Auroracoin. No airdrop. Market has rendered its verdict - and it also says "hell no."

And Evan, please provide a guesstimate on when Darksend will be out of beta so we can get this coin back to its true potential. Appreciate all of your work and commitment, but sick of the past 2 months of stagnation while watching other coins soar.

I agree that an airdrop has too many negative connotations to produce a net positive for investor confidence.

I disagree that the skewed day 1 rewards are a non-issue, simply because it's evident that a number of people think it is an issue. Whether anyone *should* be bothered by the skew is irrelevant; investment decisions are made based on what people think, not based on what they should think. If there's a stigma surrounding the day 1 mining, and there's potential to mitigate that stigma, then that potential should be explored. Obviously you have to consider whether you're doing more harm than good in trying to address a perceived problem. If action is taken to artificially increase the coins in circulation beyond the existing reward structure, it needs to be really thought through and done properly. And it may be that it's too risky to be worth trying. In my mind, increasing mining rewards gently would be a low risk approach, and may have other benefits (greater mining adoption), but I haven't fully thought it through.

I disagree.
There is very few complaining, and yet a very large number of ivnestors.
As always, the ones complaining will be loudest, but this hasn't been a major issue, and every time question appeared, it has been asnwered.
Distribution happened, end of story.

Every single altcoin which gets mined a lot in the first 24-48h, gets dumped as soon as it hits the exchange or it's pumped. Those who mined a lot already dumped it.

Even the theft of BTC from Poloniex and hard dump of DRK bought with this stolen coins couldn't destroy the price. There are no big bag holders created in the first 48h anymore, end of story.

Anymore tinkering with the rewards, airdrop, etc. will cause a disaster.
In the past weeks I bought a large number (5 figures) of coins, and got a large number of people into Dark (they total several times what I have).
Any mention of airdrop or other silly idea and we're out.
Do you think we would have done that if we even remotely believed there are big bag holders waiting to dump? No, evidence (price) tells otherwise.

This coin has a great thing going, don't ruin it.

50% of the coins are mined in the first 48H. Hard dumping is comming on Sad .

You are wrong. Most coins mined in the first 48h have been dumped already.
Why do you think there were no major dumps @ 0.002 ? or 0.0015?

Because there are no big bagholders, majority of those who have coins have spent a lot money or electricity on the coins, so it's in no ones interest to dump anything.

Beside, show another coin which show such a stable price over long period of time.
Most of coins is pump, dump and slowly dies to nothing.

People buy and keep this coin because it has real use and thus future, not just trading value.

I'm mining and holding because the current price does not cover the electricity bills . I also think that this coin has bright feature.

You're a little late. That already happened. And happened again when a hacker stole BTC on some exchange and then bought and dumped DRK as a medium. This is all in the past except to some newbies and concern trolls.

Just stop the airdrop idea, this is terrible idea and will only cause the price drop (even mention of it caused the 10% drop!).
This is a great coin, how it holds price and attracts investors over long time with DarkSend only in beta is proof of that. Do not fail that trust.

The first 24h mining issue has been resolved long time ago, and except for sore whiners, people are not concerned about it.
All these who mined a lot dumped it long time ago, distribution took place, and you can still pick up cheap darks thanks to those who run botnets and have cheap electricity.
Diluting shares has no benefits.

I've started mining in late February, bought majority of my Darks in March and I'm not complaining.

High volume of dumping on Cryptsy just now. I'll bet all my DRK that it was the mere mention of the word airdrop. Jesus, I can't believe this has even come up.

That's exactly it. That's also the reason I went into the safe and pulled my paperwallets and have them sent to the exchanges. The second this is greenlighted for a go on the airdrop, I am dumping 5 figures worth. I'm really hoping Evan comes to his senses about this.

Lol, investor confidence used to be an abstract phrase to me. But right now I can feel my own seeping out. Evan needs to comment ASAP.

Yes, please quash this airdrop idea. Will only cause pain. The big early holders have probably dumped most of their coins anyway. Keep up the good work on Darksend instead!

+1 +1 stop Airdrop DRK

And let's focus on the big picture here - when double digit inflation hits the developed world as a result of the massive USA money printing, people will come flocking to a deflationary e-cash. Get the technology right and get the word out there. New people will come and the first 24 hrs won't matter. Moving the goalposts all the time is a bad idea.

No airdrop!
I ask the dev not make the mistake!
You created a wonderful coin in 2014 nothing better established.
You deserve a reward. Do not listen to those who want to enrich themselves only.
Do not change the properties of the coin, only improve the code (like bitcoin & litecoin).
Do not give away the coins you earn! better to send the money to create X11 multipuls, to create their DRK/coins exchange, to create dns services, the creation of rental MHs service (like leaserig.net) ...

The Future Of Work
I agree with increasing the reward for the next 24 months to reduce the relative value of the instant mined coins.

The "instant mined" coins are not even an issue!  Most have been distributed these past 3 months!  I just ran my curser over the cryptsy chart since darkcoin was represented there, and the volumes have been huge.  who has been selling in such volumes, who could?  Only those with tons of coins.

Best distribution you can get.  Lots of people who don't/can't mine have Darkcoin.  They bought it.  I bought quite a bit for me, as well.  In fact as much as I could, I bought.
