The job interview analogy is a sales pitch. You don't need to be so desperate to sell yourself when you got the goods and nobody else does. Seems like we already went over that. Sales pitches are for shitcoins

No, just trying to use an analogy to display that I'm not having the argument you're pretending to have with me... But that's too many times you've gone your own way instead of paying attention. Is there a point to the argument you're having with yourself? Will you every notice or acknowledge the rather different topic I've presented instead of your own made-up angry bit?

I do like your point of dark being avoiding the criminals in high places though, I can see that applying. And the monopoly market-share point is also valid. Not what I was focusing on... But still valid points. I woke up with a boner this morning. A valid point as well, but not related...

I just don't care that much about this conversation anymore... I've said what I wanted to say (with little interest from anyone), and you're talking about something else... I'm tired. Buying some more DRK once my BTC confirms, then going to bed.

You continue to say and reference how bad the name is and invoke RapeYourDaughterCoin on different posts and how the anonymous features should not be showcased. Most everything I said was about the relevance of the name to adoption and criminal perception even if you couldn't follow. gday...

Fair points here. So, what would you call it? Give us your pitch for a not-raping-your-daughter coin.

How many Senator Manchins do we need to attract?

To be honest I don't see why the word "Dark" has to be relative to criminal activity... I'd say it's more relative to the anonymous aspect of the coin. The blockchain is in the dark, transactions made in darkness. Darkness provides a means to be unseen, and that's what DarkCoin is doing in a way.

I don't think it HAS to be, that's just the way it is... That's reality.

BitCoin is already being called DevilCoin by some. The point is not what rational people think. It's what the irrational public thinks. BitCoin is already thought of as CrimeCoin. DarkCoin comes out and says it... About the only way you could maybe dodge it is to call it BatManCoin...

You can't ignore the image already cast upon cryptocurrencies by the media and politicians. Yes, you and I are rational and we know better, but those who absorb propaganda and advertising are NOT. Ignoring reality doesn't change reality.

Just stacking ever since that crazy price action. The cryptocurrency world needs the real thing. No more fake coins.

Woot, title change! Only downside is that ASIC resistant is gone. Sad I'd still take that over KGW under limited space. After all, the ASIC resistance derives from the algo, which already protects us from multipools (though KGW is still nice for responsiveness).

I'm not putting anyone in a position to defend RapeYourDaughterCoin. I'm making an analogy. Straw man, dead.

I'm not calling you wrong. I'm saying that ignoring reality does not change reality.

There exists a stigma. It's a fact. You've 'embraced' it, but who else will? You're essentially saying "Yes, we mean to be the CrimeCoin for which BitCoin only managed to be a half-measure." When you could be saying "It's no more criminal than cash."

You and I both know that there is no difference. Functionally, they do the same thing regardless of the propaganda or marketing. But propaganda and marketing do affect the weak minds of the general population. They already view BitCoin as CrimeCoin because they are weak-minded, so coming out and calling yourself WayMoreCrimeCoin isn't helpful. I'm not saying the sky will fall as a result, just that it isn't helping... I could wet my pants in a job interview, and it might not ruin my chances if everyone else does worse, but it isn't going to help me... I could just NOT wet my pants, how's that? Just like I can NOT stab myself in the eye with a rusty fork. I can also NOT name my altcoin in such a way as to make people even more stupidly wary of something they're already stupidly wary about... You can't force people to be smart. I've tried...

It's a moot point because changing the name at this point is silly. I still like ChameleonCoin tho...

Personally, I love Crime, and I'd love CrimeCoin. Crime is just the act of taking back human rights stolen by government. I'm proud of Crime. Crime is good. But, how many people understand that and agree with me? Maybe I should get an "I Love Crime" t-shirt...

The reality is that anonymous transactions is the point of this coin. What other selling point does it have.. X11? so implement another hash function then we got X12 no big deal..diffrent algos are common now.

I don't get the mentality,  why is somebody going to use this over bitcoin. If one of these "weak minded" people ask what makes DarkCoin better you will come back to darksend (darkness).  The job interview analogy is a sales pitch. You don't need to be so desperate to sell yourself when you got the goods and nobody else does. Seems like we already went over that. Sales pitches are for shitcoins.  If you build it they will come.

Being ahead of the curve for BTC/precious metals adoption I see being early on the true reason for something like dark the same way. After 5 years continuous snooping revaluations people can feel very different about Drk/privacy just like how 10 years ago nobody was talking about the Fed or at least as mainstream of a topic. Look at "Darkmail" and "blackphone".. dark and black can come to mean security in the lawless world we are living in. Essentially turning the used only for criminals mentality your talking about to the protection from the criminals (inside and outside the governments).

BTW I support re-branding to RYDC or RYDZ.. just kidding I think dark is perfect.. not that I really care.

How do we get the word out about DarkSend going to beta?

Title change should be enough.

[ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Truly Anonymous (DarkSend) | KGW | No Premine | ASIC Resistant
In case my suggestion got lost in the useless back and forth above:

going off topic, and being a coward on top of that, LOL, I was wondering if anyone knows about icoin.  They advertise "Transactions occur anonymously, and are confirmed through a decentralized peer-to-peer public ledger. The only set of eyeballs on your wallet are your own. " yet, skimming through their thread, I see nothing about how they make the transactions anonymous.  They are wonderful about self promotion, though!  We could use some great people like that here.

Anyway, I'm a coward because I don't want to ask on their thread, 'cause I might get flamed  Lips sealed  Tongue

As far as I can tell, it's "anonymous" in the same sense that Bitcoin is anonymous. Your public address isn't attached explicitly tied to your real identity.

This seems to be a generic scrypt clone, just with clean, professional marketing.

Yes, the marketing we need... maybe we really should bring Xcoin back.  It was a good name but there was an exchange of the same name that turned out to scam people, and we didn't want to be associated with them  Undecided

I'm selling.  Doubled my money from purchase this morning.

The price on Mintpal and Cryptsy is going back down steadily.

Which coin has more potential in the top 25?  I don't care which alt coin you pick...thats just a stupid comment!  Bitcoin.  Ill take bitcoin for most potential.

In terms of potential, you have to account for the money flow.

The chance of some bitcoin holders wanting anonymity and thus bitcoin capital flowing to anonymous alt-coins is a serious "possibility".

Personally I think BTC will try to remain "transparent" as to evade banning. The letter of the foundation to Congress etc said something like "hey everything is transparent" etc etc... I don't think they'll change that at BTC. So... When you have one option (transparency), you have 100% marketshare. When a second option is presented (anonymity), you can only lose marketshare versus the new option. It's like when a monopoly on something gets real competition. Its inevitable that some "clients" will move over to the new option. This translates to capital moving from BTC to DRK or anonymous clones, which in turns means, oh well, I don't have to break that down. That's why there's no need for spamming, charities and bullshit of this type. The money will find its way. It tends to do that pretty fast actually.

Promotion... DarkCoin drew my attention through it's lack of promotion. So many Pump and Dump alt coins with no purpose and/or obvious fatal flaws re-branded as a feature... It' not a bug, it's a feature! It's not a horribly shitty idea, it's a feature, learn to like dumb things so I can leave you holding the bag after the pump...

Meh, see none of that crap with DarkCoin. It just quietly does what it says. ...with a terrible name. :-p

Very true  Grin
