So KGW is working great, the fork went off with out a hitch and now we're whale proof! So I want to move on to the next topic. A few days ago I asked if we should open source the technology or not and the vast majority of you all want it to be open source, so we're going to do that. So, that being the case earlier today in #darkcoin we were discussing the anonymous technology (An improved variant of coinjoin built into the client) and we were brain storming names for it.

Since it's going to be opensource we want to brand it, if other coins add it the users will know where it came from. So we have these ideas, we want to do a sort of poll and see what everyone likes.

Please limit your reply to your favorite name for the technology:

DarkSend
DarkTransfer
DarkTwister
DarkXport
DarkTransit
DarkStep
DarkTrigger
Darkify
Darkifier
DarkForce
Darkoflage
Darkize
DarkShroud
DarkEncode
DarkPool
DarkPooling
DarkCipher
DarkJoin (as in based on CoinJoin)

(or if you think you have a better name, put that in the reply)

Thanks!

Could someone please tell me about the 2 guides for ec2/digital ocean?
Do you get some form of trial, or start paying per hour straightaway or something?

100khash shouldn't generate more than a handful of coins a day anyways.

It did generate ~1 per hour prior to the whale though and with 400-600 MHs network hashrate for the hours post 15200, I don't think the payout should be like 1/8th - 1/10th of what I was getting (?). Seems anomalous so the only explanation I can think of is that the pool software being confused (?).
there are more people running miners now than before the whale, so that would also make your payout go down

Regarding http://pool.darkcoin.io/ are the payout schemes calculated ok after 15200? They seem way too low for the difficulties involved... before the whale thing etc, I averaged around a coin per hour now I'm waaayyy down to something like 0.1 per hour. Is it possible that the new diff scheme has messed up the pool share calculations?

Everything seems fine on this end, try restarting your miners

Done that, no useful change though. Averaging ~0.13 coins per hour with 100kh+ and the net hashrate was 400-600mh in this period, so the payout is too low compared to pre15200 standards.

If anything, they seem more accurate now, and my payout has increased a bit. Not that it's much, but it's moving more than it was before.

One odd thing I noticed is that in my pools it may say something like my hash should get 25-30 DRK/Day, yet my actual DRK received is much less than that. I am new to this sort of thing, so am I reading that wrong? Although with this recent change, I do see more coins coming in now... so maybe it will catch up somewhat.

ha ha! I have just asked all these questions tonight!! go back 3/4 pages back https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5066892

The numbers simply being way off is certainly an explanation I considered. I would have thought they wouldn't be quite as off as they are though.

The guide for DRK coin is the easiest way to go for this, and pair it up with Putty, and it's really easy to do. I tried quark/frozen/doge on a different cloud service as a trial, and the payouts were really, really lousy. I just started up Azure/DRK last night, and it does appear to be chugging along somewhat nicely now -- won't get a ton out of it, but for free, why not? I'm curious if there are other freebie cloud services to try. I did try signing up for 2 others (HP, Joyent) ... but had issues with each.

There is also Riecoin coming out tomorrow, which may be good to point some cloudmining at, since it's a cpu coin -- although I am not aware of a guide for it.

Honest Tim,

You seem to know a lot about Azure.  May I ask, what happens when I run out of money on the free trial? Do they start charging me on my credit card until I cancel? Thank you.
No they wont.

You dont even have to cancel subscription, it ends when you run out of money.

Cool Thanks Crike.

Ok,

I just register... Try to figure how it's working...
I have to create a virtual server? Which is best O/S for running minerd?

On Azure I believe that you can get a linux machine for like half the cost of a Windows box so it will last 2x as long. I'd recommend Ubuntu 12.04

damn it, that really pitheths me off.
I will have to learn how to compile source code now.

So I don't understand - I started up a trial of Azure - 20 cores - and my account statement says that I am using about $12/day of the $200 - so at that rate I will get almost 17 days out of the trial - Am I missing something - is it really only going to be good for 4 days and the account page is just not accurate?

I'm doing the same thing, at about $13/day, it looks like. I would think this should last a lot longer than 3 days. I'm not sure why it ran out so fast for the other poster, unless he had a bunch of cores not running longer than that, and it ate up his credit? I'm doing the 8/8/4 cpu setup to get to 20. Is this the best way to go, or should we break it all up into 4s?

Well, believe it or not I havn't finished my trial yet. I watched the youtube vid the guy did about quark mining a couple of times, then did mine. I have configured and deleted 9 machines 3 times now so I sort of have head around it. I am most definately doing 8,8 and 4. With all the things that have gone on recently, GPU mining around the corner (which I won't be able to do) and how awesome this coin is looking I say strike hile the irons hot!
