I've been reaching out to the pool operators and getting everyone to update and haven't heard back from Yobapool and CPU-pool. Can anyone using these pools shift their hashing power to one of the other pools in the mean time? We need to know they were updated successfully.

Yobapool is tiny and CPUPool has been updated (or is in progress).

Despite our size, we always keeping our software up to date!

Sooo there is a moment of truth! Current Block 15200! Congratulations!

quick question.
I have prescious little mining experience, but what little proper mining I did was done during the 24 hrs or so before the whale appeared. I was on http://pool.darkcoin.io averaging around 2300 - 2500kh/s, but fluctuating from anything just under 1000 to 3500. I presume that fluctuation thats reported is purely down to the time the hashes are accepted and the rate at which the data is measured (every 15 secs?)

Anyway, what I have noticed is that during the good times (a day or so) and even when we went to 90 difficulty, whatever the pool thought I was due based on my hash (at the time, which I understand changes constantly) I only seemed to be getting roughly half of what I should be???

Am I missing something obvious here?

the pool measures your hashing rate by number of shares you send in, that can differ from time to time...

ok, but wouldn't 24 hrs be enough time for everything to average out?
As soon as things kick off tonight I will keep an even closer eye on things.

its not measured of suck a long time period... its measured for the last 5 to 10 minutes only

OK, I THINK I just about get it. Basically the very irregular manner in which the hashes are accepted by each individual worker, plus the fact that as you say the average is only taken over 5 / 10 mins means those guestimates are pretty much worthless to everyone.

Hey guys.   I've been away. What's going on?  Do I need to update my windows wallet?  Will anything happen to my coins?  Please let me know whats up. Thank you!
Yes, update your windows wallet.  You're not going to lose your coins but always do a backup of the wallet.dat file just to be safe.

Thanks man.  Just did it. Can't wait till the diff drops.  It's been brutal.

As I understand it, we are about to reach block 15200 which is where it has been forked.
So I am guessing this needs to be done before you either buy or mine any new coins?
Please don't take that answer as gospel, I'm quite a noob.
