something seems to be wrong with cryptsy - at least that's what I'm seeing. I'm trying to fill a specific buy order but it's stuck in open orders, even if there is a buyer and seller agreeing on the same price. Is anyone else seeing this?

Cryptsy is having some "issues" for me too, primarily enormous lag.

You "cryptoanarchists" are over doing it with wantinbg everything to be open soucre, I agree that Darkcoin should be Closed Source until it has a huge user base like Bitcoin does, then you can open source, if the devs open source Darkxoin before that, this coin will become.overlooked and useless as others mimic Darksend.

I agree somewhat, some things can't be truly transparent and not get exploited. I can't even code and over that last couple of days have considered learning enough to make a darkcoin clone till I read this thread properly and found out about it's closed source nature.

A good compromise would be a full audit from greg maxwell and possibly some other trusted contributors to the original idea.

The plan is to open source it, just not while it is in development.

It will go true the plummet after that.

I doubt it. Bitcoin was cloned yet it hasn't plummeted. LTC sprung a thousand clones, so what? Even quark leads its quark clones.

Why I couldn't open the pool 'http://pool.darkcoin.io/index.php'? I still have some coins in it. Huh

It's moving to a new server, adn then it's not, and then it's inaccessible... been that way for a few days...

http://www.drkpool.com/

It was never not moving to a new server. It was moving, then it moved, now it's there.

I'll be speaking at the Cryptocurrency Convention on Apr 9th in NewYork, detailing how DarkSend works and promoting DarkCoin. If anyone will be in NewYork at that time I'd love to meet you!

http://cryptocurrencyconvention.com/

*My details should be up on the site soon

THIS is the type of "marketing" this coin needs.

Edu, can you talk any about what type of testing (beyond this community doing some DS transactions) you are doing? It's been mentioned before to try to let some "white-hat" types take a hammer to it... anything like that? To me, i'd like some sort of 3rd party endorsement on the anonymous transactions.

There were a few people that came into the forums and said that it wasn't anonymous and could break it, I'll reach out to them and see if they're up for taking a look at it.

This would be great to have for marketing purposes.

Also, I was thinking you could institute a 2% fee for your mining pool that would go towards bounties for the DarkCoin Foundation. This would give miners a chance to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the coin.

What do they think they can "break"?  It's in open beta, I can't see how they can figure out who sent what to whom?  Is anyone trying the Beta?  I have, but I suspect only a handful of people have been willing to?

I guess if Eduffield needed more people on it, he'd have said so. Then again, I remember reading some family thing came up, so I suspect he's been away the last 2 days or so.

But I'm telling your, it's just talk.

I don't think it's just a matter of looking at it. Maybe they can send data over the network which forces the code to reveal the sender, stuff like that.

We are now approaching the 10GH/s network mark. Seems as though a lot of people are finally realising the potential of this coin  Smiley

Except the value is going down...

Yup, currently top scrypts deliver approximately 20% more value, which is too far from equilibrium to sustain itself. Something's gonna change. Personally, I'm too lazy do anything but mine DRK and buy DRK. Constantly paying attention to profitability takes up too much attention.

On the another note, Eduffield are you still planning to attend the New York conference?   Didn't quite get a clear picture on what your intention was due to some changes.

No, I was struggling to figure out how to do that with some family stuff that came up. Plus they downsized it to a couple hundred seats and it was really expensive to get there and the tickets are really expensive ($200) so I'm not sure how much impact it would have actually have had. I'd much rather speak at another conference, maybe one in Cali.

Does anyone have a functioning Linux distro with a functioning AMD driver? Or am I the only one who didn't get the memo that there is no such thing?

I just don't fuckin' believe it... I used to run Eve Online with Wine on 13.04 with a beta 13.3 AMD driver while simultaneously mining LTC in the middle of Summer with no A/C and it was flawless... Now, absolutely nothing works even using the exact same stuff...

I may give up Linux and AMD products, both. I need something that actually works. Who wants to buy this 7970? I've got no use for it.

What a farce...

Installed 13.04! AMD Catalyst driver built and installed! Reboot!

No signal to monitor anymore. Can't see anything.

All that trouble to get the driver to finally fuckin' build and install, only to find out that it's completely broken.

The plan is to open source it, just not while it is in development.

In the long run*, open sourcing is not optional. It's not about crypto-culture or political leanings. This is real money we're talking about, but without the force of courts or the peace of mind from insurance. If anyone wants to transact big amounts where anonymity is critical, they'll want something open source even if they themselves can't understand code.

* And I think the "long run" needs to be a lot shorter than some people are imagining. Think 10-20% of LTC market cap, not $100 per coin. At that point, DRK should be more or less un-catchable.
